Dumpling that looks great. Where did you say you got it from? Agree with NMN the shape lends itself really well to a hanging :T:T:T

Thank you, I got the charts, material and threads from 123stitch.com but as I said customs clobbered me so I will try and stick with UK sellers in the future. I do own a sewing machine but I have never used it as I am scared of it :rotfl:. I might be brave and have a go though as it would be nice to have it as a wall hanging. Maybe I will try it on something small first before I cut up my project . Right, I am off to look at halloween fabric now :D.

    That looks great!

With the sewing mechine, I'd practice on an old pillow case first, then a scrap of aida and your backing fabric to make sure all is well with that fabric combo.

Oooh Dumpling I love the Hallowe'en piece. Well done on stitching it so quickly. I too am scared of my sewing machine - I wonder if that phobia has a name lol. I haven't picked my stitching up all week. Three interviews (one at a company, two with agencies) which meant two days up to London. Don't feel I can spare the time to stitch when I don't have a job :(

Had DD's GCSE results on Thursday - she did really well and has the grades she needs to stay on for sixth form. Friends 50th party last night - didn't get in until 2am, so I'm still in my dressing gown and just wondering when would be a good time to walk round and fetch the car.....it's raining cats and dogs but the air will do me good I'm sure.

May do some crafting later as won't be able to tidy the garden due to the rain.

    Have a good day all,
    Coxy

    Morning!
Did some stitching yesterday on Pretty Little London. Managed to stitch some of the River Thames! DH and I then watched the first two episodes of Bodyguard on catch up. Enjoyed it, though a couple of jumpy moments!

Hi everyone, I have been sidetracked this week by some lovely sparkly purple yarn and I am two thirds through knitting a scarf for myself. I think it was guilt through having boxes of yarn looking reproachfully at me in my bedroom. Anyhoo, I have one more ball of yarn to knit up and then I am returning to my cross stitch although I did start a stitched Christmas card which was a freebie from a magazine.

Speaking of which, do any of you buy any of the cross stitch magazines? I have taken out a subscription to Cross Stitch Crazy and World of Cross Stitching as I love doing the free kits. There are some lovely charts in them and I like reading about what other stitchers are making.

Hope you all have a great weekend coming up and get to do lots of cross stitch. Take care xx

    Morning all,
I managed some more of Pretty Little London yesterday. Did some more of the Thames and a black taxi. It's quite an easy chart, with blocks of colour- only trouble is it's on 18ct aida :(
Dumpling - I've had subscriptions to cross stitch crazy in the past. Used to go for the 5 issues for £5 offer then cancel.
I've an interview today - civil service position, temping for 3 months. Feeling quite nauseous just thinking about it :( even if im not successful, at least it's experience of interviewing.

    Hi everyone,

No stitching or crafting done at all this week :( I was successful in getting the temp assignment and start on Monday (my bday!) so this week I've been trying to get up straight with the hw and seeing people before the madness of full-time working starts again. I can't complain as I've had 8 weeks off (2 of which were planned holiday) but obviously haven't felt in the best of places for a lot of that time. I was trying to see whether a part time position would be better, but we need the money and I need to get over myself and man up!

DH took yesterday off (instead of Monday) and we went to a large craft fayre in deepest Kent. Lovely selection of items, loads of really pretty jewellery (I am a bit of a magpie, lovely anything shiny/sparkly) but we were sensible and got a couple of Christmas pressies, I got a lovely thermal lunch bag (sort of CKidston like fabric) a coaster for my new desk and a diary for next year. I am nothing if not practical!
Had lunch out and tea and cake, such a lovely day.

The church craft group I started will begin meeting again at the end of the month. I am going to try to make some more knitted poppies for the display - have made 10 so far. They knit up fairly quickly so I might pop this in my bag for the train commute.

Hope you are all doing okay.

    Hi everyone

Congratulations on your new job Coxy and a very Happy Birthday for Monday as well. The craft fayre sounds lovely, I am also a magpie.

I have been crafting but doing more knitting than cross stitch I am afraid. I have made a knitted Halloween wreath which looks very cute and I am starting another scarf today as I have so much yarn it's embarrassing. I have nearly finished a cute little cross stitch penguin though which will make a nice card for someone.

I am fortunate in that I have had a lot of spare time on my hands over the Summer but I am starting home schooling my youngest from tomorrow so that will take up a fair chunk of time every day. I am definitely putting craft lessons on our curriculum though.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday, take care xx
