OS Daily 16th October 07

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th oct. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning I seem to be the only one up these days.... Where are you all, sleepy heads!

Work today at 1. Nothing much doing yesterday, but I did manage a few things.
I bought a dozen chickens yesterday so I will collect them this morning and add them to my flock. Hopefully we will get some more eggs. I seel them at the door and at work and never have enough.

Now that my OH is back at college we have lost her income...£7500. Good old child tax credit was revised though and gave me an extra £40. :rotfl:
Better than nothing I suppose. They will take it all back and bill me for an overpayment when she gets a teaching job.... :o

Well folks have a nice day
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Morning N9eav & stefejb, I thought I had overdone the wine when I saw double on the daily.

It's raining heavily here, although I'm sure it wasn't forecast until later, although at least i will be able to get back to Pigpen's list of chores on the Flylady.
OH has gone to work and Miss Twit has a dental appointment this afto, so I will collect her from school at lunchtime.

Hugs to Pen-Pin and Tired Mum, I hope you are both doing well.

I hope all the poorlies are improving and the girls with bumps are taking it easy and not overdoing things.

I will be back on after the school run....take care.

Morning N9EAV - say welcome to the new chicks.

STEFEJIB - have just read your other post this morning! Hope your sniffles don't develop into the 'thread cold'. I lost my Dad years ago and he had had a bad childhood. My Mum's childhood was dreadful - she had the original wicked stepmother and some of the things she has told me are heartbreaking - I don't know how I'd feel if she wrote it all down. Your Dad obviously needs to get it down on paper. I hope you have a good time together.

Well, have just packed DH off with a massive packed lunch; he's working long hours now and needs his food! He finishes at 7pm so it makes it a long day.

Today's plan is to have a shower in a minute, then put the WM and BM on, make a salad for dinner, pop up to the post office to post some letters and then get some work done. I didn't think I was going to cough last night because it seemed so much better during the day but, as soon as I lay down, it started, so I'm feeling a bit tired. Luckily, it didn't disturb DH which was what I was worried about.

Well, hope everyone had a good morning. It's raining lightly here at the moment but too dark to see what the clouds are doing. It's not cold, though. No wonder everyone is catching colds and other bugs, our weather is so changeable.

Anyway, off to have a shower. Will drop in later.

    (((hugs))) to anyone feeling unwell.

  • Good morning everyone

stef if the wonderful Pink is around, I'm sure she will work her magic and merge the threads.

I couldn't sleep so believe it or not, I'm wrapping Christmas presents now. :o I'm taking DD and DS to Scotland at the weekend so I will take all the presents with me and then I know that they have been delivered. I want to reclaim my bedroom too - which is the *real* reason I'm taking all the presents up at the weekend. ;):D

DS is away on a residential trip until Thursday. The house was spookily quiet last night as DD had no-one to wind up and argue with. :T More than once she said she was bored. I pointed out that when her DB is on the Playstation, she wants to be on it. When he is on the PC, she wants to be on it. When he is doing something, she wants to be doing it. Soooooo, why isn't she making the best of it when he is gone? I think she is missing him tbh.

Started having a de-clutter yesterday as I was beginning to feel that I was drowning in paper, junk, mess, etc. The kitchen is already looking better. Will look much better when DD and I have finished making her maracas for her music lesson on Thursday. The things we mothers have to do for our children.

Will continue de-cluttering today and get a few other jobs that sorely need doing done too.

((((hugs)))) to everyone who needs/wants one. Haven't been able to keep up with the thread lately. Just don't seem to have the time. xx

    Morning all

well its a lovely crisp fresh morning so im going to get all the windows done, vaccuume through and mop the floors - and anything else that i find whilst im at it...have got my fettle head back ;) ..just going a bit slower as my calf is still a bit tender..,,, mind you i got the lawn done yesterday afternoon:T

we had corned beef hash n dumplings for dinner last night, so i have a portion of hash to micro at lunch time - the rest had more stock added and loads of aduki, pinto beans, lentils and split peas..cooked and then blitzed into a really thick broth/stew...
Hubby has taken a flask of it this morning with some fresh HM bread.... he had similar yesterday...the blokes were upset as it smelt lovely and it was sooo cold out and that kept hubby toasty warm :T ... and he loves it..and i cram all sorts of good stuff in there;)

today we are having fish HM parsley sauce, mashed potato n swede and lots of veggies,

Tonight is hubbies bowling night -so im going along to pop into the supermarket underneath to pick up a few bits..and then will watch them bowl - it breaks up the evening i guess

After everything is done today im going to sit and get on with my xstitch... want to get my "somebunny to love" birth sampler finished for SIL....

well i hope everyone is well and has a good day....hugs to all those in need

  • Morning everyone.

Its a chilly, bright morning here but I'm still going to go hang my washing out in a sec after I've put the kettle on.

What an industrious lot you are! Batch baking your hearts out and even making maracas. :D You've put me to shame so I'm going to write my flylady list in a moment, drop DS1 off to work, set DS2 on with his schoolwork and then fly at my housework.

I want to get all the cleaning bit out of the way so that I can have an hour or two batch cooking - need to make moussaka for tonights dinner, so will double up ingredients so I have one for the freezer.

Just remembered that I saved a portion of Coq au Vin from last nights tea for me today. Oh yum! Can't wait till lunch. :j

    Hi everybody:hello: :hello: :hello:

Hope you have all been well and happy while I have been away visiting Auntie. As usual lots of stories but we went to a Poor Mans/Rich mans supper a charity event . 100 people there-- 25 got a rich mans supper 4 courses, beautifully laid up,silver servive pus wine flowing . 75 people got the poor mans- soup and bread and a glass of water. Well a Rich Mans supper was drawn out of the hat for me and Mr Chalky got a poor mans. I cant tell you how he looked and continued to look as I was moved up the top table and he was left on a plastic table . Anyway I managed to slip some of the chicken into a napkin for him for later but he is only just getting over it !!

Anyway returned now and the house is upside down with lists as long as Santas as we try to get ready to get on the ferry on Sunday. Of course we will make it, but a lot to do and organise as we dont come back til the 18th Dec and I could not bear to have to "do" Christmas then.:xmassmile :snow_laug :santa2:

I have just found the more button on the advanced message page!!!

Well we are still doing the freezer/storecupboard challenge. Soup, soup, and more soup !!! Plus some very odd combos of other things. Still we will get there as we need the little freezer in the van to take to Spain.

Friends coming for supper tonight so its ( let me think ---) soup, tarts spaghetti then blackberry and apple crumble 2 more spaces in the freezer discovered.

N9eav-- Hope the chookies settle quickly and start laying my DS1 had chickens and people loved the eggs and he made a nice bit of pocket money --- til Brer Fox found them !!!

Mioliere- hope that cold finally slinks away.

Ellie 2912-- I hope the councelling session goes really well.

Mrs Macawber -- you sound busy.

Donny gal -- Hope everything is going well with you on your trip.

Hope Kyle is still having a wonderful time

:hello: :hello: :hello: to Heavenleigh and to everyone who likes a hello and maybe is just lurking.

Congratulations to all those celebrating and gentle thoughts to all those feeling sad or alone. Mrs Bumps -- bet you cant wait to hold your precious bundles-- lucky things.

Well must dash - off to work this afternoon- last time before we leave so MUST look forward to it!!!!
Try and do a good deed every day.
