This morning I had a plan to get things moving in the right direction clutterwise . I started with a shower, breakfast etc I even put some washing in the washing machine . Then...
I have another boiler fault . Indicator flashing . Can't reset it .
So I called the emergency number in my boiler insurance plan
I am expecting an engineer to arrive sometime today .
It seems like maybe it's the end of the boiler after all .
I'm in a little catch 22 situation which could be costly either way:
The chap I spoke to me read out the terms and conditions which may mean I pay if the engineer doesn't think it's a big problem . Something like that , to do with callous fee. Or I may have to pay for a proper chemical flush etc and keep the boiler but that won't be cheap.
The only thing I can question the company is if the boiler is in such a bad state , then surely they shouldn't keep taking my monthly payments?
Just got a call . The engineer will be here between 2-6pm0 -

Be grateful they are still taking your monthly payments AC, at least you get to call someone out easily.
Someones pulling your chain at the phone centre though, clearly if the boiler has locked out and won't reset, it IS a big problem unless they want you to freeze to death...
And don't be taken in by paying for expensive chemical flushes and the like that a salesman either on the phone or "repairing" your boiler is trying to flog you. Better to see the winter out, keep calling out if needed, and then renew the boiler for future peace of mind.0 -
AC, what make/model boiler and what code is flashing up?0

AC, what make/model boiler and what code is flashing up?
Thanks harz:)
Its flashing beween 0.2 -0.3
I did the usual rest a few times, no go .
True what you say about me paying for a service . Last year I should have called the emergency no , but didn't think my policy covered it . I was way too polite and patient . Now that I know I am covered I will call that no more often if I need to .
The last emergency engineer who slagged the machine off, never gave me a quote for a new boiler when I gave him my details .
I think though that if I were to keep this boiler going , I may have to pay for chemical flush etc which I do know is not in my policy
Either that or keep getting them out , until they refuse .
The age of my boiler being a factor here also

Are you sure about that code, cos it doesn't appear on this list for the Flexicom reange, but if it's F3 points to an ignition fault.

Yes, it's a glow worm flexicom 30 Cx .
I would think that it doesn't appear as it's probably too old?
It does sound like an ignition fault tbh and hopefully nothing major . It tries desperately to work once I press the reset , but just cuts out .0 -
Emergency man has just been .
Not the greatest of news . A new Expansion vessel, and PRV needed plus a new filter . He fixed the pressure temporarily , but when I get more issues tonight / tomorrow I have to adjust the pressure valves whenever I get the problem again .
The company will contact me discussing his findings and hopefully they will let him do what is required at no cost to me .0 -
Sorry to hear of boiler issues. Is it okay now? When are you expecting the company to contact you with the next stage? If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
Emergency fund 100/1000
Buffer fund 0/100

Hi DIA .
Emergency guy came last night .
Not fixed yet . To get things going , I have to keep adjusting the boiler pressure for now . I'm awaiting call back from the boiler maintenance co . Faults : New Expansion Vessel needed/ New PRV needed, New filter needed .
Hopefully I'll get a call back from engineer and it can go ahead today ,or tomorrow at the latest .
I expect to pay for the filter which is probably not under boiler cover . In the meantime I emailed Glow Worm asking them the age etc and if it's best to keep it or not .
They do cover through homeserve and have dealings with valiant
I found this out on the phone . It reminded me when I spoke to homeserve and the cost was more than the company I'm using now. .
All this is a pita as I can't do the things in my flat I set out to do .0 -
Wow! I've been through a depressing week . Obviously .However , I'm aiming to bounce back and hopefully take control once again .
So, going back to the boiler situation : I waited in all day Monday to hear from Reactive the insurance company who cover my boiler.
I decided to phone them at 2pm last Monday . They contacted the emergency engineer . As it was the same fault as in October when the guy last serviced it (he told me it wasn't gonna last much longer after he serviced it in Oct and told me I'm better off having a new boiler ) Reactive told me it was no longer insured and that it would cost too much to service . Things like chemical flush which is not in the policy
So I queried why I was still paying a direct debit . That was stopped last week . Ok. One thing to note is that when I eventually get a new boiler , they would've paid me £250 towards a new one in a form of a cheque . However I'm told the call out fee will be deducted from that
My angle is take the money ( probably £50 knowing my luck ) and do a poor trust pilot review .
2 more things regarding the boiler : 1) I managed to get it working since Tuesday after multiple tap turning the pressure . Not ideal , but so far so good . 2) When I went to the work related programme last weds , they asked if there is anything in the home I have problems with. They are hoping to get me a boiler grant either part or fully funded. It doesn't look hopeful but I'm trying .
I tried online registering with free boiler grants .co.uk but heard nothing .
Went to job club on Tuesday . TBH there's not much point in being there as it seemed the work related person should guide me better when I'm properly on their programme . With the work related programme I've been twice : once to register , secondly to fill out loads about ny background etc. I'm supposed to go back on 29th Dec then once a month . As for the job club , it's jus a case of looking on indeed website really . Not sure if I'll go tomorrow .
Last sat I paid for sofa via credit card which has to be cleaned by 29th Dec to keep me in check . It was from oak Furnitureland . The sales rep was laughing at the way I just lay across the sofa I saw. I knew there and then it was meant for me . Not lime green , but a tan brown
The delivery guys turned up on Thursday to attempt to fit it in the living room . They failed . They were moaning about their day .
It was after 3pm and they didn't want to be there .The guy in charge was pleasant enough, but his young colleague had a look of misery.
The thing is , when expecting deliveries like these I tend to be a little anxious ( hope it's not damaged / hope it fits in the flat etc). This means I'm "bouncy " and feeling sympathy for their supposedly bad day. What happened was they couldn't get in the living room after inboxing . Leaving the sofa vertical outside my bathroom . I asked if I paid them something would they remove feet and try again l no go
I signed disclaimer about small / narrow entrance etc .
They put the box outside the recycling bin which was gonna be collected next morning. Lucky I checked when they made their getaway. They left the to arm rests in the box . There is a glove on my living room floor . Before they scarpererd I spoke to their customer service on delivery guys mobile : I have 7 days to change my mind and if I do I have to pay another £90 or is it £80 to the guy who collects .
So, yesterday it was my birthday . My sisters called and told me to complain . My friend moved it in with myself into the living room within 10 mins . So easy . He just said that they are not competent and they wanted to go to the pub . So I complained via Facebook and trust pilot
Spoke to a nice lady who refunded delivery charge . I changed bit reviews to positive . Best be straight forward . Praise where it's due etc
Yesterday had a few Guinness with friend and Irish coffee.
So what was a bad week has been reversed for now .
Saw mr trainer on Friday and today .
Today he has results of my measurements from a while back .
He said everything is coming down. He cannot quite believe it
I have been eating crisps and bread as I have been peed off at times, but still the weight is down . Not sure about jeans but my trouser size has gone down from 55" to 44" . Jeans are 35" . Not to get carried away. Everything is down . I need to keep going .
Looking at withdrawing some of that cash in my pension l chose drawdown . I will be taking out a chunk less than £10k and make it flexible so that if I'm in dire straights further down the line ,,I wont be penalised . I have more in there than expected . In that way , its almost like I'm not touching it at all0
