The majority of our parents are lovely, but there are possibly 5-10% that are difficult - abusive, defensive and just not pleasant. Often as a result of listening to their childrens perception of an incident rather than accepting that their angel may have actually done something they shouldn't have

  • My daughter is often 'caught up' in incidents and I am the first parent to say that my daughter is not an angel - the school she is at now find it quite refreshing although too be honest my daughter will recount each incident second by second whether she is in the right or the wrong so I know exactly what has happened before the school have even thought about it.

Unfortunately she is hot headed and the school she is at now have a lot of snowflakes - they are happy to dish it out but cant take it back and then their parents complain!!!

We were convinced it was a full moon yesterday at work the way some people acted. I too had an utterly venomous "customer". The previous notes were incredible she was vile to everyone she spoke to and utterly unreasonable and spiteful. Clearly more to it and a very unhappy and possibly "unwell" lady. Stuck on my "Disney thick skin" (at least those customers left and got on a plane ;)) but it isn't nice. All you can do is be thankful you aren't them and put them out of your head.

When I worked in education the selective memory of high schoolers used to make me chuckle. They genuinely feel they were in the right and when you got to the bottom of it find they'd completely blocked the relevant bit that changed the whole scenario. :D
Made it through two days at school so far this week, ds is coping well so far. 2 more to go for him but the exams that are left are the ones he struggles with the most. Hopefully he'll manage :o

I had a meeting today with a parent who was possibly the most unpleasant person I've ever had the misfortune to meet. She literally spits venom with everything that comes out of her mouth. I almost pity her as she is so thoroughly nasty, but its one of those that keeps playing on my mind and I can't switch off from it :(

Bath is done, pj's on, dinner is almost ready then it's an evening of chilling and maybe some online Christmas shopping as time is running out and I'm just not feeling it whatsoever :o

  • I never believe my kids lol! Also I have been on the receiving end of my smallest boys tempers too often. He is a violent one, throws, kicks, hits, headbuts.the school films him in year R (with my permission) to show us and as evidence as they were trying to get him into a behaviour unit.

He is getting better, but I always feel such guilt when I have one of the seeming endless meetings at the school!

Now if I had to have a meeting due to the girls behaviour I may be a little different. She is year 10 and never given me a days worry at school.

My last Christmas event os done for this year - it was at a primary school Christmas Fair, the first one they'd done and it was tiny. I did take £25 and signed up 3 more people for my Customer Club, hopefully they may take advantage of the free delivery this month on all orders.

Home now, waiting for the heating to kick in, it's cold and miserable out there, so I have an afternoon of snuggling on the sofa with a blanket and watching the footie planned, very much needed right now :D:D

I may got food shopping later on and I do need to do some housework at some point. Tomorrow needs to be a bit of Xmas shopping as i have barely done any yet :o

So tonight I was very very naughty and have booked another cruise  I have been desperate to do this ever since we got off the boat in the summer, I have never been one for holidays but wow have I got the bug now :o

So, we're going for 14 days to Madeira and the Canaries and I cannot wait!! It's not for another 18 months so I have lots of waiting to do, but this also gives me time to save up to pay for it :o We aren't going away anywhere next summer, so while this is hugely indulgant I also know that mentally it keeps me going, having something to look forward to, so is also an investment in my mental health. It should also hopefully help me get my mojo back to start doing some surveys / swagbucks etc again as I have lost my way recently with all that. I can't wait to hit the holidays and be able to focus on planning it all and sorting the finances again :D

It was a lot of money, £3700 for 2 of us, and with the tops etc added in it will come to £4k in total. Now that is a huge amount of money for a holiday, but it does include absolutely everything - it's all inclusive food, drink and entertainment. This boat has everything the last one had plus dodgems and indoor skydiving!

I really need to get selling a lot of cards now :rotfl::rotfl:

Skydiving! Wow! Yes I'm the same with travel, I see it as so important and I'd rather scrimp and save for something that's important than fritter it all away. Good luck with increasing your income!

Been thinking about the cruise all day today and have come up with a good way of figuring it out in my head ...

So the ex pays me £480 a month in maintenance, this is due to stop in August, so 8 more payments = 8 x £480 = £3840. So, as I need to get used to living without these payments I reckon I just squirrel away the payments and it will cover the holiday, and I reckon that's a nice reward for 16 years of parenting by myself! :D:D

I do still have my brothers fund to sort, the plan was always to get to £20k by August and then I will re-assess. He has always said he's happy to wait for the other £10k until something happens to Mum and her property is sold. Morbid thought I know, but that's been the plan.

So that would mean I need to find roughly £4,500 to get his fund up to £20k. I reckon I can manage that ;):D

    All sounding good.
    Good idea on maintenence.
It is a real hit when you loose that & the tax credits.
