Villagelife: you have my sympathy. Little and often is the way to do things and take some pain killers before you get moving, less likely to injure yourself. My back has been a wreck for 30 years but I manage by paciing and being mindful of what my body is doing as I go about my life.
I see everyone has been busy and productive.
Today I sorted a shelf full of craft books, some I have never looked at and are brand new, shame. I am going to sell though amazon but if not gone within a month of listing then they will go to the CS. I am in need of the cash as the building works go on.
Also today, I am to finish off sorting the food that we saved from the freezer. I am going to be making a carrot and courgette soup (Courgettes from teh allotment last year, and carrots this year.
There are tubs of defrosted apples and fresh plums and blackberries from the allotments so it is time for more cumble making this afternoon. I am very happy with the progress with the food as we have managed to not spend very much over the last few weeks while running down the freezer.
We are putting the freezer in the garage today and then we can restart filling it with the soups and crumbles. We need a bit of disciopline about what we do with the food so we don't end up with the situation where we have now, where we have food frozen last year and not used.
Right, off to the allotment to work before the weather changes, I want to start digging another block ready for winter and cover up waht I dug last week to keep the weeds down.Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. Just starting on my decluttering journey:o This week I've got rid of 2 black bags of paperwork, and a bag of gubbins out of my kitchen cupboards. There were about 10 out of date cake mixes :rotfl: Am aiming to attack the bookshelves this weekend "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

This made me laugh because yesterday I pointed out a bird to a young lady after I said we need to remove these gubbins pointing to something else - later she tweeted about the bird she had seen (a cormorant) and called it a gubbin :rotfl: I'm glad someone else says gubbins and knows what it meansDMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Well done, Happy Kitties, and I agree with you about Mr SD, the SD family altogether, really, their light days are more than my busy ones.
Candygirl, your cake-mix buying habit sounds like my nail varnish one, I rarely wear it, but seem to have an urge to buy more whenever I see it.
Bit by bit and Village Life, you're doing brilliantly to keep on with back problems. It's like anything else in the end, we can only work at our own pace. It does help mood to feel some things have been cleared.
Marm.rules - I think getting rid of the bookshelves will be great, it's the final part of that area of decluttering. It's my plan for this month, as even though a lot of books have gone, other things have leapt on to my shelves for a little rest.0 -

I know,marmiterules-it is these "collections" that used to make up the bulk of the mess in my kids bedrooms when they were little. It didn't matter what storage solutions I used to buy, all these bitty bits used to make the place look dreadful. At least the novelty erasers were contained within a couple of IKEA boxes. Even so,it is alot of visual clutter, which I hate. And have lots of in this house.

2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I WENT IN - WITHOUT HIDING THE CLUTTER EXCEPT for the wardrobe room which is currently the storage room (sr)
3. THE LAST WASHING UP OF THE DAY WILL BE PUT AWAY BEFORE I GO TO BED
bit by bit, I had a vision of you swimming in a sea of books & clothes :rotfl: You have been busy & congratulations on your volunteering job. Good luck with the sale of the craft books & well done on your freezer decluttering. I love crumbles
marmiterules, that is a lot of books & getting rid of three bookcases - you won’t know what to do with all that space :rotfl:
somerandom, congrats on getting all the bags out of the house :T - re the 2 bits you retrieved better to keep them rather than regret giving them awayIt definitely bodes well for the future :T:T - if I am tempted to buy something my thought process now is ‘Do I need it & where will I put it?’
villagelife, sorry about your back & glad it is improving& I note that you are not letting it stop you on your decluttering journey :T
Molillie, I love “it is the keeping on keeping on that counts” :T for that :T. Please do not underestimate the benefits of tackling paperwork - it counts as a major decluttering project. l am not sure I would be able to concentrate either as I lurve watching professionals at workI laughed out loud re the book shelves - visions of ornaments, glasses, tv remotes etc whizzing round the room in search of a place to rest & ending up on the empty bookshelf :rotfl:
candygirl, what a great start on your decluttering journey :T. I haven’t heard/read the word gubbins in years :rotfl:
Happy Kitties, congrats on your progress. My DH takes a while to get started but then he is bit like the energiser bunny :rotfl:
The following is Friday’s activity report
DH cut the coving/beading to size for the edging round the shed floor - he will glue it in place tomorrow. He also continued on his quest to tidy his office :rotfl:
My ‘project’ today was to write & address birthday cards (from my stock) for November, December & January :rotfl: I have 4 special cards to buy & write - then I can start planning re XMas cards :rotfl: Dinner for DH & DSis was lo mash, lo sausages, baked beans & a newly cooked Yorkshire pudding which turned out really well :T I had grilled cheese on toast - it was delicious with a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
Re my three mantras: aired & made bed; washed up as & when; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl; general tidying

Morning All.
Decluttering of the general untidiness that has built up during the working week needed today, but hopefully find some bits that can leave the house forever while I'm at it! I have endless shoes and school/sports bags living on the hall floor, coats and hoodies hanging on the bannister, and a laundry basket that looks like the never-ending porridge pot (anyone remember that Ladybird children's book?). The pile of paperwork in the kitchen was successfully reduced a bit last weekend, but it has bred again. Also waiting for delivery of new electric shower today, ours gave up earlier in the week after many years loyal service decluttering grime, so it's been baths all round until plumber comes next week to fit. Anyway, having a cuppa then will get started on the chaos!
Have a good day everyone, you can do it!
