What did you do with your new found motivation?

I thought of you as despite swearing off any gym memberships a new one is opening for just £15 a month. At that price I will check it out. You never know I might end up a regular exerciser like you, especially as I am about to be able to organise my own time :)

  • Hey DIA :)
New found motivation . Well , I've decided to stop procrastinating once and for all and sort out the flat and my head once and for all also.
I finally started to scan and shred ' stuff' weds and yesterday .
    I've been doing 4 hrs a day so far . It's a start . There's a mountain of it . I'm going to do the same every day until it's done .

As for the gym , It seems that you are at last getting the routine you desire DIA, and if you could afford and commit to it , I think it's a must. I was too accommodating and working many hours of overtime and all that did was ruin my life and body . Commitment to something that' you enjoy will be one of the best things you can do. Go for it:)

Well done on the scan and shred schedule.

I don't know if this gym will be the one but what I do know is an exercise plan will be essential. You are right to devote time to getting healthy. I want to do the same.

I hope you have a chance to get out and about as it is set to be good weather this weekend :)

    I am indeed Harz :)
I'm still plodding away . Some progress , but not huge amounts .

On the health side, it's a mixed bag . I have stopped taking bread for 2 weeks . However , I have been back on crisps for a few weeks .
No more now . None in the cupboard . I need to knuckle down and be more sensible . The sessions with mr trainer are still going well.
Today ,he meant business and got me doing more challenging things .
Similar to last year except no shuttle runs . My legs are still bad .

On Friday afternoon , my local friend suggested walking down to Poole quay and having a few ciders . Nothing wrong with that in theory. It was another hot day . My friend noticed I sounded a bit breathless and asked if I wanted to rest on the way . Nice of him to suggest , but I declined and carried on . Maybe it was the fact that I only had a bowl of porridge before netting him at lunchtime .
Maybe it was the fact that I need to attend the gym more often .

Yes , as mentioned above my legs are bad getting up from the chair , or if I'm sitting by my computer or answering the intercom . Even when getting out of bed etc.
I am still on sick leave until sept from universal credit , so I'll focus on doing more exercise . I'm still walking way too slowly . It's part of my condition ( motor neurone ) so there's not much else I can do.
I won't be fit for work for some time , but I'll just try and improve things . I have to realise the positive result of stopping the prednisolone since Easter . It could well be the pain is more now because I have stopped it and my body needs a good year for it to get out of my system for good . No way do I want to get back on that
I was listening to Michael j Fox's audio book about him and his battle against Parkinson's disease. Something he has has since he was 30 iirc. Nobody gets a free ride . Unless you're david beckham ..

Regarding my flat . Neighbours surprisingly quiet over last 2 weeks .
Summer holidays here soon ,so I'll say nothing more for now.
I have put all of my stuff to be scanned into a large crate and will push on with that tomorrow for a few hours ,and pickup the pace there .
I have eventually made a decision about what to do regarding guests crashing over and the furniture etc .
Looking at the bigger picture overall , I am keeping my 2 leather sofas. I think one can be reupholstered and I'm looking at a place where someone can come over and sort it out for a couple of hundred pounds approx . Money saved in the long run. However, I decided to get a fold up chair from made ( haru) which turns into a single bed .
This solution makes sense imho ,as it keeps my flat homely and not a blatant single person flat if that makes sense . The chair from made won't be here it'll mid August though . I can sell the aero bed I got when that arrives .

I left a text with james last Tuesday about the kitchen extractor .
No response yet , but he could be on holiday . I'll give him another week .

I stopped using premium Dropbox . Was £7.99 now £10 . I don't need that much space anymore . Once I got all of my CDs onto my hard drive and Mac , I may use once to share with friends .

I'm considering stopping Netflix for a while . TBH I don't watch it enough . I may just do a month here and there . I get fed up with the over hype of actors and celebs at the best of times .

I made a mistake on amazon music player . I thought I subscribed by mistake for just one month and had a text conversation to cancel .However for some reason it was longer than that ,and I got a refund of £50 . :j

    That'll do for now .

    Have a good week:)

Good to see you back AC!

£200 sounds on the low side for getting your sofa upholstered. Would you get fabric or leather? Might be doable if you choose a cheap cotton though. I bought ready made covers for our old Ikea sofa, from a company that specialise in covers for Ikea furniture (Bemz) and I got them heavily reduced in the Black Friday sales, yet they were still about £130, for the 2nd to cheapest cotton fabric. And that's ready made, which is a lot cheaper than having it reupholstered.

I bet the quay was busy! Lovely to have it so near though, and there are plenty of watering holes to sit and enjoy a nice cold glass of something, while watching the boats..

We're not far from the sea here, but the water is brown! My husband still can't believe how blue the water is down your way! We also don't see many boats here, although Porthcawl does have a small marina. I always love watching all the boats down at Swanage.

    Thanks gigervamp :)

I looked at a few places regarding reupholstering a couple of months ago. I've been holding off for a while but may send an email .
No rush . TBH , what's needed is for the padding to be replaced as it has been deflated over the years . The rest is fine . The sagging is visible and getting more uncomfortable . Then again the sofas are 22 years old :rotfl:

I received a text from universal credit yesterday . They will be sending me a questionnaire to fill in . Initially my appointment is at the job centre in sept . That appointment is to provide further evidence .
I believe that I send all of my medical background with the questionnaire . A tad confusing . I'll just do as instructed and see what gives . There is a link to videos of what to expect when I do go for my assessment . Just watched those . I just photocopied all of my history , and have it to hand . I'm expecting a letter regarding my recent visit to mr specialist in London . It'll be interesting to see his comments .
    Now back to scanning ..
  • Humid night . Slept like a baby ..until 3.30 this morning . Not complaining though, as that was around the time the timer on my dyson switched off .

Just received 2 envelopes in the post . One from mr specialist at st Thomas 's hsp and the universal credit capability for work questionnaire . Not sure if the letter from mr specialist will help .
He says that I'm not fit for work for at least another 6 months listing the reasons why . We'll see . Anyway , off to the gym ..
    Have a good day :)

    Howdy!

Strange few days . Last fri I had to do a standing order for mr trainer. He has not increased my rates, but has for everyone else apparently
I kept my balance while in nationwide ,and all was done . However the lady in nationwide informed me that I am now eligible for a credit card and it seems that my credit rating has improved at last after my dmp settlement 2 years ago . Nice to know, but I have the power of vanquis card which I settle each month .

While I went to Poole last Friday , I decided to go by train . I had the adrenaline and managed the stairs both at parkstone and Poole . I had to hang onto the rails at Poole station tho.

Today , I finally completed the capability for work questionnaire .
Not finished yet though , as I have to put my name and NI no on all of the documents I am sending . Not only that. I have to stick the 'Freepost' letter onto a bigger envelope and pay to send it .
Typical gvt . I will get proof of postage though .
Looking at the 'direct ' questioning on there the form is very 'black and white ' . Like awkward people , there is no real grey area .
Right or wrong , I mentioned briefly my final written warning suspended for 2 years in my last place of employment . In a nutshell , when I was asked to cancel an important hsp appointment I basically exploded . I was very ill and new to the medication etc.
Having to see the company doctor and trying not to get sacked plus the other stuff was like being the best juggling act in Covent Garden .
I did also mention my last attempt at working in the post office in 2017 which was a disaster .
It'll be interesting how the assessment works out .

For some reason the whole house has been quiet for the last 3 weeks.
Having said that , the school holidays are here . Next week?

My kitchen now is the tidiest it has been for a long time . I managed to get rid of the clutter. Living room fine . Bathroom fine . Just need to sort the rest out .
Need to get a couple of cheap mirrors from wilko .
Once I paint the hallway , that will be more or less everything till next year . Getting the strength and stamina to do it is the next step.

Mr trainer has been impressed still. Last week he upped things and I got a bit of a session out of the comfort zone and he was happy.
I went last weds also . I intend to go tomorrow .
He said 5 stars . Not sure if he was talking about that dodgy soul band:D

James sent a text advising me that he was in Birmingham last week . Hopefully he'll sort out that extractor in the kitchen in the not too distant future ..
