sashanut - how sad, I've been there myself and know how horrible it is.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

We have heat and hot water again thanks to the very efficient service from our insurance company and the plumbing company that they sent. However it is only a temporary fix as the part isn't covered as part of the breakdown plus the boiler is old now. We are getting a quote today and will get another couple of quotes for a replacement. I'm not looking forward to spending the money but it is part of home ownership I suppose.
No money spent yesterday apart from posting ebay parcels but that was paid by the buyer. Dropped a large bag of clothes and games at the charity shop along with a bag of things for them to sell for rag.
Today I plan to cycle, get a quote for the boiler, go to the library as I've nearly finished reading Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol which I borrowed from DD, return DD's toothbrush to Argos and get a replacement as it won't stay charged and we haven't had it a year yet, walk the dog and try to buy a tea strainer - againDebt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Got a doctors appt to sort out my eye infection.Turns out it's shingles. Put myself in solitary confinment for a while.
As apple says please be careful with shingles on/near your eye - my husband had shingles around his eye that we didn't know about and it spread into his eye and then into his head via the nerves and he now has neuro issues which are a flaming nightmare.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
sashanut so sorry for your loss. It is just utterly heartbreaking when a much loved pet passes away.
I hope you can all take some time to remember your cat fondly.0 -
Thanks everyone for your condolences, DH and I have been in shock all week, it still doesn't seem real.
Have managed some NSD's on Thursday and yesterday taking me up to 7.
Not sure if today will be a NSD or not as got to make a start on clearing f-I-l's flat and may need to buy bin bags and storage boxes.
Hope you all have a good weekend.0 -
Hi all turtles
Just to say our beautiful cat was killed outside on our very quiet road at 1pm today. (
That is so sad to read.
I had to take our much loved rescue pet for his final trip to the vet yesterday. He had been part of our lives for 12 years - DDs had grown up with him - and had given us much joy.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Sorry for your loss, sashanut. ETA: and IgamOgam
Reporting in late for yesterday which was a bit of a non-event, as I was only out of bed less than 8 hours - and spent all of those lying on the sofa. I think I have the flu - came on suddenly and strong - even my hands ache (alternating with feeling weird, as though pins and needles are about to start) Have only been up about half an hour now - but OH and DS1 are out, so I need to be up with smalls. I really must have a shower - I have sweated so much the past 2 nights (tmi!!) but the thought of undressing, getting wet and dealing with wet (& very knotty hair) and re-dressing is just too hard!!:o
Because of flu, yesterday's plans for baking, Sains shop & some decorating in BTL went totally out of window - just walking downstairs exhausted me!:o OH popped to Tesc0 (closest shop) and got milk and some YS bakery goodies (he's terrible if he sees reduced doughnuts!) instead.
Janus a time to look forwards - where do you want to be in 12 months from now? 12 months: debt free (exc BTL mtge - but target of 4K ops) A decent no of jobs completed from our 'to do' list for the house (some are small, some are big/ long term/ expensive) Fitter. Hopefully with 2 children at uni. Pensions sorted.
Today's actions towards this - nothing
Activity. This is a BOGOF one. Take up a new hobby or resurrect an old one. ALSO, be active. Keep moving. Today: -nothing - think my step count was less than 1000 yesterday!
Non-negotiables
-18 NSDs (if not, why not?) (not fussed if I don't achieve this as long as budgets aren't blown) 5/18. Got another as only milk and YS purchased

-meal plan - I don't do this. OH hates meal planning. However, I am targeting stuff which needs using up first, even if only for me. Gaps appearing in freezer and on shelves.
Always plan your meals; always take a shopping list; always take your lunch to work and drink + snacks when out and about; avoid all coffee shops, vending machines, work canteens... -ok

So sorry Sashanut. When my last pup got to the end of her life, it was sad but not unexpected. I can’t imagine how I’d have felt if she was so suddenly taken from me this way.
My laptop is having issues so my posts might be few and far between, but I am still in the game. (I’m thankful for my smartphone and xbox so I can still get connected to the internet!)
I may need to buy a new laptop, but will take it to the shop to see if its recoverable first. It won’t load up so there’s a problem somewhere, not sure if its hardware or software yet.
Since my old laptop died I’ve gotten into the habit of a weekly backup, so only lost my budget updates since Sunday.
Had a PT session & a short run today. Also a NSDDebt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!
