Leetle bit ker-nackered today, might have done a teensy bit too much on Tuesday, which is annoying. Today is the day my sister's coming over to help me paint the living room alcoves, which I've already cleared. Still got to get the paint and the brushes out :o and she will *kill* me if the brushes don't meet with her approval :rotfl:Its difficult to extend my painting arm, and I'd be tempted to cancel, to be honest, but the postie is delivering a registered letter with our cheques from the house sale today, and she has to come over to collect hers.

So when she's gone, what I *am* going to do is go bank the cheque. I've no idea how the new bank account I finalised on Tuesday will react when they see a cheque for oodles of dosh like this :( but the cheque names me as an Executor of the executor account, so it should be okay once they get over the shock :rotfl:

Have a good day all - this is an offline day for me, unusually

Have you both considered taking a copy of the probate (or the will) with you when you go to the bank. I've heard some banks are total pains if you do anything unusual.

beanie - thanks, it really did go to plan.

betterthanever - oh my, the removals were actually there :rotfl: which hopefully means you slept in the new house last night :j woo hoo!

badmemory - thanks for that, I wondered about doing that, actually, but events just flowed very fast, and I didn't take the documents :o

However - that was part of the wonderfulness of the day :) Push the card in the slot, give the cheque to the teller, she did all the rest, it was brilliant, I was so worried about writing out the (very new) account number wrongly :rotfl:

The morning was great as well - as usual, it looked *so* patchy while drying, even though its good quality paint, but this morning it looks fantastic! The living room will look so much nicer once I put everything back into its rightful place :)

I also scooted upstairs and did a quick couple of coats on half of an office wall - that needs touching up today, but it means I can get some stuff into place against the wall, and its done. I'm really happy with it all :j:j:j

So, today, I have a list of stuff I want to do for the rest of the month, twelve items. There are several days, of course, when I'll be just taking part in the fun :):):) but I'm not losing sight of this stuff. Today,[STRIKE] the two items[/STRIKE] the three items I *need* to tick off the list completely are the Christmas cards, and one I've called "sweep", which is shorthand for "sweep the floors, tidy up a bit, and get the furniture where you want it to be in the house for Christmas". Oh, so that means do "paint" - the little bit around the ventilator in the office that I haven't done. Truthfully, the stuff in the living room might need a third coat, but not before Christmas, no way no how :):):)

Thanks both - I've done one task (tiny bit of finishing painting) and done bits of the other two, the tidying up and the Christmas cards. Very bitty, but its adding up.

With all the mentions of the laurels, I now imagine you swinging a sledgehammer to split the logs, like the best of the lumberjacks. Do you wear a checkered shirt when you do it...?!
