Hello everyone!
I’m so excited to find this thread. This year is my little girl’s first Christmas and I can’t wait! I’ve got a good start on my shopping already (and I actually bought her Christmas Day outfit in the January sales before she was even born so that’s sorted! XD)

I find OH really hard to buy for and we've been together 20yrs...I'm sure it gets harder rather than easier too - he doesn't really have any hobbies you can buy stuff for IYKWIM and usually has the latest football shirt be Xmas.
If your boyfriend is getting into cooking could you try and book something you can do together like a certain day's style of cooking class (my friend and her OH have done this and really enjoyed it). Or perhaps something like a brewery tour (though I must admit as much as my OH likes the end product, he prob wouldn't appreciate the tour) or wine tasting?
If he's funny about choosing certain things could you get him to put a list on Amazon - or get him vouchers towards something he does? I know it might not seem overly romantic but this year I said to OH I needed some new running trainers - he gave me cash because he didn't have time to stop at a particular shop...which was a good thing because I like the apparel from there but would never choose their trainers for serious running. I did however really appreciate money towards something that I will get a lot of use out of I would have struggled with paying for without my birthday pennies.

We just don’t do pressies to one another, and it’s lovely! Whilst everyone else is stressing over what to buy, I don’t have to think. We are both difficult to buy for, and I get plenty from family, so this works well for us. If we did buy however, I think I would book a weekend away for Jan/Feb time when things are a bit tight and there isn’t a great deal to look forward to. My Sister has done just this and they will be off to Portugal, but somewhere closer to home (York for Eg) works be equally lovely x0 -
Yay!!We are beginning to move here!
Free, hope you had a good day, I know there were a couple of others, but forgot to make a note, so hope you had a good day also.
Been so busy that I have not had time to think, but think I am fully free this weekend, which will give me a chance to catch up with myself.
Ordered some cashmere pashminas from Aliexpress, they were delivered this morning, will have a look when I get home, think they were about £7 each, but have chosen nice Christmassy/warm colours, so hopefully they will be quite reasonable gifts.
Need to sort out what I have for the families, going to Costco after work, primarily to pick up stuff for the office, but hoping they have their Christmas stuff in, especially the Christmas cards & then get toothpaste etc for the families. I know it probably sounds an odd thing to be getting, but it will be less every day essentials for them to buy.
I had a txt from LL, surveyor wants to come in on Friday, because I have been so busy, place looks like a bomb has hit it, nothing like a bit or pressure to get things done!A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Welcome RIOTLADY, how lovely that it’s your little one’s first Christmas. Getting her Christmas outfit before she arrived was definitely forward planning!:D
Had a fabulous day with DD1 today buying lots of Christmas bits and quite a few pressies sorted. Primark have lots of nice bits and Home Bargains have some really good Christmas stuff now, some bargain drink themed pressies and also the salted caramel Matchmakers for £1. Oh and the Caramac buttons. I’m putting pressies in Christmas bags again this year so having bought some nice bags today I’ve now got 7 pressies bought and wrapped plus one and a half birthday pressies so I’m feeling pretty good right now. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hello Everyone,New joiners and returners,
Been to Aldi today, they have Christmas food in.Got some of their Florentines to put away. They are lush.Tried to make them once, cost a fortune and were not as nice as Aldi. Also got some of their chocolate sticks which I will make into little snowmen for class gifts and also for the Sally Army fundraiser in December.
I am going to Nottingham Friday so will get chance to mooch round all the usual shops that we just don't have here.Excited to see Christmas wares.
I am a convert to Christmas bags too Peppa. My stash of Christmas paper will last until eternity! My children can inherit it.

Hi, I hope its ok if I join in? I was a member years ago and remember how amazing the Christmas thread has always been, happy birthday FreeSpirit, I remember you!
Years ago when I was a member my children were little, now one has graduated Uni (just gone to start Masters) and youngest working during gap year before uni, their childhoods have flown too fast so Christmas is a little different now but I still enjoy making it as special as I can
Ive started my prep properly this week, Ive bought some fluffy purple unicorn note books in Sainsbos, they are labelled £6 but scanning at £3, also went looking for the After Eight advent calendar today but although its gorgeous its £10 so settled for the new big Quality St one which is lovely and £5. I also found Pigs In Blankets crisps in Mr T, and have placed my M&S Christmas food order today so managed to get a good pick up slot.
I work part time in retail (js) and part time from home, have bartered 24th - 28th off in exchange for working 23rd and NYE/NYD. We've also booked our family Christmas meal at our favourite country pub for an evening when they have carol singers from local church, mulled wine etc, which hopefully will be lovely!
Am enjoying reading all your lovely plans and your prep xxx0 -
welcome pinkunicorn, riotlady and any other newbies
Primark have some grinch themed stuff in including a fleece blanket and xmas wrap. Unfortunately taz is still scared of the grinch so none for me again this year
had a boots letter today 1st points event is on oct 11th and I also got a voucher for 15% off 3 for 2 xmas gifts
They haven't put it put yet but asda had a whole pile of free from xmas goodies in boxes on top of the section so hopefully that will be on shelves soonthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
If i decide to have a stall for my cards at the school christmas fair it's a £20 donation to the school to have the stall so now deliberating if we should give it a go. I probably will ...don't expect much but be nice to try.
My neighbours will hate me...they are taking parcels almost daily at the minute :rotfl: suppose least they are good enough to take them for me though. It's a nuisance having to try and chase where they are if the courier takes them to a depot.
Hope everyone is ok£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120
