...keep watching the dehydrator, which is doing some broccoli...
That sounds fascinating KC - what do you do with dehydrated broccoli?4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! At the moment, its an experiment, RT, partly about healthy storage without relying on my inconsistet fridgefreezer, partly about during the winter if I'm ill like I used to be - it was a struggle to even order a delivery and put it away, for a long time. If I'm in that situation again, I want to be able to have some food on hand.
I came back on here to check on my listok, the dehydrator and hte dishwasher were already going, and I managed to email the nephew, but not done anything else, I was looking at the Healthy Supplies website, which sells sourdough and kombucha starters! Woo hoo! I'll work on an order next week.
Now ... the financial admin :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Have you eaten your frog yet??! :P (Oh, and I totally get how emailing a friend can become a frog - and the longer you leave it, the bigger the frog gets!)
Oh, don't buy a sourdough starter - it's dead easy to make - Dan Lepard's version is here. I had it going for a good while a few years ago until it died, but I've never made another as I've come to realise that I don't really like the flavour of sourdough - prefer quick n easy yeast
Discarded starter is great for the compost heap tooMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thank you for that linkie, madvix! Oh my word, thats the sort of blogpost I like to read - I really need to get out to the garden, but I'm going to copy that the minute I get back.
I haven't eaten my frog yet:o:o:o Thanks for your kind words.
Though I did open the post, sort through it and pay the cc ... it had the holiday payment on, so that was a relief.
I'm going to run away now - that frog is too big for the moment

We've lots of huge frogs hopping around our garden as there are plenty of suitable places for them an several water sources. I was going to say 'water features' but that sounds much too grand for the sort of Heath Robinson kind that OH has concocted:rotfl:.
Of course. they are real frogs and not the kind that's worrying you. I run a mile from they type of frogs you are avoiding. You're definitely not alone in that;). Good luck with it:beer:
OH came in this morning with a massive container full of blackberries he'd picked from various places in the garden. I usually keep on top of harvesting them myself but this summer I've let so much slide:o. I washed them and they all look pristine for a change. Will be freezing them once they've dried as there are plenty more to come according to OH. He loves very lightly stewed blackberry and apple, he'd eat it every mealtime if he could. Nice cheap dessert:j. The apple trees are absolutely laden with apples this year. He doesn't even want a crumble or pie making of them or the addition of cream or anything (although he is partial to a scoop or 2 of vanilla ice cream;)). I like dollop of Greek yoghurt with mine. Yum:)
Sadly, the birds have feasted on the cherries and plums this year:(0 -
I've eaten my frog :j:j:j
Only because madvix asked me about itI love the sort of frogs you have, CBC
And ooh, blackberries and apples
So, in total today I have (work and play):
- opened the post
- paid the cc
- eaten the frog, a long email to a lovely friend
- half a dozen texts and emails about selling the house
- emailed a freegle contact about something I won't be picking up.
- dehydrator on
- dishwasher on
- emailed nephew
- sat with Ginger Cat for a while, mutual admiration society
- bit more weeding, and maybe 30 litres of the bark chippings unloaded on this single solitary square of garden :rotfl:
Blog and scanning not done, grrr, but thats not a bad list.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well done on eating your frog KC!
Lovely tada list as well!:)4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! :j:j:j to the frog being well nd truly eaten:T
Not a bad tada list at all. KC:T:beer:. It's about 50 times more than I managed today:o
Your mention of Freegle reminded me that I need to re-offer a load of items on my local one. I was very cross last time I tried (last year) as I had lots of contact by email and phone about most of it, promises for it to be collected at specific times only to result in no-shows:mad:. I wouldn't have minded if it had just been one or two instances but this was 4 separate people who never turned up or even had the courtesy to let me know they wouldn't be coming. Proved very difficult if not impossible to contact them and find out if they still wanted the goods( their phones always going to voicemail for instance and messages never acted on:mad:). One potential collector seemed to disappear off the radar completely. It's all stuff that is useful and in good condition, maybe even saleable by the person who gets it. To be honest, once it's gone from me I don't care what they do with it;). For various reasons it's not suitable for charity shops (too bulky etc) but is years away from only being suitable for the tip. I'm talking about a lot of stuff, a big shed full really:o
Let's hope I can get that organised today. I bet my To Do list is a lot shorter than yours, KC:rotfl:. That's the only job on it:o0 -
Thanks both
CBC, fully doing that sort of job is a big thing, it *has* to be the only one on your list, I should think.
I've just been in preparation mode this morning - dishwasher, food prep, packing, tidying. This new dishwasher has a "cheapest" mode, not just a "quick" mode, and it won't be finished for more than an hour at time of writing2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
So pleased about your frog KC, perhaps it will spur me on to deal with my two, both e-mails, 1 to cousin and 1 to dear friend. We are going on holiday soon to W. Dorset, where we used to live, I would like to try and see her. I have been a lousy correspondent, not been depressed as such with illness, winter etc, but massive inertia:o
Today I have plants to put in, some cutting back to do and want to try and weed a small area at the front. Continuing with the battle to thwart the wild strawberries, couch grass and the self seeding Granny's Bonnets who insist of seeding themselves within plants that I love and want to nurture, and so it continues...........:rotfl:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
