maman is it all your fault for taking your eye off the ball?

I'm not a fan of May either but I have to say I think she coped well today, she must have had a rough few days and she took a battering in parliament but she held her head up and stood up to them. I have to admire that, credit where credit is due.

Agree. I did wonder on Sunday when Dave showed up at the Cenotaph whether she was tempted to say to him 'That's another fine mess......'

That's half a pound in the right direction LL.:T Not bad considering you've eaten out this week too. I always think it's much harder to choose healthy food with a restaurant/pub menu.

I have an optician's appointment this afternoon. I've had annual checks for years because my mother developed glaucoma in later life. Hopefully all is well with me.:)

I went for black jeans, my dark green chiffon blouse and black velvet jacket yesterday. I took my black pashmina with me just in case it was cold in the restaurant but didn't need it. I also made the final decision to keep the black lace bodysuit from New Look. I didn't actually need it but decided I'd enjoy feeling good wearing it under my blouse which is a bit transparent. Much nicer than my bog standard black camisole.

It's surprising that you can feel fab with nice underwear as well as top clothes. I know I've had a lot of pleasure from my Victoria's Secret knickers. Hope that doesn't sound dodgy.:o

This weekend promises to be beautifully sunny and the last of the mild weather. I'm hoping we can get out and do something outdoors to enjoy it. No plans yet but I'm sure we'll think of something.:)
  • I'm thinking of going to a Christmas Market before the weather gets too cold to enjoy it. Won't be spending anything, well maybe a hot drink, but I do like the atmosphere and to be honest I don't get out in the evening much so will be a nice change.
  • i am going the long awaited trip to the recycling centre. cleaning out the shed was like indiana jones job. i have extra everything left by the last owners. but one step at a time and have decided that i have enough food to motor through a flood or natural disaster thanks to a special on tinned goods. my cupboards look like a survivalist. i only need a touch of duct tape and will be rocking the look. so extra to send on something fab.

i got the estee lauder christmas box set and looks nice. i need to pan some make up before i even start on that.

re politics: despite having the Washington post on subscription for a number of years and avid reader of politico ( eu and us), reading newspapers and ect sometimes i like to leave politics at the waters edge as sometimes we can not control the issues. However i can make sure that i still try to be absolutely trying every day to look some what neat and put together.

Agree with the feeling powerless as you describe sft . I think the main problem this time is that it's not a 5 year plan. It's going to to affect this country for generations to come.:(

Ah, duct tape......where would we be without it. :rotfl: solves so many of life's little niggles.

As you know I worked on site for years. I never went anywhere without a roll of duct tape in my bag. I even took it on interviews so when asked some damn fool question about how I would handle a hypothetical tricky situation I would pull out the roll of duct tape, plonk it on the desk, and say, with a cheeky grin, "well I find this stuff usually works".

Well the hedge is down. I have gained another four foot wide strip down the length of the garden and at least 12 square feet in one of the corners. Perfect for a little summerhouse. ;). And although today was dark and dull it has made a huge difference to the amount of light.

Plumber also came round and helped me plan the bathroom. He had some brilliant ideas on how to rejig the layout. Just need to pop down to builders merchants over the weekend to make my final selections.

I'm shattered now. So a nice early dinner and maybe watch a nice film, although I'll probably doze through it.

Word has got out among neighbours that I'm a trained beauty therapist who can do massages. I have been asked if I am taking on clients..........I have said I need to get a bit straighter first.......

A couple of days a week would suit me fine.

I have also been asked by a recruitment agency which specialises in supplying negotiators for holiday and sickness cover if I'm interested. I said I would need to do a refresher course for health and safety and maybe some form of computer training. They said they can help out with that, that they have a special 4 day refresher course as part of their programme.

Sounds good to me. Maybe next spring, when the weather is kinder. :rotfl:

Sounds like you've had a very productive day LL.:) Do let us know when you've decided how to do the bathroom.

All was well at the optician. Minimal if any change to my eyesight. I'm pleased about that for obvious reasons but also because my Orla Kiely glasses and my Raybans that I bought last year won't need to be changed.:)

I took a couple of bags of stuff to the CS. As it was only 2 carriers full I walked to Age Concern. Generally CRUK get most donations locally as they're the only ones with a car park. I also bought a dress while I was in there. It's royal blue velvet with short sleeves and a slightly flared skirt. It'll be nice for dancing.:)

Meal plan and shop done so we can eat well for another week.:)
  • After being messed about all week I've sorted out my Sky subscription and saved, wait for it, drum roll .............................£21.50 per month. All thanks to Martin.

LL have you got any idea of how much the bathroom is going to cost, I really need to get mine done and I've got no clue what it will cost. it isn't a big bathroom so I'm hoping it won't be too horrific.
  • Sorry, it won't shut me up and as I said above if you really want to stop a European army then stay in the EU and veto it. Once we are out we have no say.

Personally - I believe in democracy...so my response to "won't shut up" is not a polite one to those that don't believe in abiding by our democratic decisions.

    At a practical level - once we're out - we don't need a say:)
