Hello. Just a quick pop in.
Went shopping yesterday and only bought what I needed, except toilet rolls. I stocked up as they were on offer, oops ! But it means I won't need to buy any for at least 3 - 4 months :).
I'm still keeping a spending diary. I know it's only been 2 weeks but that's more than I usually manage, usually fail in the first week and I'm also pleased with what I haven't bought :rotfl:.
Good luck to everyone, you have my virtual support.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently

Have decided to add sort out the finances properly. To that end I am in the process of making out a proper inventory of food stocks ect. The budget sheet is started and I have down loaded my payslips.

Jackie O thanks for the tip about Library's lending e-mags. Ive checked our and they do that here. I got a tablet for Xmas so I will be able to download mags, books and audiobooks onto that. That will cut down on thenumber of books ect in the house.

Took a trip to local library yesterday, got the info I needed on downloading e books and magazines. The up shot is I have cancelled a magazine subscription saving over £50. Also I dont think the CS around here will do as well out of me as I have downloaded my first book
  • Doing well so far this year and have had only one food shopping trip so far and spent very little of my January food budget :):):)

I have found so many odds and ends through my decluttering that I had forgotten about, but still haven't found my kindle :) I did find the charger for it though :)

I am researching on the net somewhere to buy a folding table to do my jigsaws on and so far I have seen them at £100 plus !!! I don't think so more research is required, or I shall be resorting to my old pasting table from the cupboard under the stairs I think :):)The reason I need it to be folding is so that when not in use I can store it behind my sofa out of the way I have seen a nice one on Amazon but it is in the US so shipping may push up the price a bit My DD works in a school so I will ask where they get their ones from first

    onwards and upwards chums

We've dejunked the house of 17 years of clutter, which is just monumental. Just got promotion at work with a 50% payrise -
thank you very much. Currently buying a smallholding (hope to move within a month to grow fruit and veg and keep chickens and maybe other livestock). I'm celebrating 18 days smokefree and loving it - taking one day at a time, but I'm cautiously optimistic I've cracked it this time round. Celebrating 4 months as a vegetarian. Need to be healthy to dig that land and round up chickens. This is the year I'll finally learn to drive (nearly 51) and get a small car. Later in the year I'll be bogged down with professional qualifications on top of all the office work, but husband, stepdaughter and son-in-law are moving with me to work the smallholding and make my life as easy as possible, given that I'll be dealing with long commutes. Weekends and holidays will become infinitely precious, and I will wring every moment of pleasure out of them. The future looks bright and positive :)

Jackie - I bought this one two years ago.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006WC6F7M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    This one is cheaper:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Harbour-Housewares-Folding-Computer-Laptop/dp/B01D0BSP0M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1516368939&sr=8-6&keywords=folding+desk

I use mine a lot as I don't have a dining table and often have to do marking. It folds up and sits in the outside barn normally, at peak times it stays against the back hall wall for easier access.
  • So new year, new sofas...new sofas and armchair delivered and old ones taken away....so much more room in our living room now. It's unnerving!!! Think that DH a little bit confused but that is to be expected considering his incurable disease.

Next stop still be calling sky and getting a new deal.

Hope everyone has a good rest of Friday and a good weekend.

    SIL x

Today I had a mindfulness taster session and tomorrow OH and I are going to London to see London Lumiere. That will be a lot of walking and I am looking forward to that.

    Tiglath,

Congratulations on the dejunking of 17yrs of clutter:T - any tips?
Massive congratulations on the promotion & the pay rise:T
SUPER MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS ON GIVING UP SMOKING:T:T:T - I am a smoker & know I need to give up but each time I “give up” I end up smoking again - I have tried patches, gum, old style vaping (20 yrs ago) & even hypnotherapy! I know all the reasons, benefits etc to give up BUT I think at the moment I am just too lazy to stop. I need to work out a strategy for myself.

I am in awe Tiglath - so much going on & so many successes:T
Happily I am inspired by this rather than depressed:j

Mrs SD when I packed up smoking (back in 2002) I used to put the money I would have spent on [STRIKE]coffin nails[/STRIKE] cigarettes into a tin; and when I felt I was definitely and permanently smoke-free (I think it was a few months down the line when I felt confident that I wouldn't backslide) I emptied the money out and purchased a really lovely pewter and crystal Dragon. :o
