Give up with it, i was responsive for the first 2 years of returns obviously but i never received the post for the year 16/17. Im fighting a losing battle! Its stressing me out to the max. Going bankrupt would wipe the slate clean and a fresh start. I never have constant work so can not set up a payment plan and this is affecting my mental health once again!!
You were advised to get an accountant in 2016 when you filled in your returns on this thread

and you decided against it.
You have to convince the HMRC you didn't mess up on purpose because they may prosecute.
You're a painter and decorator yes? I can paint and decorate too, however it's not likely to be up to the kind of standard you can do it.
Same thing with accountants. You can do it but definitely not up to the same standards.
You will get out of this mess so remember for next time, you didn't train to be an accountant, so don't try to be.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Either you’re well enough to run a business and pay your taxes or you are not. You can’t cite it as a reason for not dealing with your tax evasion. Actions have consequences.0 -

Why do people play the "bullying" card the moment someone challenges them?
It's a fair question and yes, you are running a business if you are self employed. As harsh as it is, you are clearly not competent enough to sort your own taxes out and now it's come back to bite you on the backside, hard.
HMRC won't mess about and you were told 12 months ago to get a proper accountant and sort this out. Moaning on a forum and/or burying your head in the sand won't change a thing.
The only people that can help are a good accountant and HMRC themselves. As has been said, if HMRC think you have purposely been evading tax it's fraud and it won't be written off. Going bankrupt a second time is hardly likely to endear you to the official receiver either and expect to spend way longer than 12 months before it's discharged.
If you genuinely have health issues you should stop being self employed and find an employed position somewhere or get a responsible person to manage your life for you.0 -

Hearing information you don’t like doesn’t necessarily equate to bullying. I’d suggest this is more difference of opinion. It’s certainly not sustained or repeated, which is generally the accepted definition of bullying.0 -

No your right i don’t, the companies i work for pay them automatically at 20% out of my wages SMARTASS!!!
Looking at your other posts, you certainly do like bullying other forum members.0 -

I do not run a business. I act as an employee but on a subcontractor (cis tax) basis. I am a painter, that works for a painting and decorating company, who choose to take me on as cis instead of employed as its cheaper for them taxwise. They win the jobs, price the work, etc, me and the others just do the painting work for them. So its exactly the same as being employed, just without the employee benefits.0
