Good luck with the universal credit and council tax applications. Thanks enthusiastic
I just received a text message from universal credit ,advising me to log into my account . It was a message " ok ac", acknowledging my previous input setting them straight . I replied thanking him for the acknowledgement , and said I'm looking forward to my appointment tomorrow . I am sooo ..professional0 -
Morning AC how are you? Coping ok with the pred reduction?
Now I hope you've got some more of those jobs you saved to apply for. Why not get a couple done today?
Good luck with your universal credit meeting tomorrow0 -
Hi moo:)
So far so good , on the prednisolone side of things . Today is another day of tidying up . What I will do later on today is apply for the saved jobs and go through the multiple emails . Of course it is better to list that in the journal as well .
Regarding the prednisolone , it seems that the worse side effects I had in reducing were back in August last year for about 6 weeks .
Since then it has been a steady reduction . I had bits mentioned here and there , but those side effects never lasted that long thankfully .
Myself and Mr trainer think that the weight is gradually coming off also. I believe it takes up to a year for it to come off once I quit the prednisolone . I still see the moonface as they call it , and puffiness but that is expected . We'll see ...0 -
Sounds like you're doing really well then AC. A male relative of mine who was always very slim struggled with the weight and particularly the puffiness in the face you describe when he was on pred for about 18 months. It seemed to fall off him when he stopped the pred. Keep on keeping on then :T0

AC - you are really doing well and cracking on with stuff (you put me to shame)!
Good luck with the job hunting.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Thanks Mrs. P
It's funny the way things go . When I made my mind up to do this, I gave myself 6 months . That was obviously too optimistic . It's just a case of me sticking to a routine I once had ,and hoping for the best .
Regarding the tidying , I think I may have made a mistake buying a sideboard when I moved in . I may not have done. It holds a few bits and bobs and looks great . However, with he layout I now have in the music room , I think maybe a long trestle type shelf extending from the computer desk may have been better. You can't get your legs under a sideboardI'm thinking of all angles still.
Got a call from the council tax office today . Nice lady . I'll have to give them more info , but once I've seen universal credit ,then universal credit should tell them what sort of "award " I've got.
There's me thinking the oscars were the other night . I've got a month to let them know , but I'll have that info to them next week or so once I've received letter etc.
I've decided to be more mse with my food . ( I think so anyway).
While mr trainer is telling me to avoid additives etc I may be doing something right . I've decided not to buy Marks and Sparks ultimate mash ,or McCain oven fries and am going to make them myself .
I have been looking on you tube , and it doesn't look hard at all.
Not sure how long it lasts once I put into fridge tho so advice welcome
I have some frozen chicken pieces in the freezer which I bought in January . Not sure if it's still safe , or dump . They weren't frozen when I bought them and could've been cooked the day I got them .
They could be foul ..0 -
Frozen food doesn't go off, however, the quality of it deteriorates after about 6 months. Your chicken will be perfectly fine.
To make mash, peel and halve/quarter (depending on size) some potatoes. Whites are good all-rounders. Put in a pan, cover with cold water, bring to the boil, stick the lid on, leaving a gap to let the steam escape, and turn the hob down to low-medium. Simmer until a sharp knife goes into a potato easily, usually about 15-20 minutes.
Drain, add butter (or marge if you must) and a splash of milk, and season with salt and pepper. Mash until there are no lumps.
You can make a big batch, and portion it out into containers from Poundland, and freeze. If you put some in the fridge, it will keep in the fridge for about 3 days or so.
Oven fries, peel (or leave skin on) and chop potatoes into chip shapes. Place on a baking tray and drizzle with oil. Mix them around in the oil, so they all get coated, add salt and pepper, and/or spices like paprika or chilli powder, and cook in a hot oven (around 200/220degrees for around 20-25 minutes.
You can make wedges the same way.
With your chicken pieces, you could make a tray bake. In a roasting tin, put your chicken pieces, some chopped up potatoes, sliced peppers, halved cherry tomatoes, a red onion sliced, and a clove of garlic, crushed or sliced.
Like you do with the chips, sprinkle with oil, seasoning, herbs and spices, and mix so it's all covered with the oil and dry ingredients. Some people also like to add some sliced chorizo too.
Cook in the oven at 180 for 30-40 minutes, until the juices from the chicken run clear.
Use the tray bake recipe as a guideline for coming up with your own concoctions, swapping out the chicken for sausages or chops, and/or changing the veg, herbs and spices.
Easy peasy! I loved cooking before I became disabled, so if you need any help, give me a shout.0 -
Thanks gigervamp
loads of good stuff there ..
One thing though ...I'm allergic to onions and garlicI'm basically plain and simple . Also a pita at times . Have thought about seeing food therapist but bottled out on various occasions .
I made oven chips this evening with skins on . All good .
I got a plastic chipper. That is really good
This weekend I can get cooking then . I was wondering how long cooked mince could be kept in the fridge . I have mostly cooked fresh but on occasion left pasta and mince in a Tupperware container and had the next morning.
I got a couple of plastic containers for orange juice ,which go inside the fridge door . Makes more room in fridge .
Suddenly I feel domesticated ..:)0 -
Gingervamp some great ideas there - please stop now though as you are making me hungry!!Debt free and Keeping on Track0
