  • I usually go at night and theres no YS, is the key to YS Aldi going in the morning? Or is it jsut because it's Christmas?
With our local Aldi it's just because it's Christmas. There are very little YS items normally. Our Lidl and Iceland are pretty good though.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Well done on the ys meat guys from Aldi. I used to shop there all the time but now really can't face shopping with two small kids in tow do normally do online shopping. I do have a Sainsbury's local and small co-op near me that do have reduced items but none as good as the prices you got. I am very jealous as I love ys meat and if I see bargain that I would normally eat I stock up the freezer!

Joey, sorry for replying to someone else on your diary coffee, but I am definitely going to check out that survey site you mentioned as intend to do small top up shops in Sainsbury's and last year I used nectar points from work to but my son's birthday presents from Argos. So if I start now, I might have a little stash ready for his birthday at the end of Feb!

I feel like I should pay extra money that I get in straight off my debt but I am worried that will leave me short. But you are doing well so far to get under the £25k by the end of the year. Keep going and I'll try and keep up with your eBay listings and sales!

Toni - thanks for the tip! I'm tempted to pop back in before closing new years eve just in case..

Mumoffour - No worries at all :) I'm the same with the extras, I'm splitting all extras four ways, 1/2 on debt, 1/4 on emergency and 1/4 to top up weekly spends. My monthly budget after bills and payments doesn't have a lot of wiggle room at all, so the top up on weekly spends is my 'treat' money, although this week that treat has been YS stuff :D

I'm so happy I got under 25k, but the figure is scaring the life out of me. I've kept it in my speadsheet that lists everything, but I think it's best for me psychologically if I can only see the debt I'm attacking, hence just MBNA in my sig. That's the first one as 0% runs out in november. I should have a lump of cash coming soon from the ex, that won't be split that will go straight onto that card, but given his track record i'm not holiday my breath...

I'm happy to share the info. I only found out about them by reading someone's diary and asking them. Wish I'd known sooner. But the trick for me with them is definitely to keep trying a link through one of their emails until it finally says there are no more. Some days I make 200 points (£1) some days I've made 1500 points (£7.50), but most days I do get at least £1 usually more, and I don't find their surveys too irritating either.

  • Evening all!

:starmod: Tidy the house - Didn't do. I procraftinated most of the day.

    :starmod: [STRIKE]Spag bol for dinner[/STRIKE] :j
And it was YUM! 2 packs of the YS mince made 8 portions! I geeked out and worked out the bolognase cost 56p per portion. YS WINNER!

:starmod: [STRIKE]Survey as much as possible and DO NOT lose interest half way through the day[/STRIKE] DONE! Another little payout will update totals in a bit. Didn't check out the nectar ones though, must must do it.

:starmod: [STRIKE]Another wash on cold and quick[/STRIKE] It's in now. I wasn't going to bother but I've run out of... stuff

:starmod: [STRIKE]Must do my nails they are disgusting. I haven't for abotu 3 weeks[/STRIKE] Done. Huge moneysaver for me was buying the lamp and gel stuff from ebay and doing it myself rather than paying £20 every few weeks for someone else to. I've saved that ten times over in the last six months.

:starmod: [STRIKE]Make a dent in a blanket I'm making which I think someone is going to ask to buy from me[/STRIKE] Large dent made.

Off for a sleepover tomorrow, can't wait. No surveys while I'm out though. I haven't really done anything since christmas day. I almost can't wait to get back to work. I really can't wait to get back to using their heating, tea and loo roll :rotfl:

Still got lots of watchers on ebay but no buyers.

Another positive day. Hope they keep coming.:money:

  • Happy new years eve all. Just got back home, not much to report. Spent some money on a take away yesterday, turned down a night out tonight which would have cost three times the amount of the take away so not feeling over guilty. It has meant that next weeks budget will be tight, but also means I'm owed a take away in return so that will come in useful later on in the month.

No plans for the day other than chill. YS pork for dinner tonight.

I have decided that in 2018 I'm going to start saying no to things I don't want to do, and not feel guilty. I've turned down three invites in the last 24 hours. Two for new years, both events would have cost about £60, and one for next weekend which would cost about the same. All three no's have been met with a bit of guilting and oh go on.... but realistically none of these events are important enough for me to blow the monthly budget for. I really don't give a ...... about new years, everywhere is too busy and cabs cost so much, i'd rather not. I know it makes me sound like a misog, but I'm determined that in 365 days i'm going to be sat here in a very different financial situation, and if I keep saying yes to these things for other people, then I won't be. So misog it is :)

Happy New Year's Eve from another who is staying in alone (well with the cat!). I really hate going out on nye and my friends party was cancelled so I'm happy staying in!

  • Just the two of us staying in as well. Been invited to a party tomorrow but, to be honest, I'd rather stay at home so that's what we're going to do. Much rather go for a nice meal or a drink with a few friends during the year than force myself to say up drinking more than is good for me just because it's New Years Day.
You know, the older you get the easier you find it is to say no to doing things you really don't want to do. I rarely go out at night but enjoy going for lunch so do what you're comfortable with.

  • So glad it's not just me :rotfl: Thing is I love a night out on the town I just reallllllly don't fancy it today. I'd rather do a night out later in the month when everywhere isn't rammed to the rafters with idiots.

The whole saying no thing has come from the ill last year I think. A lot of 'friends' vanished, didn't bother texting, calling, coming to see me any of the time I was in hospital, and they all know there isn't an OH or family around. I know it can be hard offering the help, I mostly needed things like help moving from the bed upstairs to the sofa downstairs or more loo rol (it was phsyical not psychological) but it honestly taught me so much about who my true friend are, and I'll tell you what, there aren't many! The thing next week is £20 for food, £20 for taxi, then drinks and would require a present. This person didn't even text me. I feel selfish for saying no but then in my head I'm like, where were they? Why should I rally round in support when they can't even take 30 seconds to text me.

Sorry, venting, but I suppose it's just my nature to feel bad about these things.
