  • I've been busy this morning and have got most of my Christmas presents wrapped. I hate wrapping presents and always feel a tremendous sense of relief when it is done so I will press on later today. The next horror is writing the dreaded Christmas cards once that's done I can look forward to all the nice Christmas stuff.
  • Good morning lovely ladies.

A nice bright sunny Morning, although a tad breezy. :rotfl:

I have been for my acupuncture already. Time for some brunch and then a walk to the shops and then crack on with that spring planting.

I have decided not to bother with the back windows today. The tree surgeons come on Friday and the new fencing on Saturday, there will be dust and debris everywhere so I may as well wait and do the windows after they've finished.

Have developed a bit of a twinge in one of my teeth so I have booked a dentist appt for next Monday, as well as a massage. (Set me up for my holiday).

Instead of cleaning windows I'm aiming to make some potions either today or later in the week.

Christmas.....I have bought about half of my gifts. Not sure what to get The girls this year. They are chalk and cheese in their styles. One of them also has a birthday in 18th December.

I am meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow so I might have a mooch then. Although I was thinking I might pick up some nice bits and pieces whilst I am on holiday. Madeira is nice for knitwear and it might be interesting to see what I can find in Morroco.

Btw. I have started a thread on the old style board called Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget. :rotfl: thought I would Try and pick up some tips from the wise ladies on there how to live a life of luxury on a pittance. :rotfl:

You're all very welcome to join in the fun.

    Right better get cracking.

  • My jolly morning has ground to a halt. Sick GC picked up from school, DH can't get out of bed, he really isn't good at the moment but he won't eat. Hard to feel happy for long.

Sorry to hear that your day went t*ts up humpty.:( Hopefully your family will start to get better very soon.

You did achieve a lot though. Well done for wrapping presents and it's only mid November.:T

I've used my normal serum this morning as I needed to go out early for a dental appointment. My skin was really good yesterday though with the flaxseed oil. It stayed beautifully hydrated and soft all day. I'm impressed and will definitely do it again when I have time to pamper. I've got about 2 weeks of cod liver oil left before starting on taking the flaxseed capsules(which is why I bought them). It'll be interesting to see if I notice any other improvements.:)

And just how long are parents supposed to store their offsprings school and childhood treasures. :rotfl: they have their own establishments now. They can be their own custodians now.

We had stuff from our girls for years after they left home. Then we needed our roof refeltng and it was a blessing in disguise. We had to completely clear the loft. DD1 lives near so we said come and take what you want and we'll dispose of the rest to CS/tip. DD2 lives further away so we put everything in the car and put it in her garage for her to sort at leisure. Then I had a big slim down of Christmas Decs and put what was left in a large plastic box which fits into the understairs cupboard. Sorted.:D

Our paperwork is fairly well organised, mostly in box files which fit on one of the bookcases in the study. There was far too much though which is why we had a massive culling and shredding session the other week. :)

Like you though LL, I still have far too much stuff in general. If I can attack the paperwork then I can attack the rest.:)

Picked up my Clnique and Benefit bits this morning from Boots. So effortless doing click and collect. I don't need the items at the moment but the prices were so good for things I'll use that I wanted to take advantage.

I had a quick mooch in a few CSs while I was out. I picked up a long sleeved grey Gap top. I prefer it to the one I bought in TKMaxx so that may go back. It's more a charcoal grey and I like the lower neckline. £3.99 won't break the bank.

Dancing again tonight. I might wear yet another dress!:D It's still lovely and mild here so don't really need a thick skirt yet.
  • Thanks maman, I've managed to do a bit more wrapping. Not much left now and I think I have everything. I'm feeling down but can only carry on. GS seems to be having a miraculous recovery now schools over, if only DH could improve.

I've been really bad, I've eaten so much chocolate I feel ill. Serves me right, eating chocolate never cured anything.

Glad your skin enjoyed the flaxseed oil, click and collect is great isn't it. I usually look to see if a shop is on topcash back and then do the order. Sometimes you only get pennies but I've got £60 plus in my account so it does add up.

    Enjoy your dancing.

Maybe not but if it made you feel good at the time.;)

I don't have a sweet tooth really but there are a few things I enjoy and am planning for treats to myself Christmas. I think I can trust myself to buy them now and put them away. One is those marzipan bars they sell in Lidl and the other is cherry liqueurs, The cherry ones I can get in Aldi. I've always loved marzipan. The year my DD was born I bought a block (actually several) for the Christmas cake but it never got that far. :o

I'll also need to buy some stollen bites from Aldi. DH loves them but as he's trying to lose weight at the moment I'll definitely hide them from him. They can sell out of them so it's worth buying now.

I've used the flaxseed oil as a serum again today. As I realised there's loads in a capsule I smoothed it well down my neck as well as my face so nothing like as greasy today. It feels good and if it helps to replace/eke out my Clarins serum then that's very mse. :money:

I made my hair appointment for Monday. I'm determined not to let it grow all straggly.

Out to lunch tomorrow so a chance to get fabbed up. :)
  • The Aldi cocoa dusted almonds did for me. Bought some for Christmas, DD loves them and so do I so I thought they would be a treat with a good film. Half of them are gone. Today I have moved on to mince pies, I have a bit of a thing for the Sainsbury's iced ones, so no top crust just icing.

If I don't cheer up I think I am going to give myself diabetes which definitely won't cheer me up.

I'm overdue for the hairdresser, I decided to leave it till after Christmas and then go sometime in January to a local hairdresser who has been recommended. I normally have very short hair so she wouldn't have had much to work with so I thought let it grow for a few months and then look at something new, I want to look great for DDs wedding. I'm not sure if I can hold out as straggly hair isn't lifting my mood. I did treat myself to some expensive hair stuff, well expensive for me who normally buys whatever is on offer. It was from QVC and at first I wasn't impressed but suddenly this week it looks very healthy and shiny. Now is it the shampoo/conditioner or all the oil I'm taking? Or a mixture? Not sure but it did give me a bit of a boost when I was drying it.

I've wrapped all remaining Christmas presents, no mean feat as with 4 kids, their partners, six GC and DH and all getting 3 or 4 things it was massive. No expensive presents, most are something edible (chocolates or fancy chilli oils) some toiletries, socks (I swear sons would still be in school socks if left to it) and then maybe a book or something, for the children an outfit, selection box, book, coloured pencils with names on, colouring book, puzzle or small toy. Varies a bit according to age but probably spent about £30 to £40 on each but I think they are all things they will like. The children then get some money into their savings. Nearly forgot tickets to a local event which will be for most of them but with me at home with the littlest one.

I am likely to have more GC, I know DD and her fiance have that in their plans. It gets expensive and chaotic but it is fun if exhausting.

Glad the flax seed is suiting you, I think my skin is so dry it just drinks it up but I do put it all down my neck as well.

I should go and sort out food but I'm waiting to see what Mrs May says about Brexit, they said they were expecting her to make a statement at 5 but no sign of her yet.
  • I'm trying not to think too much about Brexit - and am out tonight (and there will be wine). I'm just nerving myself to "take a peek" at the news at breakfast time tomorrow - as I'm scared I will be disappointed that we won't get what we voted for and there'll be little/if any sign of our "borders going back up again" (which is what we basically voted for imo).
  • I voted leave so I definitely don't want the same as you Money. The problem for you is they weren't clear about what leave meant so they won't necessarily think the same as you. The whole thing is a mess.

The Irish border is the big problem I think.
