    Happy new Years Eve

FBO Hope you are still staying strong
NMLC Hope you manage to visit your mum today and she is OK

Slept an insane 91/2 hours last night :) I should feel full of beans but not there yet.

Had a bacon caesar salad last night was really craving the lettuce so my body is clearly ready to move to something more healthy. Today for lunch Im having a go at smoked salmon hash browns with poached egg a la James Martin not exactly healthy but cracking on with a new to me recipe and using up the salmon which i dont like to leave in the freezer too long.

Have a couple of lovely invites for tonight so will decide soon which to take or whether to opt for a quiet one to finish off my grotty year. Probably will take up my friends offer as there will be no chance of sleep tonight anytime before 1ish....oh to live in a field somewhere :D need to take lots of my cheese and bacon jackets which always disappear fast and a pavlova which I know she loves.

In the meantime I need to continue the clean up as normal ( I dont have any superstitions about cleaning and New Year Im glad to say) Not a huge amount to do but keen to start on some cupboard decluttering after getting a charity bag for Weds pick up. Of course I need to get round to Simon Rimmers first for Sunday Brunch ...:D

Anyway to those of you that keep New Year have a lovely evening and to those that dont hope you have a nice peaceful one whatever you are planning. Heres to 2018 being a better one for everyone :A

 Can I jump in please?

As far as I am concerned I will be so glad to see the back of 2017 it's bought me very little but stress and dollops of rage! Both my girls are now single parents struggling on benefit (the smalls are very small) and one DD is currently pregnant too. I'm so glad they were brought up to be frugal otherwise things could be much worse. It's not good for me to be so angry but there is very little you can do to change how you feel about your kids is there?

I was blissfully unaware that there was a tradition of cleaning new year's eve...can't see that happening! It's the OH's birthday, DD2 is doing him cake and sandwiches at lunchtime, he's asked for sausage casserole for tea. I didn't have sausages, but I've minced some pork we had and made him sausage flavour meatballs. Will put it all together later.

I've got next week off work, but a list as long as yer arm of things I want to sort out, and also need to take DD for an hospital apt, which is an hour's drive away in 'big town's so I can do a massive stock check before I go, and hopefully after all the DDs come out of bank on the first there will be some funds left to replenish the Armageddon cupboard!!

Sorry to read of folks poorly parents, and early wakings! I have that here too, one of my dogs has dementia, I suspect it might be catching!
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread silver oldie, sorry to hear about your mum nmlc.
Hugs and get well wishes to those in need.

We've sold our old engine hopefully so that a bit of money towards the bill for the new one.

Today we are visiting DD1 and taking Christmas presents over, her husband also has divorced parents and so it's a while before we get our turn to go over there. My ex and DD1's MIL are both very demanding, I'm happy to take a back seat as is her FIL, just to make things less stressful.

DD1 emailed me a photo yesterday of the rescue dog they are hoping to adopt.

We won't stay up to see the New Year in, we never do.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning All,

Sorry to hear about your mom NLMC, hope the hospital can give you more news today.
Today I am not going anywhere did the shopping yesterday. Will pop a wash load on.
I will put on a small buffet . That will be my food preparations for today, and whatever is left I will snack on tomorrow.
I do stay up to see in the New Year. I like watching 'Jools Holland-Hootenanny.
I must say I am not looking forward to 2018. With my mom being diagnosed with Vascular dementia - my world has changed . I never thought my mom would be ending her days in a nursing home. In 2018 I shall have to put her house up for sale to cover her Nursing Home costs.
What I have learnt this year is possessions mean nothing - when we go you cannot take your possessions with you .
In 2018 I shall be decluttering and only buying what I need.
My mom has declined so much in the last 14 months . Who knows what 2018 will hold. One thing I know is that she is the best mom I could have had - the dementia means I am losing her before she dies .
Make sure the people who mean something to you know you love them .

Wishing you all a Happy New Year for 2018.

  • Hugs to all those who have poorly relatives its such an emotional time of the year as well. I still haven't decided what I'm doing tonight I am in the middle of a major decluttering at the moment so that's taking up my time ,plus with this cold bug I really don't want to pass it on to the family.
I hope you all have a peaceful and healthy New Year and all your worries and sorrows be small ones

    Love to everyone

NMLC I hope the news from.the hospital is better
FOB thinking of you and your family
I love comps my MIL was diagnosed with vascular/Alzheimer's mix earlier this year
She has been living with us since DIL passed away in November 16. Sadly we think he was hiding her condition from.everyone so her consultant believes she may been show I g signs 2 years earlier. She is going to see New Year in with BIL and his family as DH is taking me for a rare night out on our own. The sale of her house is due to go through shortly and that will need to pay for her care.

Jackie/TA and others I hope you feel better soon

I have to admit I will be glad to say goodbye to 2017 but hope that 2018 will be happier and healthier for all of us
Thank you all for always being here it is lovely to see the care and love shown on
This thread and I wish each and everyone a very Happy New Year 2018

    Morning all

NLMC sorry to hear about your mum, I hope she soon improves.

FBO thinking of you and yours.

TA sorry you are still poorly and Mr TA too.

Another very bad night for me. A 4am start again, it seems to happen nightly now and on days off I can cope even though it renders me useless, but on days I have to work, it is awful.

I have no plans for today or tonight and I'm still in my dressing gown so won't be doing anything or going anywhere any time soon.

I hope you all have a nice evening whatever you are up to and thank you all for being there.

This thread is full of very kind caring people and I wish you all all the best for the new year :A x
