So, the dishwasher's on, SB is rabbiting to itself on my phone, I've delayed the date of my supermarket order by a week, and texted my sister as she's off on her travels (she got the text when she was actually on the plane :D).

This is a taking stock kind of morning after that - putting things away, using things up, checking that what I'm doing is in line with my priorities. Checking what my priorities are, come to that!

I missed Strictly last night:(. Not sure whether I'll watch the current series or not. I've been an avid fan since the first series and never missed a single week. I even watched It Takes Two every weeknight too. I'm not sure whether to be embarrassed or not to admit that occasionally I've even voted, which is something I'd never dream of doing on any other reality programme. I don't watch any of the others though, just Strictly:o. I usually voted in the last few weeks of a series when all the remaining contestants were really good and invariably it was Kevin and whoever his partner was at the time that I voted for. I genuinely feel he was robbed on more than one occasion:(. Must have been a bit galling for him for his sister to waltz in (literally:rotfl:) and win the trophy in her first season as a main dancer:eek:.

I've had a bit of a rethink about how I spend/waste my time and also feel that the Strictly playing field (well, dance floor anyway:rotfl:) isn't a level one. Several contestants have a background if not exactly in dance then in a career that involved rhythm and movement to music. Or else they are actors who went to stage school. It must be a definite advantage IMO. Some contestants start off totally clueless and can't move rhythmically for toffee but improve vastly if given time and don't get voted off before they have the opportunity to realise their potential. Not true in all cases of course but it has happened.

I sound like a real killjoy, don't I:o?. I know it's only an entertainment show after all and I should be able to just enjoy it for the glamour, colour, music and the effort everyone puts in. That's the trouble with me, I get too involved in things:(

Lol - was a friend of OH's Dad - as I'm 'from away' I'm entirely unsure if that is a good thing or not...

Windsor Davis was also a friend of his Dad's - I'm just the messenger so no grief if that's entirely shameful!:rotfl:

RT oops, I'll shut up about Brian then :o:o:o

CBC I didn't watch it for years - even now, I don't **watch** it blow by blow, especially in these early stages. I've come to like a few of the "celebrity" programmes where skills are being learned, like Strictly and Masterchef, but I perfectly understand the thing about not having a level playing field. Now that they've stopped pretending there *is* a level playing field, I'm happier with it. But its crucial to have each to their own! And using our time wisely becomes more and more important to me, it's often how I motivate myself. Otherwise, I'd have watched several episodes of Game of Thrones this morning, and I didn't :o

earthgirl no, don't worry, I don't have a new diary, I'm not quite sure what's going on there :kisses3:

duesudue you're on page 71 or so of a diary thats been going for years. You're welcome to post, but you might want to check where you're posting. This whole forum is brilliant, but each thread is separate, and they're grouped in boards and sub-boards. Where you are now is about people paying off their mortgage (and my thread shouldn't really exist any longer, as I paid it off a few years ago, but my finances are still wobbling along, so I keep the thread going).

Actually, I've been tidying like crazy - papers from my mum's, and some I can get rid of as I update my genealogy info, its only rough notes. Though one thing is very precious - my dad's Mining Certificate from Uranium City in the Canadian NorthWest Territories in 1956. Weird though ...

Morning campers! It was *cold* last night, wow, but I was snuggly in my winter duvet :):):) And since electricity in general is so expensive now, I think I'm going to find my little solar panel gizmo thats supposed to be able to do a smartphone. I'm sceptical, but I have it, so I might as well see if it works - my bedroom gets full sun in the morning (sigh ... but I have blackout curtains) so I could set it up first thing, before I even make my tea!

    Anyway, today:
    - healthy walk run by the council.
    - covering letter to bruv about all the stuff I have to send him.
    - walk into town so I can send all the stuff registered, legal docs in there.
    - bright sun means I could do a bit of work in the garden.
    - carry on updating my files with the last bit of genealogy info I wanted to get done yesterday, then
    - back up computer.
    - maybe 15 minutes in the garden, don't want to do too much since I'm going on the walk and also walking into town, but the garden's getting bad.
    - buy train ticket for trip to Margate
    - email Margate friend with arrival times.

Another admin day, oops. But it enables a lot of other stuff, got to remember that :)

I agree about it's being cold last night:eek:. I put the central heating on after tea for a while but OH gets so irritated by my need for it as he never seems to feel the cold and is sitting around in short sleeves when I'm muffled up in several long-sleeved layers. I keep reminding him of research that concludes that women tend to feel the cold more than men but he isn't having any of it:(. He insisted I switched it off at 9:mad:. The house was barely warm by that time as we haven't warmed the fabric of the place for months and we don't have cavity walls.

I had to chuckle to myself this morning though when he went out really early to harvest the runner beans. He came in saying he was absolutely freezing and 'suggested' I might like to put the heating on for a bit:rotfl:. He plans to stay in for a few hours. He brought in 2 carrier bags absolutely full to bursting with beans and says there are plenty more to come within the next few days. It's over a week since he's managed to pick any what with the torrential rain and gales. Our plants were very late to produce anything this year, absolutely covered with flowers but no sign of any beans until the summer was almost over. They're producing with a vengeance at the moment though, just in time for the first frosts to kill everything off:(.

I've a few hours work to look forward to now (not) getting them all prepped and frozen. The joys of growing your own eh?. Your day's plans are a lot more interesting and enjoyable than mine. Sounds like a good idea not to attempt too much gardening today seeing as you have so much walking to do. Enjoy your day:beer:

    Thanks CBC!

I do wonder about the effort of preservation :o but I'm sure its worthwhile - I've still not been able to do much this year, but next year I definitely will, my chard seeds are ready and waiting :D

Cold here this morning too, OH reported ice on the car windscreen.
Bright sunshine now and warm out of the wind. The bus went out early from town at lunchtime so I plodded home, fair bit of ankle pain as I am trying to manage with little or no pain killers atm. Had hair done so feel and look fairly respectable for a day:rotfl:

Need to dig out some warm clothes and get out there for at least 15 minutes of weeding, will do it when I have finished this cuppa - :D

I was really annoyed on your behalf regarding all the messing about by the bank KC, especially in the light of the travelling to the venue that you all had to do.

Thank you maddie, especially for being angry on my behalf :kisses3: it was rough, I have to say.

But poor you and OH too! Between trying not to use painkillers, and limping, and ice on the windscreen - thats not good either :(

I walked into town to send my registered letter, I can tick that off, plus did a bit of the file updating . Found out that our Coop store is closing down next month - I never, ever use it, much too expensive, but it *is* the only food store in the centre, though the Poundland has a single chill unit that contains fresh food. That also means that we'll lose the main Post Office temporarily, they rented room from the Coop, and now they're trying to find somewhere else. Times are getting tough.

I'm going to have a snack :p and then do something else on the to-do list :)

ETA - half an hour in the garden, digging, yay. Didn't manage to clear it all away, but got a *lot* of roots out of the border, including some brambles, yay!
