SFT......wow. Well done you on turning that corner. You are so right, stress is dreadful to our bodies. Not only does it make is ill, but as if that wasn't bad enough, the knock on effects shows in our faces too. It can add years whilst at the same time, if it really gets out of hand, it can shorten our lives.
Hope the new job is all your hope for and good luck with your fabbing journey. Sounds like you are making good progress. Onwards and upwards.
Well the silly half wall between my kitchen and dining room is half down....the builder is just having 5 minutes. Of course there's dust everywhere, but you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, it will all be worth it.
I can't really get in the kitchen so I went out for brunch in one of garden centres and then did some diy shopping in Wilkinson's. Bought some chalk paint ready to have a go at a pine dresser.
i do enjoy people watching as you know. Today a couple of things struck me with the garden centre clientelle. Most were middle aged ladies, wearing beige:eek: and most of them were rather large.
They all seemed to be tucking into a huge piece of coffee and walnut cake. (probably today's special). My whole breakfast, including a rare treat of a piece of white toast, would have had fewer calories, more nutritional value and more filling power that a wedge of sugary carbs. I won't need to eat again until this evening and then it will be a light supper rather than a large evening meal.
Seriously many of them waddled rather than walked.
I realise it's only a garden centre and not a society wedding
but really so many of them just looked awful, so dowdy. I wanted to shake them and say just look at yourselves.......oh dear I sound so judgemental but I hate to see people neglect themselves like that, making themselves old and unhealthy. I have been that dowdy bag lady and I swear I'm not gong back there again.
I know it's hard sometimes and we don't always feel like making the effort. Sometimes it seems like a long slog and we might be tempted to throw in the towel but it is worth it in the end.
Just keeeeeep fabbing and you WILL reap the rewards of all your hard work.
It's another lovely day, going to try out my new strimmer.
So rock and roll. :rotfl:0 -
Hello Ladies,
SFT you are doing so well with your fabbing. Long may you stay on this positive personal journey
Humpty I have been singing at Karaoke for years now, that is why I am comfortable singing in public. I even auditioned for The X Factor a few years back and had a lot of fun doing so even though I did not get to the 4th round and on television. I only got to the 2nd round of auditions which I still found amazing. as I had expected to be sent home after my 1st audition.
Unfortunately for me I feel as if I am coming down with a virus, which is a nuisance as I have plans to go to Birmingham this weekend to stay with my sister R. My throat is really raw at the moment and my chest is very tight. I have over the counter medication which I am taking and hopefully will make enough difference by Friday when I intend to travel.
I went to Karaoke last night and had a fabulous night out that only cost me £1.75 in total.I danced a lot and I sang 3 songs:
Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan
Return To Sender by Elvis
Fever by Peggy Lee
There were lots of other singers so it was a good job I got there early.0 -
I've been out to lunch and was able to eat lots as I've found out I've lost another 1.5 lbs, doctor won't be happy as he wants me to put on a couple of pounds. I'm still within a healthy BMI but at the lower end I do look like a waif. Not sure why I'm still losing weight but I think I was eating less when I was ill and I now feel full up with a smaller meal. I'm going to have cake and a coffee in a minute, need to make sure I don't lose any more.
It's a funny world isn't it, so many of us struggling with weight but from opposite ends of the problem.
It is a lovely day here and still busy with holiday makers, lots of families because of half term. It's nice for people to have a break before winter sets in.
I'm due to have my hair cut but I've decided to leave it for a few weeks and then try a new hairdresser, since my hairdresser moved I haven't found anyone I really like and I need to try and get it sorted so I feel good at daughter's wedding next year. I might get it coloured, funnily enough I have hardly any white hair but the red has sort of stripped out of my hair and it is a very dark battleship grey which doesn't do much for my complexion. Not sure what to do but will experiment a bit and see what I think, I've got time to see what I think.
Sugarbaby I admire you even more, the idea of singing in front of anyone would terrify me let alone the Xfactor.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather.0 -
Well the dividing wall is down and I am thrilled with the result. I knew it would look good but It has exceeded my expectations, the room is now flooded with light.
By the way I'm taking lots of photos as we go so I'll find a way of posting before and after pictures at some point. Maybe a little private blog.
Popped into a chazzer whilst I was out, bought a grey wool fishtail herringbone patterned maxi skirt. Fully lined, so Nice and cosy whilst being quite glamourous. Not bad for £3, so it passed the cup of coffee test.
The cup of coffee test??
Well if I see something I quite like but am not lusting after or actually need, then if it's the price of a cup of coffee or less then I will indulge, especially as it will have fewer calories than a full fat latte. :rotfl:0 -
I have never bought anything other than books and cards in a charity shop. The stuff always looks squashed together and unappealing. DD has had some great bargains, though.
We went to a funeral yesterday. I decided to wear heels! Oh, yea gods, what a mistake. We had a four hour drive to get there and a decent walk. It wasn't until 7.30 that I was able to take them off!
There's a limit to fabbing!
Mind you, I did get the 'Oh, you look just like Julie Walters' again. I didn't expect that as my face looks much thinner now. I'm afraid I look more like Kevin Bacon! :eek:Member #14 of SKI-ers club

Of course the "cup of coffee" test could be amended, if need be, to the "price of a magazine" test. That would bring it up to around £5.:)0

SFT - Well done. I decided a couple of months ago that I was fed up looking like a bag lady and decided to take myself in hand. Regular skin routine, etc and you soon notice the difference. I need to loose a fair amount of weight as well and that's the part that I'm finding difficult but I reckon that eating healthily, cutting out snacking and alcohol and walking a little more will see the excess gone gradually. I also like food with a kick and find adding, chilli, harissa or something like that spices up a chicken casserole.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0

I've only ever bought books or cards in charity shops as well. I'm no good at looking for things in charity shops/jumble sales/car boots. I think some people just are and some aren't. If my husband is feeling well he loves a car boot, I just look and think I've thrown better stuff out. I get a feeling it is a self fulfilling prophecy as I don't expect to find anything and I don't, my husband is just as convinced he will find things and he almost always does.
I had to look Kevin Bacon up as I couldn't remember who he was, I can sort of see him as a thinner Julie Walters. I'm sure you are more fab than either of them :T0 -
chanie it is getting even more complicated! I've now had an £8 off a £50 shop at Sainsburys. I definitely need to work out how to get the best value for all this.0

The nearest Sainsbury's to us is 11 miles away, so it's a careful calculation about using vouchers. The petrol is good and reasonable, more do with a discount. There's good competition in the area keeping prices down.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
