The Compers Inn (part 48)

Well "Eleanor" is causing plenty of rain and wind here. Don't know how we will get to sleep tonight. It has rained most of the day apart from a few hours in the afternoon when we managed a walk and hung out some towels. The grass is really saturated.
The next few days look like they will be really wet too. Not a good start to the year!Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Not much wind here shiels but it is expected overnight.0

Morning peeps. It is absolutely freezing here this morning. Had rain all night wind was not too bad but has started to pick up a bit now. Nipped over to shop for some fresh milk and got soaked (takes me about two minutes to get there and two back.) Hope you are ok shiels down in the borders as you seemed to have it a lot worse than us. Hope everyone else is well and things were not too bad overnight.0

Good Morning,
We are fine thanks rose. It has been a wild night and flooding was supposed to be a problem although I haven't heard anything. Will be scared to go out and check the house and garden though. There is still a wind blowing out there. We are up on a hill anyway away from the river estuary.
That will be us back to normal today. We usually get our mail hours late today as the postmen have 2 days to deliver. DH used to hate today as he said it was their busiest day of the year.
Hope everyone else is fine.

Morning, wind and rain here all night as well. My reed fence has come down in some parts but not even attempting to put it up again till wind dies down.Just catching up with housework today, and comping. Hope you all have a lucky day.0

Morning. We had wind here too last night but not too bad. DS is due to go back today and we are picking GS up from school so hope it calms down. Love your pic Sheils.
Hope you are nice and warm indoors now Rose.
Thanks for link re bids Alfie. Over holiday period I was on the phone looking out of bedroom window and thought I was seeing things when I saw not one but two blue tits in garden. Like you mummytothreeboys its mainly been magpies in recent years.
Hope you had a rest and some nice food Firefly. Take care.
Indie hope you rest up on day off.
Lets hope for some wins soon. Be lucky.0 -
:hello: Good morning everyone
Hope you're all ok. Love your choice of pic this morning sheils -
very fitting! Hope you haven't been too badly affected. xx
We had horrendous winds and rain through the night - am
guessing that we just had the tail end of the storm - but even
so it sounded dreadful!
Had a swift trot around the garden this morning, mainly to
check on my two wooden gates which are dodgy at the best of
times. Thankfully they were still upright!
The sun is out now and the wind has more or less calmed
down and no rain at the mo either.
Sorry to hear that you got drenched this morning rose. Nothing
worse than getting soaked in freezing temperatures - brrrrrr!
Hope you manage to sort out your reed fence indie once the
wind has died down where you are.
So pleased the wind wasn't too bad up your way leanfun.
Hopefully our end of the country seems to have escaped the
wrath of Storm Eleanor.
So pleased that you are managing to get a little bit sorted out
now fire**fly & slowly getting organised. No wonder you're
exhausted - it's never easy. Hope you had a good sleep last
night. :Amummy2threeboys wrote: »HI all! Alfie love birdwatch count..we live in urban area, all we get is magpies, pigeons, collared doves, wood pigeons starlings, We did used to get blue tits, great tits and wagtails, but then neighbour cut the only tree downI have since replanted an apple tree, maybe this time in next year we will have millions of birds hey Rodney?
Oh, so sorry to hear of the only tree being felled
mummy2threeboys! Poor birdies!
Just had a quick look on the site and found the following info
which is brilliant. :T

Quote from site:
Oh no! It can be really frustrating if all your garden regulars don't
show up on the day you do Big Garden Birdwatch.
If you watch for an hour but don't see a dicky bird, we'd still like
you to tell us about it!
Even a total of 0 birds is still useful data to us - it's as important to
know where there weren't any birds as where there were lots.
There are also questions about the other wildlife you might see in
your garden year-round. If you're disappointed in your birds' lack
of loyalty, we'd love you still to send in your results.
The pack can also be downloaded.
That was lovely to see two blue tits leanfun - please say you'll
give it a go - it only takes up an hour of your time - and you can
make yourself very comfortable indoors by a window looking out
into your garden - pretty pretty please. :j Will be your best friend
for ever and ever. :A
I've allocated a space by my patio doors which is an excellent
viewing position! Fingers crossed etc!
Crikes - just watching the TV while I'm typing this and the
storm has caused so much damage - frightening! They were
doing a live interview with a reporter at Blackpool and the
poor woman could barely talk/stand! Don't know why on
earth they have to do these live interviews in such
atrocious conditions!
Well - must get on- got so many comps to catch up on!
Have a lovely and lucky day all and please take care whatever
you're up to.

Saw that interview alfie. I would have been nowhere near the sea if it was me. I have hail stones bouncing of the windows now.0

Crikey! Got caught in a hailstorm just before Xmas and boy was
it painful!
It's pouring with rain here at the mo and the wind is kicking off
again.

Just bought the grandkids a Nintendo Wii on hot uk deals for £20. It is second hand but has a years guarantee and has been refurbished. Have got it for when they are here save them trailing their dads old one when they come down. Just need to bring their games. Dad has an Xbox now that I won and gave to him.0
