2018 - No Clutter To Be Seen

Hi All,
Been busy with RL in a good way but not much done. However I have been routinely taking the things I recycle at the allotment e.g. coffee grounds and cardboard loo rolls so the clutter isn't building up as it used to.
I also took a huge cardboard tube from a roll of flooring which I am going to store my bamboos stakes in.
A big bonus tomorrow, and I am as excited about this as I am about Christmas, e.g. very; will be my sister taking a shed load of cardboard boxes. We have been saving these for her for a year for her to move with. They will either go with her or in the car to be recycled. This gives me shed space to store a load of stuff I want out of the house. The shed in question will eventually become a work room for me to do my craft stuff in but right now we need some room in the house.
It is often things like this that cause a big clearout.
In other news; DH has sold some tyres, an old mobile, a computer and a spare TV in the last month. Not only is the space welcome, so is the cash.
Finally, as well as my house I have been helping MiL prepare for a party she is organising for my FiL's 80th. This has been an opportunity to declutter. Neither of them have ever been good at housework and the place is full of paper clutter, books, cd's etc. Over winter I will spend some of the time I spend on the allotment doing a proper clearout. FiL health is getting poorer and I want to be able to move him downstairs easily if necessary.

This is a great idea and I might aim for 1000 items as already halfway through the year.
First item thrown out a worn out pair of shoes re-heeled and re-soles many times!!
Think I will keep a tally chart on my calendar rather than itemise every item!Grocery Challenge Jul £380.75 Aug £637 Sep £539.82 Oct £53.43 / £475

3 bags today - total is 8, but I forgot to record a couple which spent too long in transit.
1 bag, summer stuff which looks too small as I've put on weight since last year. With luck, that will go down again, but I am not holding on to things that are only worn in hot weather anyway (we've probably almost had that for this year) Also, a jeans jacket, which is nice, but a bit short, and would look better on a shorter woman. It seems to display my widest area too well.
2nd bag stuff like box of paper CD cover slips. I've got rid of nearly all my CDs and never make them any more. Stationery bits and bobs that I won't use.
3rd bag pages used up out of notebooks, ripped out for paper recycling. This includes notes from my language-learning exploits, and anything else without personal information on. I like the feel of revived notebooks. I've kept for now some of the stuff I don't actually understand, but will make a point of learning it and disposing. I have the textbooks on my Kindle, so there is no clutter there.
Current aim, picked up from someone's Youtube - follow through on actions. I have a terrible tendency to let bags hang around until the hall is clogged up, or don't even bag stuff because I have so many.
Second aim - to get rid of family members' junk that's hanging around. I've asked them whether they want it, and they usually don't even remember having it, or flat-out deny they left it. Just small things, like partly used toiletries and cosmetics that don't suit me, holey socks (from multiple nephews' enormous stockpile of same) and manky teeshirts also from them.
Have a good weekend everyone.0 -

I sympathise Mollilie. I have clutter from loads of people, including a washing machine and fridge. In fairness I have said I will sort them, use them, store them. But there are so many things I am just quietly getting rid if they don't wan thtem back.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Thanks bitbybit, I don't really ask them about wanting things back when they are things like old socks, but it still seems to take me a longish time to get rid of them. None of them managed to offload large appliances with me, although their parents have had the odd large item stored until they acquired an appropriate home.0

Fab news. The cardboard boxes are gone. My sister didn't take them all so we had a lovely bonfire for the rest. In the shed are several boxes of books and other stuff. Yesterday I gave FiL a bag of books and a bag of pottery mugs to dispose of.
I have another few bags of books for him but don't want ot overwhelm him.
Also gone today will be a pile of strash for the tip, a van full of stuff for the allotment and on saturday and old bike to Bike Back, for them to fix or recycle.
As usual with me, activity comes from just one thing happening; In this case the boxes going. Now I can box up fabric and craft stuff to go into the shed which is going to be used as a store but eventually a work room. It will all be in those clear Really Useful boxes. I don't need to buy any as I have a load from when I had a business.
In clearing spaces in the house I can then prepare for the building work that is going to be done, I hope, in August.
So an avalanche has begun and I am lovin' it.
Bag total now 29/52 but so much more stuff has gone than that. :TWife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. My house is such a tip at the moment-I am so disappointed/
I spent a total of 2.5 hours deep-cleaning my kitchen today (the floor alone needed 2 washes, and the water was still returning black-I have now banned shoes in the kitchen )
In between this I was putting on,and hanging out, loads of washing. Now they are a mess of clothes in the front room.Got about 20,0056 socks to pair up .
Haven't done any specific decluttering of the house today, but just a couple of items out over the last few days:
Out of the house:
1062:rusted baking tray
Out of the loft:
66:baby's cloth book (Rosie and Jim). Not sure where it came from, but it is about 16 years old :rotfl:
I am missing spending whole days purely decluttering my house.Would love to get my teeth into a big project.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
