New Year, New Plans and Hopes

We seized the day yesterday and went to the Forest of Dean. We took a picnic and had a gentle stroll around the lake in the sunshine, but my it was cold. I am hoping to do a lot more of this during the coming year as our time together is more precious to me than the housework at the moment.
I have not updated my spending diary lately, but I have kept all the receipts, so they are ready to go in. I am also trying to run down my tinned goods so a FB pie was cooked for tea. It was horrible and when they are gone I shan't be replacing them.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
I am still living in hope, that 2018 brings me a new house. Nothing in the area I want so I started browsing further afield, maybe the cotswolds, only it will mean starting again, from scratch and that is daunting0

I was doing the budget and to-do list today and January has been a good month. I've had two days out socially, read four books and put £800 into savings.:T
February and March should be good for savings too as I don't have a council tax bill or water bills in those months.
I haven't bought any new clothes either, that isn't very impressive as it has only been about 3 weeks of the year so far.:D
I thought of something else I wanted to start doing this year - donate blood again. I used to do it very regularly.:)0 -
Wednesday wow £800 ! Good job :T.
Yesterday I managed to tidy/sort/cull my baking cupboard and I found the Xmas cake decorations that I thought I had thrown out ! Unfortunately I had to buy new ones, but at least now I have plenty to choose from this coming year.
Good luck to all those giving up alcohol, smoking or on a diet.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
So called Sky over the weekend - bill down by £13. Got rid of extras that we don't use anymore. Will see if there is anything else that I can do - its a new 18 month contract but i am fine with that...its a lot less than we were paying before, so i am happy.
All virtual pots updated.
Now looking for dye for my current sofa throws, as they don't match my sofas now. Probably will have questions about it later on.
Studying going ok - one week of on-line classes left and then revision questions questions questions.
Hope all are ok and having a good Tuesday - if you can have a good Tuesday that is.

I have booking for no less than THREE new-to-me guest dogs; two (who have the same owner) in April, and one in June.
This will put my guest count up to 73 different dogs since I started dog-sitting in July 2009. :T
My email to the local franchisee recently was a bit surreal; I was confirming receipt of information sheets on two upcming guests, and I found myself saying "I have downloaded the info on Honey and Fudge" - I did think it sounded a bit like a luxury dessert! :rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
We've dejunked the house of 17 years of clutter, which is just monumental. Just got promotion at work with a 50% payrise -
thank you very much. Currently buying a smallholding (hope to move within a month to grow fruit and veg and keep chickens and maybe other livestock). I'm celebrating 18 days smokefree and loving it - taking one day at a time, but I'm cautiously optimistic I've cracked it this time round. Celebrating 4 months as a vegetarian. Need to be healthy to dig that land and round up chickens. This is the year I'll finally learn to drive (nearly 51) and get a small car. Later in the year I'll be bogged down with professional qualifications on top of all the office work, but husband, stepdaughter and son-in-law are moving with me to work the smallholding and make my life as easy as possible, given that I'll be dealing with long commutes. Weekends and holidays will become infinitely precious, and I will wring every moment of pleasure out of them. The future looks bright and positive
Ah, re the dejunking - on the konmarie thread we call that the Woo factor. Get rid of stuff and good stuff happens. congratulations on your promotion
congrats on being smoke free - i gave up 30 years ago basically saying that i wouldn't smoke today... and then counting the number of days since I'd smoked. eventually the thought of going back to day 1 was enough.Continue going to yoga at least once a week
Less internet more reading books
Also planning to make the study a cosy place to be - it is being remodelled in January and i want to make it less "storage room with desk" and more "cosy work room with hidden storage".
My father died two weeks ago and in some ways my life will be easier (doesn't take away my sadness, obviously), as i had to factor in monthly visits and regular phone calls. I aim to use this extra time wisely in looking after myself, mentally and physically and making my life a little simpler.
So: update..
still going to yoga and loving it
less successful on the internet / reading issue.
office is coming along nicely but isn't finished yet.
Also
Have caught up with friends that i've neglected over the past couple of months
set to and got rid of some standing orders / direct debits that we didn't need but were very small - however it is totalling over £200 a year and we have changed our heating and electric bills to DD gaining another £220 a year.
Also finally got rid of DD's allowance as she is now working in a permanent job (albeit part time)- this will save £££££s.
So all fairly positive.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Quick update from me
23 days without a drink, and still not missing it. Am going to the pub on a Saturday for a catch up and am quite happy with a coffee
I've also tackled the joke that's been called my dressing table, and another sack of rubbish has hit the bin. I don't know why I've hung on to so much make up, I'm sure most of it must be a breeding ground for botulism it's that old
So that's the living room, bathroom and most of my bedroom stripped back to the bare bones. Making life so easier. I'm not the most house proud of people and I'm happy to leave dust till you can write your name in it. But now I'm making a concerted effort to give the living room and bathroom a once over daily and because there's no clutter, it's easy peasy
However the getting fit bit has slowed off. In my defence I've worked more shifts then I'm usually rostered, plus DH has been building a new garage so I've been on beck and call
My next challenge is "The Office". It is in fact the hot press. But it's the size of a single bedroom, so one half has the hot tank and shelving for all the spare bedding and towels and the ironing pile, the other side is a desk, PC, printer and filing cabinet. Only the filing is in piles everywhere and the drawers are filled with cables and routers and god knows what. And when I say spare bedding, I'm talking about enough to kit out a small hotel
It's going to be a hard task and I'm dreading starting it but I've been putting it off for years. Just so easy to shove something in there, shut the door and forget about it
So I'm still moving forwards, just slower then I'd like
Hope everyone else is still on track
Take care all0
