  • I need some help and inspiration please: I am doing a hamper for my parents, so far I have got:
    - luxery Belgian chocolates
    - organic raspberry jam
    - organic red onion chutney
    - luxery italian cheese and onion cracker bites
    - lemon drizzle biscuits

i will buy nearer the time: christmas cake, pate, meat marinades, christmas pickle.

what else can i put in the food hamper i have a budget of £40.00 for the hamper?

    thanks xx

You could maybe include some nice tea/coffee? I make my mum a hamper every year and I get her nicer versions of things she will use but wouldn't necessarily spend the extra money on everyday. If they like alcohol then maybe a nice bottle of something? Or some nice presses if they're not?

I agree with lasysheep some fancy coffee/tea/hot choc and a bottle of wine/presse depending on what they drink would tie it together nicely

If anyone sees any 3ft ish red xmas trees could they let me know as Taz really wants one but its not really a colour you see. I've seen some 12inch ones on ebay ect and some really expensive bigger ones but just after something cheapish for his room. I'm trying to convince him to get a white one and have red decs but its not really working.

you probably all already know but Smythstoys are doing £10 off every £50 you spend (exclusions apply)instore only till the weekend

Primark have started putting out the normal xmas decs
JJ they also had a boxed sloth PJ set, some sloth slippers and a sloth hot water bottle

  • Came across this Christmas festival that is being held at EventCity in Manchester from the 8th December.

It looks incredible for the whole family.

    It is called Winter Funland.
Go to the EventCity website and click Whats On, to read more about it.
    Or just Google Winterfunland 2018

    Well worth a look :j:xmastree::xmassign::xmassmile
  • Anyone who was after anything from the superdrug gift range I noticed the prices online are now showing cheaper than when they first went onsite

  • Hello, I always join around this time of year and then I get side tracked in November/December with huge life events and don't end up coming back, so here's hoping third time lucky and I can actually stick with you guys through the festive season.

This year I'm cooking my own Christmas dinner, I knew turkeys were expensive but didn't know just how much they cost, I am horrified after looking in the little Christmas magazines Sainsbos released this week.

Treasure Queen, We're doing a hamper for my OHs uncle this year. I'm agreeing with the others for a nice bottle of something or some posh tea/coffee they'd not usually buy themselves. We're popping in some cheese obviously closer to the time, posh crisps and chocolates, and some scratch cards, he always asks us to check his lottery tickets for wins for him when he visits us so think he would appreciate more chances to win. (other things you have already said too) Saw Debenhams have in some little tubs of posh looking pork crackling/scratching with some different flavours if that's something that they would like.
  • I've got some Christmas-themed washi tape off Etsy, so with brown paper for wrapping and some gift tags I bought in the sales last year I think I can tick the prep for that side off the list!

Good to read about the hampers everyone is doing. This is the first year my brother has a girlfriend who has been introduced to the family, and he's currently converting our parent's garage in to an annex that he'll move in to with her for a few years while they save for a house deposit. I'm tempted to do some kind of home hamper for them, but his girlfriend has been living in rented for a few years so I'm sure she'll have most things. I normally just buy my brother a big bag of sweets, so considered doing them an ice cream hamper this year. But he had a health scare a few months ago that led to Mum banning me from buying him excessive amounts of sugar in the future, so that's probably out the window.

I think I might have to ask my Mum to be a bit nosy about what they have in the annex, once it's completed and they move in, and then work out from there what kind of hamper to make them.

VintageHistorian how about a 'night in' hamper for them....no not THAT kind of night in :o:eek:

Something like a pizza voucher (do Domnioes do anything like that?) or to be healthier something like an M&S card for a dine in dinner. You could add a nice candle and then some popcorn and a DVD or NowTV cinema voucher or something for a film after dinner? Perhaps some silly bits like cosy socks for each of them or a throw to snuggle under?

Or if they are saving for a house, a Groupon for a meal out might be nice so they can go out without feeling guilty about spending?
