Thanks Silvasava I will try wedding guest and have a look at Kaleidoscope.
Good luck with the hairdresser, the chap I was using has moved on and I haven't found anyone as good.0 -

.
I agree with silva . Keep away from the outfits advertised as 'Mother of the Bride '! What time of the year is the wedding? Is it all indoors?
If you have a John Lewis nearby lots of their concessions have good dresses like Hobbs and Jigsaw.
I went to a wedding in May. Most of the principal guests wore posh frocks, tailored jackets in pale colours (but it was summer) and fabulous shoes. There were a few hats but mostly fascinators.
How exciting!0 -
It's an Easter wedding, can all be inside but there is a lovely garden so if the weather is nice we will spend some time out there.
I have had a look at John Lewis on line but maybe I need to go and look, I didn't think of the concessions.
I wish I could go in jeans.0 -
Has anyone had anything from Roman Originals? I've seen a dress I like the look of but we don't have a local branch. Just wondered if it would be worth the journey to have a look.0

Have had lots of things over the years from Roman - they do some really lovely things so even if the dress isnt 'you' there may be something else to try - take a look at their sale rail too if there's one there - bargains to be hadSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Thanks for that silvasave. The dress I like, and matching jacket, are in the sale so a bargain if I like them. I might order on line, I'm torn between ordering a 10 or a 12 but I guess I could order both and send one back?0
-
I've bitten the bullet and ordered it. I could only order it in one colour, there were two I liked but the jacket wasn't available so my colour was chosen for me. I'm crossing my fingers as I hate clothes shopping so this will be a big relief if it is all sorted. All I need then will be shoes (a whole new nightmare) and a bag which isn't such a big deal.
Forgot to say I got 1/3 off so quite a good saving.0 -
Humpty - do you have any 'good' charity shops in your area? You can often pick up beautiful bags (& sometimes shoes) that have only been used once!
I must admit while I do like to look nice and presentable I do temper it with how often I will wear/use the item.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Keep us posted humpty. Hope you like the outfit when it arrives.:)Humpty - do you have any 'good' charity shops in your area? You can often pick up beautiful bags (& sometimes shoes) that have only been used once!

That's right. I'm a great believer in 'cost per wear' too.
We were out last night at DH's 4th (and I think last;)) birthday meal for this year. It was dinner with dancing. I wore an animal print jumpsuit that I bought in the CS in the summer. I think I paid £8 for it so I won't mind if I never wear it again. I bought it for my holiday but as it's lined it was too hot to wear. It's this one by Per Una.

Being Per Una, there's always something they don't quite get right. In this case it was floaty, little cap sleeves which made it look frumpy IMO. I cut them off and made it sleeveless.
It's much cooler here today but still bright. I'm trying to put off wearing a proper coat so compromised with a hoodie.
Nothing much planned for the weekend but I'm pleased. I'm looking forward to eating in and putting my feet up.:)0 -

That is a good idea about the bag, my feet are challenging so the chances of finding something for them is probably remote, I have enough trouble in shoe shops, but it is worth looking. I spend my life in sandals or ankle boots, shoes always rub on my ankle bones, my husband couldn't believe that new shoes always make my feet bleed until he saw it for himself. I can do better with sling backs so I will be looking for sandals or sling backs. The last wedding I went to I bought some lovely shoes but only wore them once and gave them to my daughter who loved them. I'm not totally useless after all:rotfl:
Just realised I'm being a bit literal, the charity shop might have sandals! I don't know where my brain is today.
I think my best local charity shop is the hospice one but there is also a nice animal charity one. If the dress looks good on I can start my next hunt.0
