That £1 a day is effectively a payment a day.
And bank accounts permitting, some will and some won't let you do this, you could transfer the odd pence from your accounts left after using your contactless cards. But perhaps better to do it with actual real cash that you've already accounted for and the new income so you don't make things too tight.
Do you do Citizen Me on your phone - they send mini surveys (3-5 questions) and although lots aren't paid I seem to be getting 30-40p a day at the moment, paid instantly into paypal. Onepulse is similar but they've changed to paying in $ and you can only cash out when you get to $5.

  • Hey Joey! I'm on citizen me and onepulse, but citizen me has given me 20p in 2 weeks! I do keep checking in though. Nectar seems to be the one coming through most for me at the moment though, so I can't complain too much.

It's friday, yay! That means one week until payday and 9 days until my next budget cycle starts. Meeting today so I have to pay for the train ticket and dinner out has changed to tomorrow, so actually something to do this weekend. I'm very looking forward to a cheat meal! Spent another round £2 on razors yesterday, and made another teeny chip at the CC. My bank has charged me an 'overdraft' fee, which is strange as I don't have one anymore I cancelled it. I'm wondering if it's the account fee, as I upgraded to get cashback on bills, I'll leave it and see for a few weeks because calling them and gettng them to explain anything is like blood out of a stone.

Finally got a decent nights sleep last night, and cold seems to have started properly shifting, so gym can resume monday. Budgets all looking good at the mo, lets just hope nothing crops up over the weekend. On the final straight of the month, and I hope I make it :)

Not got to leave my house until later so I'm just trying to muster up the enthusiasm to start having a proper clear out of the flat, but first, coffee :D

    Happpy Friday all xx

  • Forgive me MSE for I have sinned... Kinda...
Meeting yesterday, just waiting for the train ticket money to come out (contactless). Trains were so up the swanny on the way home, what should have taken me an hour took 2.5. I got chips, and spent £4.60 on the pleasure. Have replaced the money out of a cash out from PA. First unplanned spend of the month, slapped wrist etc.

Good news is I spent costa points on a good coffee, first one of the month. So rough with the smooth. Also managed to proper spring clean most of the flat. I now need to find some time to list the stuff on ebay. I'm toying with the idea of selling my dvds, but I'm torn. I do watch them. Also not selling the craft supplies, but everything else that possibly can be is in the ebay pile.

Already running late this morning, woops! Looks like I'm going to be out all weekend, but only spend should be dinner. Fingers crossed, it's cheat day yayyyyy!!!

Off to update my totals with another little dink. No surveys this weekend and can't say I'm not looking forward to a few days away from them, although it does make me feel kind of guilty.

Happy saturday all, see you on the other side x

  • That sounds like a productive day.

I have been in that situation when your card doesn't work regardless of the reason and its horrible.

Still decorating the living room for me, started last weekend and the wallpaper is finally off the walls. Six layers! The bottom layer was wood-chip too. Started stripping the paintwork on wood now. I don't have my kids till the second week of Feb, so loads of time.

    Have a good weekend.

Given that your train was so very late can you not claim for delay repay? OH travels a lot - at least 2 long train journeys a week - and delay repay paid out over £400 during November and December thanks to delays from Euston mostly. He's already up to almost £60 from January alone - he has three trips this week and two next so we'll see what that brings.
Last year we used it to create an emergency fund for DS1 going to uni, and since September we have used it to top up the pots for annual payments for insurance, professional membership fees etc.
This year those pots are in the monthly budget (the insurances always were but the professional fees used to be paid by our respective companies) so any delay repay payments are going to be split between overpaying the mortgage and a fun fund.

Ooo joey I'll have to have a look at that! I'm not sure though as I didn't 'buy' a ticket, it's a touch in touch out with your card job but certainly worth looking at, thanks for the heads up!

grsl - Six!? That's a lot of stripping! Lesson learned with the card I'll always take two out now lol.

So weekend was lovely. Really, properly, wonderfully lovely. Had cheat day on Saturday, dinner was immense! Ended up popping to the supermarket though for bits for the rest of the weekend including a few drinkies on Saturday night so I owe a contribution of £10 to that. It's only fair, I ended up spending the entire weekend there lol. But that did take me over the planned spends, but there's no rush for it, so can send it over later in the week. Lovely lazy day for the main yesterday, and then some company last night. Late night so a bit sleepy tired today, but completely worth it.

Focus for the week is earn. As much as I possibly can ready for week off next week. I need to have a sort out of what I've spent and what I have left as the train ticket still hasn't come out. But, basic round up of scores on the doors for last week:

    Food spend - £0
    Toiletries - £2.00
    Other spends - £0
    Social/eating out - £36.15
    Petrol & Train - £26.00 - approx

    Fun pot - £27.56
    Emergency Pot - £25.92
    Overpayment on MBNA - £12.95

Still no CC use, but I am down to the last dregs of my budget now. Hoping that £10 petrol will be enough, I've got £5 cash, £5 in nectar points, need a little top up shop, and need to get a bottle of wine for Saturday night. I also need to cobble together £10 for last weekend, and get some toothpaste. Can I make it? It's squeaky, but I'm going to try my hardest to keep out of the CC! All extra earnings may need to be used for actual spends this week though, but then I did know it would be tight till the end of the month and I think I've had some pretty big wins through Jan having managed to actually pay for everything I've had to so far without credit.

Happy Monday all, final straight till payday! xx

  • Warning: Moan alert

Today has just been one of those. Work's been a mare, zero downtime, I feel rubbish and tired, my blood sugar is all over the shop, I've cancelled gym tonight, I forgot to get dinner out the freezer, I just want to go home and curl up with a huge pizza and sleep. ARGH.

What I'm going to do is have a tea before I leave work, go home, get a spag bol out the freezer and heat it on low to defrost it and get listing on ebay. Once I've eaten dinner I'm going to have a bath, catch up with some TV and get an early night. I can't face answering questions about pasta packets tonight, but I know I need to keep the momentum, so ebay it is.

Just, argh. After such a lovely weekend as well. Monday can go jump. And if anyone finds my positive pants, please let me know!

Oh bless you, after a lovely weekend, Monday can come as a hard slap sometimes.
Your plan sounds good - it'll stop you prevaricating and accidentally doing something you'll regret. I swear by the 15 mins rule when I'm like that. I have to do the stuff on my list that I don't want to do, but only for 15 minutes at a time. It works as I find you can do anything for 15 minutes.

  • It really was a slap today. Thanks Joey, Just needed a grumble I think, feeling much better now I'm home and fed. Last of the first batch of spag bol, one batch lasted almost a month! 2 pack of the ys mince, I'm still super chuffed with that. I'll make another batch this weekend and do a lasagne ready for a few quick dinners next week with the boy. Nice and cheap.

6 Ebay listings done, going to carry on until I drop lol. Hope everyone is having a good evening x
