£50 for everything, meat and groceries together. It takes a bit of planning, but it is do-able.

I guess how do-able will be impacted by the size of the family you're shopping for. From your original post on this thread I see you're shopping for 2, but I know there are likely to be many on here shopping for larger family groups.

I only shop for 1 most of the time (me), but will also be feeding my OH for 6 days during February, so that makes me a 1.25 person household or thereabouts.

Even feeding just me I'm unlikely to cope on £50. I burn a lot of calories on a daily basis (partly due to work, partly because of additional exercise as I'm training for the London Marathon), so I have large meals and am working on a food only budget of almost £20/week just for me - plus anything I already have in the house that I use, which is probably accounting for around another £10-£15/week at the moment

Another spend at Aldi today £71 which should (Fingers crossed) last till after payday
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
  • This week has seen me spend £31.83 out of my £35 budget. I worry a bit too much about going over really and underspend as a result. Maybe it would be a good idea to take a calculator next week.

Spent £20.11 on some stuff in Morrisons and a ton of veg at the veg market. I'm wanting to lose 7lbs, so I'm going to live on homemade veggie soup and salad for the next 3/5 days to kickstart it. I don't think I will really need any more stuff, but will not declare yet. My lodger came back from hols on Sunday and brought me some booze and a load of vegan choccies - oh er - I'm not drinking for Jan #RollOnNineDays I have updated sig.

EDIT: Anyone got any good soup recipes - I do mushroom, onion & garlic, tomato & lentil. Gonna do leak & potato.

Unplanned Approved Food shop due to having a free delivery code sent to me and also realising I had nearly £15 credit on the site and it has been a while since I last ordered. Found enough we use to fill a box so went for it.

Picked up some eggs in my travels as well.

Trip to Costco today as well which went well and I stuck to the list so happy days. Although as suspected have tipped over my monthly budget and still a week to go although probably just milk needed in the next week.

Won't beat myself up though as first month looking at what we spend and didn't have the lightbulb moment until a week in and had spent nearly £300 by then already, lol. February will be another story and hopefully my steady plan to reduce the amount spent over the year will come together.

    £452.98/£450

NSD today, running a little bit low on fridge stocks but going to be inventive until I do the main shop on thursday.
We've got cereal and hot cross bun loaf for breakfasts, kids can have left over pesto pasta and a boiled egg for lunch, hubby will make himself a sandwich with some sliced chicken and I'll have left over frittata.
Tomorrow night I'm making kids and hubby mini burgers, using some italian meatballs I've got in the freezer and serving with frozen chips and beans, I'll have some frozen linda mcCartney sausages with a jacket potato and beans.
Need to meal plan for next week, hoping to use up the last bits of meat in the freezer, rather than buying more.

Shop completed to hopefully last until pay day on Monday. Spent £14.40 bringing my total spend to £164.96/£150.

Bought some YS soup veg and made Vegetable soup for lunches. Yogurts and healthy snack for DD, bacon and chilli for bacon chilli pasta...teamed with baguette this will be Thursday/Friday nights tea.

Not yet sure about Saturday/Sunday but I'll think of something.

YorksLass thanks for the tip re freezing celery, I wasn't aware you could do this. My celery that had been lurking at the bottom of the fridge is now chopped and safely stored in freezer.

thanks to everyone for all the encouragement.
