Afternoon everyone, a very miserable day here, been raining since first thing this morning (I love it) :D Thankyou for my birthday wishes I had a fab day with the kids and Thumper, was very spoilt and instead of a cake my DD2 treated me to MrsBellsBrownies omg they were delicious. Thumper was hilarious and said my present from him was a stink present :rotfl: cheeky monkey. DD2 finally got the diagnosis yesterday and he does have ASD, so hopefully he can get help now and DD2 and OH can get help and advice. Christmas wise I am doing really well, all gifts bought and finished except a few more bits for DD1 stocking, Christmas pjs bought, 2 bagfuls of Christmas chocs and shortbread etc, you can hardly move in my bedroom, I need to sort it all out and wrap. I have ordered a new Christmas tree, which should come the last week of October. I have decided to go back to artificial after having real trees for 7 years, it is a beauty, all snowflocked, DD1 says she wouldn't be surprised if she comes back from her holiday to see it up :rotfl: I also got my HB Gingerbread candle, they had the most fabulous large stags in there, all glittery and really tall, the next time I go I am going to get one. PINKUNICORN8 wow I cant believe you remember me, welcome back! Its been lovely hearing about all your Christmas Prep. Oh CHRISSY I hope you are feeling better and the results were ok. I cant remember who asked about when we start reading Christmas books, I start on my birthday so the 1st Oct, right through til New Year. Right I am off to make a hot coffee and lunch.

Lovely reading through all your plans :) ..I hope you're all having a great weekend so far.

I've bought a few more things today, a beer and a nice M+S scarf for dad and coconut ice and some nice Waitr0se toiletries for mum.

I also picked up some beers to give as a little gift to my OH's younger brother. We always end up gifting alcohol to each other! haha :)

I bought some rum & raisin fudge from the clearance this week from H0mesense for my parents. Their foodie bit is brilliant. I work near a store so I try to pop in and check out their clearance bit and normal bit for food, as there's some great things to find there.

The presents for my friends are all done now I think. The £1 panettones from Wilk0 really look good and are bigger than I expected... so I think I can get away with just giving that, the little mason jar shaped candle, caramac buttons and cadburys Christmas tree bar. If anything, I'd just add some jelly sweets of some kind...

Nice to see all the Christmas bits in M+S now. I buy lots of their beauty gifts for my parents at Christmas as they're cruelty free, which is great. So I'll start buying some of those from the store near my work this week I think.

I updated my spreadsheet the other day so I know what I've bought exactly now. Haven't kept a note of all the costs this year, but I know I'm being as savvy as poss. Really pleased to see how much I've ticked off already!

Thank you for the heads up on the 75p chocolate oranges StokieBecks! I work near a Mr T too, so I'll try to get some of the dark ones :)

Went to a big second hand book shop yesterday and picked up the book I wanted for DD1's BF.As I was coming out I was photographed by a large group of German tourists!Think coach trip!

I also got 2 kites from Aldi for DD1 and BF.Reduced to £2.99 each. Also got DD1 a pink succulent plant in a pink pot which is currently in my bedroom window. She wants that pale pink which is everywhere in her sitting room if the purchase of this house EVER happens. This has been going on since July at glacial pace.

Next on my list is chocolate coins.Anyone seen the best price for these?

Free, you kept that very quiet, finishing your Christmas shopping! Glad Thumper has a diagnosis, hope things can get moving now.

We had frost here this morning, love it.All the trees looked beautiful yesterday too when we were out n about.

    Vx

Thanks for the heads up on the chocolate oranges. Will grab a few on Wed if I see them.

Glad you had a nice birthday Free. I love the sound of your tree, can't wait to see all the decorated tree pics this year.

Vulpix, I usually get my coins out of home bargains. Candy canes and Cadbury tree decs there too. They always seem to be nice chocolate at a decent price. I'm positive their coins are about 59p or 69p a bag. I know that's where I got loads of the little bags of Santa and Brussel sprout chocs for the kids advent Calander last year.

The weather has really turned. We did have a lovely sunny and quite warm day yesterday. But today is wet and blustery. The trees are looking beautiful now the leaves are all changing.
My only worry is the trampoline. I had a man with a van coming to dismantle and take it away. He only wanted £10 to do it. I thought that was a bargain. But he never showed up. He had asked me to just leave the money under a rock and he could come while I was at work. I told him I'd rather be here, so not sure if it was all just a scam and that's why he never showed. Anyway, now I have a wrecked trampoline that is no longer weighed down. So any high winds could see it taking off like a 10ft frisbee! I might have to try and take it apart myself.

  • One note with Homesense food. I bought a Crabtree biscuit selection in my local store and it had a best before date of 10/11/2018. So I couldn’t give it as a gift or Christmas which I was originally intending. So please all check the dates on Homesense food items.

I came across some eco friendly gadget cleaner the other day so I have bought a few of them to give as gifts for the men.

I am making tree of life and feather beaded bookmarks to go in stockings out of old jewellery broken down. Only cost me £1.50 each to make.

Treasurequeen...I think I saw the sets in h0mesense that you mean! I almost bought it myself as a gift for OH's mum, but glad I checked the date first, as they had similar before Christmas dates. Bad really when they've been put on a shelf of "Christmas gifts".

We've just got back from a quick little shopping trip. We just felt the need to get out somewhere! So I picked up some beauty gifts from M+S for my parents, as well as a H0tel Chocolat selector for OH as I had a voucher to get one for £2. So I let him pick the one he would like for Christmas... one less stress/choice for me to have to make! haha :)

A friend of mine has just started as a b0dy shop seller. She's the younger sister of a close friend of mine and I know she is probably trying to save for her wedding next year and her lovely little girl, so I'm hoping to make an order with her later too for a few more pressies. I'm sure she'd appreciate the sales and it'll be a few more presents ticked off. Feel like I'm doing well this week...

Free glad you had a good birthday. Good to hear thumper finally got his diagnosis taz got his in the summer and as much as you know its going to happen I think having it made official is very emotional. We're still kind of in limbo here as it was very much yes he has asd now get on with it and I almost feel more isolated now then I did before as at least I had my local asd drop in to go to but you can only go until you get a diagnosis :( though I have recently had an info pack with a list of local support groups come through the post. School have his report so waiting to hear what they are going to put in place for him but they are def taking their time about it.

thanks for the heads up re the gingerbread candles at home bargains managed to snag the last one yesterday and it was one of the big ones too :D they also had gingerbread reed infusers
some lovely xmas stuff in there at the moment they had some tealight holders that have images on the inside so they show when you light them up if that makes sense? picked up some red ones with stag/reindeer on but quite liked the silver let it snow ones too.

I've seen 2 different £5 & a £2 xmas scratch cards in a few shops though no £1 ones yet

Tesco xmas food to order comes out at the end of oct
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk
  • All Christmas chocolates and biscuits have been bought and stored away into Christmas cupboard. My vegetarian sausages for my Christmas dinner have been bought. Just in case tesc0 decide to take them off shelves which they have a habit of doing. A few more crisps and nibbles have been bought as the dates say Feb 2019. Just need to get some Pringles and then crisps will be finished. I’m running out of room now though but I’ve saved a lot of money this year by spreading the cost. I’ve been getting things with my weekly shops and storing them in cupboard.

Tesco have boxes of quality street, heroes, roses, celebrations for £1.50. So I’ve bought a few for extra gifts.
