Now I have a dilema! Do I buy things in the Sainsburys 25% off or do I wait for the Nectar double up? I can't decide. Think I need to see what else I could buy in the double up. Decisions, decisions.

Ooo, that is a difficult dilemma. I would be agonising over this decision, to maximise the savings.
  • Yes chanie that is exactly what I'm doing, I shoudn't moan should I if that's the worst dilemma I have. So nice to get the maximum value though. It's swipe and win this weekend as well so need to break my shopping down into £10 chunks to get the maximum so if I buy clothes in the 25% off I also have the chance of getting up to 5000 nectar points. I think I need to ask Carole Vordeman to work it out for me.

Had my hair cut and coloured this morning. Makes me feel so much better. Football on TV tonight so I can get started on catching up on proper manicure etc - all the things that I didn't get done properly whilst away.

I have a huge to do list. Starting to work through that tomorrow.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Last time I had my hair cut - well I peered at it in the mirror at hairdresser and thought "You know what - it is actually a pretty nice colour of itself these days (ie the shade of white it's gone). Though I'd still like my 'younger' colour back again". So I guess that's something - as I don't often (trans. = very rarely) look at the colour of anyone's hair and think it's nice. So it'll do....:)

Bits and pieces of older clothing still getting chucked out bit by bit. I think I'm finally getting the idea sunk into my head that my income is secure now. When I was working I had years (trans. decades) of worrying whether my income was secure (ie the insecurity never left me after a wrongful-selection-for-redundancy in my 30's/another redundancy/finally an unfair dismissal). All the way through my many years in the Civil Service that insecurity was still there (with good reason in my case:cool:).

It's finally finally sunk in that my income is now secure at last (now that it's State pension and Civil Service pension). - I've only been retired for about 5 years now:rotfl: I know I was "saving" various items of clothing that "would do at a pinch" just-in-case I needed new clothing and couldnt afford it.

So the throw-outs heading out the door now are those items of clothing I was "saving just in case". I feel confident enough to bin them at last:)

Found a pair of new jeans in my wardrobe that I've never worn yet and know I bought back before I moved. I can get them on/do them up - they're just not comfortable yet. They are obviously going to be "comfortable" pretty soon now and then I'll know I've lost all the "Welsh weight" (ie I bought them before I moved here and then gained a noticeable amount of weight since moving here). Then what I've got left to shift is the "weight gained in my 50s back in the West Country".

Good to hear you're feeling comfortable in yourself money and roll on (or should that be roll off) the comfortable jeans.:D

It's quite cathartic clearing stuff out. I don't know who coined the phrase 'less is more' but I think it's a good maxim. I know it was Marie Kondo who wrote about just keeping things you really love (to which I'd add some useful basic utensils etc) but I think that's a good one too.

I can't remember what date you gave to when women's sizes changed but I remembered I've kept the dress I was wearing when I met DH in 1977! It's a size 12 and it still fits. It's probably a bit of a cheat as it has a slightly flared skirt but I'm pleased. It's from Richard Shops, remember them?;)

Glad you're pleased with your hair TF. It's such a boost.:)

Spent the morning with my DD1 as she's off for half term. We had a lovely few hours. We went to the nail shop and I had the shellac taken off, we browsed a few shops and then stopped for a coffee.

Dancing tonight. I think it's still just about warm enough not to wear tights. I'd rather wait until it's really cold and go straight into opaques.

Still lovely autumn weather here although getting colder in the mornings. I've been having the heating on just to take the chill off.

toni well done on getting your hair cut.

    Maman enjoy your dancing tonight.

Money well done on your declutteting.

It’s half term here, so I was off work today, for some much needed time with the children. I have been kind of feeling sorry for myself recently as I no longer work compressed hours and I really miss having a day to myself/doing thr school run. Today, we went out with some friends from the children’s school and the other mums were telling me that they also found things difficult, but for different reasons. I feel much better now, knowing that. The weather was nice as well, which helped.

Whilst the children were at tuition, I popped into Sainsburys and picked up a jacket, that was half price, plus with the 25% off, I was £14. I didn’t need it, but it was a good price and I can wear it to work.

Sounds like a bargain. Sometimes it's hard to say no isn't it. I quite like Sainsbury's clothes, their regular trousers are exactly the right length for me so no sewing required.
  • I have turned a corner and moved away from my high stress role to hopefully something less stressful. I have learned stress is bad for the body- my skin, weight and heart. I lost all interest in anything other than dealing with the stress, overworked and under resourced. It is the same story everyone has but i really found that i did not have time to look after myself. Take aways and no moisturizer are terrible for the skin and scales.
i bought a scales and it was not great 12 stone, bmi 29.9 (borderline obesity) not ideal and time for action. i got my slow cooker and preparing healthy food and making a better decision each day. chicken casserole and porridge ,,, not the same meal ... are prepared. i prefer food with a kick so will gladly accept any interesting recipes.

i got a loreal skin facial sugar scrub.... marvelous, gentle but got rid of loads of dry skin, gently effective. lashed on loads of oil and beginning to see the benefits.

That's a very positive post sft.. So glad you've found a less stressful life and can definitely commend healthy eating. Well done!:T

It's a difficult one chanie but as you're still relatively new in your role it's probably better to wait a while before asking to change hours. Glad the other mums were able to reassure you though.:)

Interesting article in my paper this morning. Wednesday is the day for fashion articles. Briefly, it's saying that despite fashion journalists trying hard to tell us otherwise, skinny jeans are still incredibly popular. That pleased me, not just because of the jeans but also affirmation that the majority of the population won't just follow fashion blindly.:) Other features were on puffy coats (warm and lightweight), big handbags (good idea, very practical) and patterned trousers (winter trousers don't have to be drab). I've seen some tartan pairs around and various patterns and colours so I might look into it.

Nothing pressing on today so took some time over my shower and hair. Started my favourite shower crème (Argan Rose) so bathroom smelled wonderful.:)

I oiled my nails well last night and plan to keep pampering them while I'm watching TV of an evening.:)

    Still glorious weather here.:D
