Dear me, the 19th? I've been on here constantly, on other people's threads, anyway :D

    There *are* some achievements:
    - finished the master of the family CD, with some hand drawn family trees to hopefully make things more intelligible.

    - been working at SB and YG whenever they present themselves, doing okay, I don't want to devote any more time to it, so there we are :)

    - Friday to Sunday, I did 30 mins a day in the garden, thats made a bit of a difference.

    - none today: I did the council's healthy walk, and saw a neighbour, whom I promptly rabbited to about my leaning garden gate. He just as promptly offered to try to fix it. And he already tried! It's not fixed, sadly, it may need for the post to be concreted in (it hasn't been!) but at least it's now stuck open, as opposed to closed, and I can get from back to front with bark chippings and garden rubbish and whatnot.

    - and I'm just trying to tidy and clear things away. Not focussed on finances yet, but I will.

A small financial "win" today: 123reg tried to deduct a payment for a domain name I didn't want any more. They did it last year too, and just like last year, I complained. It's taken longer this time, but once again they've agreed to refund it. So now, I've just got the "other" blog, as I used to call it :)

I'm taking most of today off, as I'm popping off to Big City On The Coast, to see my ex-partner. And I'm doing it by coach - it's a long walk to his house from his train station. Even so, I'll get my walking exercise today :) and maybe pop into my Iceland on the way back, as long as it's not overcrowded.

    Have a good day all.

Thanks beanie! It was lovely to stay and chat, but the conveyancer bollixed things up by calling me at the wrong moment, so I missed the bus, stayed later than I intended, yadda yadda, and the coach home was through rush hour traffic - usual time on the coach, 35 mins. Actual time on the coach yesterday (with a bad axle) 1 hour 20 mins :( I got to see moonrise, which was nice.

And then out again this morning, as I've definitely rejoined U3A - Ancient History group, a subject close to my heart (no jokes please :D or not too many!).

I'm so tired I haven't even stacked the dishwasher, but I *have* to deal with the ID requirements of the dratted conveyancer. Certificated copy of my passport, when I'd already sent them a colour scan, plus all the new questions they asked yesterday. Completion is supposed to be 23rd November. They could have done this stuff before :( Never mind, only a month till I never have to speak to them again.

    Hello Hazelnutty, welcome :):):)

I haven't done any of those, I must say - just had a look and they have some really good things going on, in all sorts of areas I'm interested in. I confess, I'm really using U3A and their study courses to make local links, as I don't know anyone at all in the town I live now, to socialise with. Today, there was a woman I've seen on the council healthy walks thing, and the ex-membership secretary of the county's counselling organisation, which I belonged to for many years. So I have an ulterior motive for doing some things in person :o But Future Learn has courses, for instance, on digital skills, even cyber security, that sound very interesting to me, and I have no other way of studying those right now, particularly for free. Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate it :kisses3:

  • You're very welcome! It's amazing what's on there (things you never knew you needed to know!) and new stuff is added quite regularly. I think you can sign up for future FutureLearn courses, then you get a reminder when they start. I totally get the wanting to actually meet people though! If you're not a member of your local Historical Association branch, that could be a good one. Each one should have a programme of talks and events :)

They're interesting too! Nothing round me (and I think they're asking for trouble including Liverpool with Manchester :D) but there you go :D

My next local thing is to rejoin the local horticultural society - thats one of my other big interests. Not flowers or pretties (except the ones I like :rotfl:) but fruit and veg and herbs. My garden is a jungle, because of my energy issues, but I have hopes, always :rotfl:

The other thing I need a group for is astronomy, thats in the next town, and in the evening, and I can't cope with that, but thats my other serious passion :)

I hope you find the groups you like Karma. Here our local libraries are pretty good with groups for different things, but not astronomy.

Wish I could come and help with your garden, love gardening, pity we are so far away :(!

Awww, earthie, thank you, thats really kind! I might try to do a little bit out there today, as its bin collection tomorrow, but I'm having a low key day for sure. Low key till the middle of next week, actually, to regain some strength. Gardening is good because I go at my own pace as to timing and intensity both, its a win-win.

Today, really not much. Finances: I've remembered just in time that I need to pay a credit card, and also be responsive to my partner down in Big Coastal City, as he's helping me with ID proof for the dratted conveyancer.

If I want to pootle around at another new project :o I may have volunteered yesterday to work up some notes on the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, for the Ancient Civilisations group on u3a :o seeing as I've been there and all ... oops.
