Yep, its really good to know its still alive and well.
My last to-do list on here was on the 4th  I *have* been doing stuff, its just that its repetitive :rotfl: mostly involving laurel branches.
For some reason, I can't make myself do anything connected to the new bank account, though my Christmas cards are out (haven't got as many as I thought). Probably just the horror of setting up new systems, but I must do it this morning, don't want to start late this afternoon after I get back from toddling about the countryside. Tidying is going splendiferously well, I'll have enough focus to clean the tablecloth soon :rotfl:and then dirty it again when I pot some aloe vera and spider plants for my brother. All good though.
Wow. This is why it pays never to trust a financial institution. In typing this, I can see out of the corner of my eye a para from Martin's weekly email, 2.15% for 1 year fixed. A building society of mine just sent me a letter saying that since I'd been a customer for 6 years, I was entitled to a fix of 2.1% for 3 years. Three! More humbug2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I tried! I've managed to get my new debit card online, and the rewards part of the account, but I don't know the sort code or the account number
so I have to go in to the branch today - luckily, there's one in my own town. So, I'll take all the paperwork I have from them, plus a ton of ID - passport, bank statement from previous bank, Council Tax notification and water bill.
Then I'm hopping on a bus (notes already made as to the timings of the 3 weird services available) to a village about 3 miles away, where there's a Christmas Tree Festival, I kid you not. Apparently, there's supposed to be about 80 Christmas trees in this one church. I really like the sound of that :rotfl:
Yesterday was good too: went to *another* local village where a smart cafe my sister likes does vegan pizzawith gluten free options
which suits my weird food intolerances perfectly. Shame about the noise levels, which were appalling, but it was lovely in general, and I found some amazing shops, very artisanal

I kept yesterday as a normal-ish day, but it was the anniversary of our bereavement, so low key. And the awful distant relative reared her head, which was upsetting for my sister. I kept on with the productive work, branches and trunks of laurel - I do maybe ten a time, it's plenty.
At long last, I've found a method of writing out the Christmas cards that works. I'm fine with the list thing, writing out who I'm sending to, who should get what. But actually sitting down and writing them out at one time, or two or three times? It makes me want to run from the room screaming, for some reason. So, all my tidying in the kitchen has finally resulted in a clean, clear kitchen table. And everything is on there, and will stay on there till I'm done, one or two at a time, no special time blocked out, I can't do it that way!
Bliss :snow_laug:santa2: :snow_laug:santa2: :snow_laug:santa2:
So today:
- SB is churning in the background, but I must learn how to apply the Mastercard thingy. The instructions are on the thread on here, but I know I won't remember them till I have to use them, so now is the time!
- get stamps onto the Xmas cards I've done, do others if I can face them.
- healthy walk from the council is an hour later, because we're going to a pub lunch - this is the one that has the saga of "I'm not paying £26!" No one else wanted to either, so a pub lunch it is
- If I can manage to do anything else, I'll fetch the wooden stepladders from under the stored timber propping up the wooden shed - I have to reach over too many layers to be able to reach the remaining trunks and branches while standing on my chair, so I can clean that and go stand on my stepladder, as is only right and proper :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I'm the same of you Karma, hate Christmas card writing so I wrote all the bottom part out, then stuck address labels on the front of the envelopes with the addresses (Typed up last year best thing I ever did) then did a few of the top parts and envelope stuffing at a time till they were all done. Yippee!!
I was feeling really smug until someone who can no longer write cards asked me to write them for her, of course I'll help but I'm now having to do it all again. Serves me right for feeling smug!!!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Ouch earthie, thats a pain! Use it as a chat time, I guess, it'll probably be easier doing it for others ... its a lesson, isn't it, in what people *can't* do. Have a good'un.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Pub lunch, how lovely. Enjoy:beer:
Please take care when on the stepladder. Using one and over-reaching when cutting branches/trimming trees caused my Dad to topple over and break some ribs:eek:
Commiserations over the anniversary of your bereavement. The first anniversary is always such a dark time:kisses3:. How sad that the awful relative should be so insensitive at that time and upset your sister. I hope your sister has got over it now.0 -
Thanks CBC
the lunch was lovely, very ordinary - jacket with cheddar - and £7.25 instead of £26, which makes it just right
and I'll be careful on the ladder, I promise, broken ribs do *not* sound good, sorry to hear that. I take my phone, too.
Yeah, the day yesterday was a marked one - pretty sure my sister's okay now, thank you for your concern. Just got to use that energy to go forward, and build. My mum would want that, for sure, thats why I went out to the garden and didn't just sit inside.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
