Sorry not to have been in recently. I have been busy though.
2 more bags of books out to different charity shops going on what they sell normally.
DD also sorted out all her clothes and has a bin liner to go. We bought 5 items of clothing yesterday to fill in some gaps in her collection. I am very proud of her. I have always encouraged her not to hang onto stuff and it has worked. I don't want her to end up like me, drowning under loads of stuff.
We have cleared out our large chest freezer and all the food has either been binned or is to be made into soups, quiches and pies tomrrow. Lots of fruit fresh and frozen to be sorted.
I also started work at my local Cancer Research charity shop today. I have laways wanted to to do it but life got in the way. Well I have more time now and applied on impulse when I saw an advert wanting volunteers last week.
As nearly all CS volunteers do I have started on sorting, What an excellent job for a nosey person like me. I was a bit worried as I don't like throwing away stuff necessarily, but luckily they have moved on from throwing books in the skip that they did years ago. I used to skip dive and send some one their way through bookcrossing. Anyway, that was a long time ago. They have a system in place to recycle clothing, books, electricals and other stuff. It was not hard at all although I still chucked three bags worth of rubbish. I did buy some tops and a gilet. I have been wanting one for ages but couldn't find the right one for me.
I am only allowed to bring stuff home that has an immediate use, is to be worn very soon or to be passed on or gifted within the next week. I think this is a good plan knowing my hoarding tendencies
The building work had been coming on but the house is covered in dust. marmiterules :T impressive decluttering :T
Saver-upper, you are on a roll :T
The following is Thursday’s activity report or lack thereof :rotfl:
DH took DSis to hospital on the motorbike for her cardiology appointment. They had a full English breakfast afterwards - incongruous I know :rotfl: Heavy traffic & lots of roadworks so we’re actually out for 4 hours  DH had a coffee then rode to sm for a top up shop & to get DSis her lacto free skimmed milk which I was unable to get (out of stock at MrA)
For me it was a lazy day - trip to CS which was closed yet againbut I did manage to find somewhere safe to leave my donation bags
then went to sm which was busier than I would have liked
Bus home & put away shopping then eventually cooked dinner - apart from catching up on TV programmes - that was the sum total of my day
Re my three mantras: aired & made bed; washed up as & when; worktops washed down; filled sugar bowl & jar; general tidying
The day to day decluttering generated
C554 - C562 Non recyclable - plastic bag, 6 lots of plastic packaging, 2 plastic trays & packaging - Binned
C563 - C565 Tin can, milk carton, glass bottle - Rinsed & recycled
C566 - C571 Magazine read, leaflets, egg carton, 3 lots of cardboard packaging - Recycled
Hopefully a more productive day tomorrow
May your decluttering mojo continue to be strong :rotfl:

Out of curiosity I counted the books and dvds left to give away this weekend:
130 books plus one bag of books I can't be bothered counting (about 30?)
15 dvds.
Hopefully afterwards I can get rid of the three bookcases freed up.That's the plan anyway.
Mrs Salad Dodger a lazy day is nice from time to time.0 -
Really enjoying reading everyone's inspiring posts. Thanks @MrsSaladDodger for the tips
So:
The 6 bags of stuff for the Charity Shop have now been dropped off: Beforehand I went through the stuff with the friend who gave me a lift and she took some of the items. Unfortunately there were 2 items that I changed my mind about and kept - so my overall total has gone down to 105
On the plus side - I left the charity shop without buying anything (Charity Shops are my weakness) ! To add to that I visited the brand new TK Maxx in my High St and in spite of the first day buzz in there - I walked out empty handed. So at least that bodes well for the future.... (doesn't it??? ) . :rotfl:Shifting my energy for 20200 -
somerandom well done on both counts!0

Life has been busy and my back pain as been bad but slowly improving.
I have been doing small amounts o decluttering and have been leaving each room tidier than when I left it.
1064 a candle pot
1065-1068 4 pairs of 3D glasses. We don't go to see 3D films as DH had no 3D vision.
1069-1070 2 boxes recycled
1071 a shoe lace thrown away
1072 a shampoo sample used up and binned
1073-1075 plant catalogues thrown
1076 pile of paperwork shredded
Hopefully will be back with more but taking things easy with my back.0 -
Good to see everyone's progress, it's the keeping on keeping on that counts in the end.
Decluttered Garden:
The tree surgeon has been working hard. Found it a bit difficult to let the apple tree go, but it isn't well-sited, and, as I keep telling myself, this isn't going to be my garden in about two years. Have a load of apples from the top branches to cook later on. No regrets about the two sycamores and the conifer (fortunately just one of those) and the many shrubs. I've re-arranged as much as possible to be at home and provide drinks and biscuits at frequent intervals. The brambles behind the shed are going once his friend comes with the right thing to cut them. Next week, they are taking down and removing the shed, and most contents, and replacing a couple of fence panels, then moving on to rotavating, levelling, and turfing.
Meanwhile, I am sorting paperwork and working out what can be thrown out. Then hand-shredding confidential stuff (i.e. ripping up into small pieces) not too much of that, luckily. Had a brief panic about the BA security breach, but was just outside the dates given on the news. Apparently, all those possibly affected should have been informed by now.
Have also sorted some books for charity shops, but don't seem really able to concentrate with the activity in the garden.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.0
