We had that problem with some gift vouchers we were given as a wedding present. We didn't need anything for ages, so by the time we did (our old toaster gave up the ghost) they'd expired. Luckily they replaced them (this was House of Frazer), but I've heard of other stores not doing that.0

Well done on finding a cheap solution to your bed problem and enjoy spending your Beales voucher. Is there an expiry date on them? Why not keep them until you actually need to replace something?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Hello AC. Wow first anniversary of moving into your flat. How quickly that year went.
Well I've found my dream house, :j. Had my Offer accepted on Wednesday. Just three of us in the chain so hopefully, fingers crossed, it will all go smoothly.
Exciting times...
Enjoy spending your voucher at Beatles.0 -
Wow! Great news about the house LL:) Sounds like it’ll all go smoothly . Yes , a year already . I’m still tidying up bits but it’s taken me about a year to get everything sorted and organised. Rome wasn’t built in a day etc :rotfl:
I’ve been looking on a band website today, with the intention of joining somebody in the next few weeks . Just need to brush away the rust and cobwebs and jam for fun to start out with.
I’ve also been looking at possibly changing around my bass collection to cater for what’s needed. New ideas.
Back to the Mr instructor tomorrow . Not sure if we’re getting thunderstorms or not . It’ll probably be hot again though .0 -
Wahaaay with the band. Get you. :rotfl: And all the best. That would be perfect if you could get a few gigs and make a bit of money doing something you really enjoy.
Well it will take me at least a year to get straight too when I move, probably more like two. I'm not bothered though, there's no tearing hurry. It's liveable and will be comfortable enough so I can take my time.
I am aiming for this house to be my "forever home", next move will likely be to Gods Waiting Room.:rotfl: so the plan is to enjoy the process and not worry about racing to the finishing line.
It will be nice to have the luxury of time this time round. I can get it just how I want and if I take my time then the renovations will cost me less than if I had to rush.
Although you never know what you are likely to find and I don't want to speak too soon and tempt fate, it does seem that the big things have aready been done......a brand new boiler, expensive hard landscaping, a pretty good solid Wood handbuilt kitchen. (I shall paint that - a mammoth task but my labour is free so only the cost of materials). I will replace the bathroom, but as it is just replacing like for like sanitary ware and not having to move pipes or knock walls down etc it shouldn't be too expensive. My plumber always gives me a good deal.
I'm really looking forward to the move. It's taken me a long time to find this house, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully I should be in around September time before the weather closes in.
It ticks all the boxes. It even has room for my own mini gym and infrared sauna......wahoo.
The garden is good too. Theres a good shed suitable for a decent sized workshop and still room for a green house and a nice little summerhouse.
I'm made up......:rotfl:0 -
Oh, exciting with the band AC, but don't forget to job hunt as well .
Great news on the house LL. Em..... I slightly misread your post and thought you were distilling your own gin  :rotfl:lessonlearned wrote: »The garden is good too. Hi Gally;) The band thing will be interesting . Meeting new people etc
Living too much like a pensioner at the moment , but I’m more or less ready to do so. I’ll give my friend a gentle nudge to see if he can have my cv adjusted in the coming week .
As I’m getting used to the bedroom at long last, I do have one thing that is playing at the back of my mind . I’m probably over thinking
When james was here doing the various essential jobs for me last year , I never had room to swing a cat. I had james put a new wardrobe into the small boxroom which is the music room / home office . (Remember the gas room:))
Now , I think the wardrobe would’ve been better in the bedroom.
There is room now that I’ve settled . I have a nice unit in the bedroom at present . It holds my tv that I used in my previous bedroom
Thing now is , I haven’t watched any tv in my bedroom since I got used to everything .
What’s niggling at me is the flat would be complete if I could have swap , with the wardrobe going into the bedroom. I doubt if it could be moved or that it could be sold should I get another identical one
I’ll try not to think of it now. The good thing is that I’m used to the bedroom at last . No more falling pillows.
Your eventual new home sounds great LL.
That gin idea could be fun Gally;)0
