VintageHistorian how about a 'night in' hamper for them....no not THAT kind of night in :o:eek:

Something like a pizza voucher (do Domnioes do anything like that?) or to be healthier something like an M&S card for a dine in dinner. You could add a nice candle and then some popcorn and a DVD or NowTV cinema voucher or something for a film after dinner? Perhaps some silly bits like cosy socks for each of them or a throw to snuggle under?

Or if they are saving for a house, a Groupon for a meal out might be nice so they can go out without feeling guilty about spending?

Last year the range had popcorn packs in a fancy box that came with a movie download code... not sure if they will have the same again but they were perfect for those sorts of hampers :) x

  • Oh also meant to say Lidl have choc oranges at 99p,
And I don't know if either of these are good prices or not, but After Eights were £1.99 and there were two smaller sizes of those round nutty sweets in the gold wrappers, £1.49, and £1.99 I can never remember what they are called because I don't like nuts they don't count as real chocolate :P haha!

I was at my aunt and uncles the other day and she was showing me the christmas decs her and my cousin have bought from the range <3 sooooo pretty!!! They have some really gorgeous stuff in! I've not been to look yet, trying to avoid spending all the pennies before I've earnt them lol. I am off to Ikea tomorrow though, been given a santa list of a few bits for my friends little boy, but other than work stuff I aim to buy nothing else... (Accidentally bought an advent calendar on last years visit that I might fill if I can think what will fit in the boxes, any ideas? they are only about an inch square I think and I'm supposed to be on a diet :/ )

Loving the Christmas chat ramping up now.

I’d be interested in ideas for filing an advent calendar too. I’d like to do one for DH - I’m fine for ideas for the calendar itself but I’m stumped for what to put in it. I’m trying to encourage him to cut down on sweets but I’m not sure what else there is.

I’ve decided I’m going to do the Christmas crafting morning again that I did last year (me, my sis, DD1 and my mum). This year we’ll be doing rock painting with a Christmas theme so I’ve already painted rocks the background colours red, green or white so we can just focus on the designs then I’ll varnish them and hand them back when they’re dry. I’m debating whether to do potato printed wrapping paper for the second craft or to buy some Fimo or similar and make a tree decoration. You might be able to tell I’ve been rewatching last year’s Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • Peppa, depending on the style of decorating you do, you could so some salt dough cut outs on some twine as a little garland to go on a mirror or on a tree.

    <3 That sounds AMAZING!
Every year I say I'm going to make my own wrapping paper then never get round to it :(

I've been to Ikea today, little sis had a birthday voucher, and my friend asked me to get a few furniture bits for her little boys xmas pressies. But! It just happened to be the launch of their Christmas section :D there was a man from Slade there, I want to say Dave, but I might be making things up now... anyhow was quite festive and jolly, with music and pretty lights, and they were giving away gingerbread bun things, very yummy! :)

I got tempted by another of their advent calendar boxes... but resisted! I also love their wrapping paper and bags, but they don't seem great value really, and a little dissappointed by their decs, nothing as unusual as there normally is... There was some paper roses which looked very effective, but I could definitely make those myself!

So I was very good, and only got some bits and bobs for my display at Christmas markets, and some orange Daim. Oh and some iced tea flavoured with pine.... It's not a trip to ikea without Daim and something weird to try :P

I have also booked a trip to Leeds for January for part of the boyfriends Christmas pressie... though I'm pretty sure it's more a gift to myself. I went to uni in Leeds, and all those on this day 10 years ago things on facebook are showing me freshers week, and making me miss leeds :( I've only visited 3 times since uni, and the last of those was 5 years ago! I can't wait!! :j :T :j
Is anyone in here from that area? Any advice on where to go what to do? I know so much has changed since I lived there, the Trinty center was just being started back then! X

  • Hi everyone, I wish I'd been on this thread last year when I was making couples joint hampers. I thought they'd be so simple and less stressful than buying individual presents but I found the hampers more strrssful trying to think of all the things to put in it. This year I'm going back to individual gifts lol.
I've bought pretty much everything for my two DSs and nieces, nephews and all the kids I need to buy for. And I've got 2 of the adults. Lakeland had some gorgeous Gin glasses sets so got them for my SILs who don't have any gin goblets and wee gin miniatures from Matalan to go with them.
No idea what to buy for the rest and then men!

My sister also asked me what she could buy my DSs and said she'd quite like to get them a joint present rather than two smaller things. They're 5 and 2 and I've no idea! Does anyone have any suggestions please as I quite like this idea of one bigger thing between them

Welcome jewels1207 5 and 2 is quite a big age gap at that stage to buy one joint present. Could your sister perhaps buy or put £ toward you getting tickets for a family day out the kids would both enjoy? Doesn't have to be expensive / miles away / fancy - somewhere perhaps like a farm / petting zoo or soft play?

  • Yes that's true kerri gt. That's actually a really good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! X
  • Dark chocolate oranges are down to £1.00 in Sainsbury’s.

I have found some Christmas ground coffee that tastes divine in M&S so I will buy a pack for the hamper. Also came across some fair trade organic Christmas tea so I will get some for the hamper too. My mum likes proper coffee and my dad likes tea. I’m going to get some salt free meat seasonings that I saw in health shop as I have a discount code. So I can get two for the price of one. My local post office sells homemade condiments so I will get the Christmas pickle in there to support a local business.
