CHRISSYG- Sorry you've had a rough week
Hope the shopping trip goes well!
princesskitty- fingers crossed everything is ok with your mum

Wow those are some heavy trees! Bet they are beautiful though
Ordered some big jars of liquorice toffees from studio as xmas presents but they've sent some 'Steamin' Sheena the microwave cleaner' 's instead ??!! So had to send them a bizarre email to try sort that out haha.
Bought some of the old fashioned foil garlands today from poundstretcher as Hubby likes the traditional xmas look. Red, green and gold. Only 99p so it doesn't matter if/when they get tangled or snap.:p0 -
Afternoon everyone, have been reading but just haven't had anything to say
My tree arrived yesterday, I have waited 2 months as I pre-ordered it, but it got delayed twice and I began to think oh my god have I used a fake website, so when it arrived yesterday I was relieved but couldn't open it in case it wasn't as beautiful as the picture, so DD1 put it up this morning before I woke up, then pretended the dog had got mud all over my new sofas, I went running out to the LR, and there it was all put together lol, it is blooming gorgeous, ive noticed that it has gone up by £25 now so all in all I did good preordering and choosing a flocked tree
DS has taken back the top of one of Thumpers outfits as it still had the flipping security tag on it, luckily I found the receipt so it didn't look like I had nicked it, so I can wrap that up now.
PRINCESSKITTY sending hugs my lovely, its hard not to think the worst I know but try and think positively
STOKIEBECKS I hope you get your money back whether you are out of the time limit or not its flipping annoying when these things happen, you just assume that what you ordered you got. I am all over the Gingerbread Tassimo :rotfl: I haven't tried it yet but have 3 packs put by
MURIE I actually quite like the JL advert in fact the first time I saw it, it brought a tear to my eyeI don't like him as he is an a**e but I do like some of his songs
PEPPAPIG That's funny I have really noticed the poinsettias on Christmas trees this year, they have really stood out this year on peoples trees, I bet your trees will look lovely
RADIOACTIVEPIG ooh I love liquorice toffees, haven't seen them in years. I don't like studio, they seem to mess up a lot of orders for people#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Love how the thread is coming along, there's always so much lovely stuff to read when I get a chance to pop in
I've been wrapping a lot of presents this week. Saving some to wrap when I come back from my holiday, so I can get Christmas music on, hot chocolate, etc... But have wrapped the majority of my parents' presents and already taken them to theirs ready for Christmas day as they have a lot more room than me!
Thank you for the comments regarding Christmas card writing... still unsure what to do, but leaning towards writing the majority before I go away and not posting to neighbours unless I start to receive some before I go...
I've been buying a few extra bits here and there. In Sains yesterday I got my dad a wooden suduku game and I got my parents a puzzle magazine. I also got dad a Sudoku book from another shop.
I'm thinking about what to buy in the sales after Christmas already too! Definitely need to get some more Christmas wrap and nice tags that's for sure...0 -
Hi all,
Wow the thread is really picking up speed now. Lovely to see all us like minded Christmas crazies months of planning finally paying off. This is the time of year when my all year round planning is appreciated by the DH. My Christmas Tree was delivered and is now behind the snuggle chair until we put it up next weekend. I too have a flocked tree, wanted one for ages and finally bought a 6ft one. DD is now done apart from her main gift which is a nintend* switch. Just waiting for payday and will pick it up then. DS has now changed his mind on having cash for his gift, he has now given me a list of xbo* games and a smart watch he would like.Need some more things for DS, DH and my stockings. All that is left then is just money, vouchers and our food and drink. Apart from that we are preparing for our overnight stay in Edinburgh, looking forward to the Christmas Markets. Ordered some personalised cards from Card Factory, really happy with them. Mostly ordered the small sizes at 99p and free personalisaton. It is great to be able to just add that extra personalised touch to them and I am sure will be greatly received. They are a lot smaller than I usually send but I think will loved by all. Have just done them for immediate family. Ordered our matching Christmas Eve Pyjamas from Asda. The elf brings them every Christmas eve morning in our Chrstmas Eve hamper.
Big hugs to everyone and lots of Christmas Sprinkles0 -
Hi all,
DD is now done apart from her main gift which is a nintend* switch. Just waiting for payday and will pick it up then./QUOTE]
argos have some of the storage cases & accessories on offer in the black friday deals
after a lot of umming & ahhing I did get ds the switch I preordered the pokemon one as that game it the main reason he's after one and after doing the maths it was better value to go with the themed console deal than buy a regular one and then add the pokemon game/controller. When it came it was the wrong version so had to take it back and swap it. Guess what today he tells me hes been watching youtube the other version(the one they sent and I took back) is way better :wall: oh well he'll have to make dothis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
I'm thinking about making my boyfriend a selection box for Christmas, basically a giant version of the tiny ones you pay through the nose for! - but his birthday is also in December (2nd) do you think it would make a better birthday gift or Christmas gift?0
-
personally I associated selection boxes with xmas for us its tradition that everyone gets one in their stocking so I'd go with xmasthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0

mandco thank you x
radioactivepig thank you. You don’t fancy giving some Steamin Sheena the microwave cleaner for gifts then?? :rotfl:
freespirit thank you. Glad your tree came and that it’s everything you wanted.
charlotte I made my DH a selection box last year, it was fun. I tend to think of selection boxes as a Christmas thing, but it doesn’t mean they can’t be given for birthdays.
Thanks for your well wishes, my mum is fine after her A&E visit just waiting for the CT scan tomorrow. My dad ended up in A&E the night before last as he fell in the bathroom in the night and smacked his head against the wall!! It turns out his head is fine but they found out he has an infection in his leg. It’s all going on in their bungalow! I’ve ordered a few more Christmas presents including a SAD light box for my DH to have on his desk. He doesn’t like this time of year as it’s quite glum, he works from home and his office gets quite dark so I hope he likes this present. He’s doesn’t do ‘stuff’ so I have to make sure everything I buy him is practical and useful!0 -
Princesskitty They really are having a rough time hope your dad's ok Its kind of mortifying going to a&e as you've fallen and banged your head you feel so stupid even if it couldn't be helped. On the plus side they've picked up his infection so that is a good thing. Hopefully dh will like his lamp and it helps cheer him up a bit its so hard when they don't really do gifts.this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0

046.. glad to see you are back and that things are ok xx
Mandco- thats a typical kid thing - you could just scream at times couldn't you ? He will love it either way once he has it in his hands x.
Princesskitty- oh your poor parents x
I tend associate selection boxes ( i think they are a massive rip off though) with Christmas, but if you packaged it up in a non christmassy way then Im sure it would be received well for his birthday if he is a chocoholic like my DH. (tbh he would love it even if it was wrapped in a dustbin bag and given to him at any time of year if it had chocolate in it- and he's a diabetic!).
The weather is definitely cooler today, my ears were frozen when i took The Hound out first thing. DD asked 'Alexa' this morning what the weather is like in Vienna and she said there are snow flurries due!! I don't want heavy snow on the ground when we go (cus knowing me I will fall over and break something!) but I would like it to be lightly snowing and christmassy. Im getting excited now for the Christmas markets. Our large (but expensive) one in Birmingham opened last week and i have resisted the temptation to go because I don't want to spoil the authenticity of the 'real' ones in Vienna.lovin' this site!
