Hello world, apologies for tardiness, March was mainly all consumed by the wee white pesky things. I hope you are all well and a Happy Easter to you all.

RT good points above, we have our fires on almost everyday - which is luxurious, when free its, well, free when its not, it does add up a bit but does mean we have a core room warm and the rest almost arctic.

Hard wood burns slower and hotter than soft wood its said, soft wood tends to be sparky but if you have a stove not too much of an issue. So whilst one is cheaper, the other is longer burning - so there's not that much in it I think. Off to ponder myself. Largely we burn scrap wood, so I'm not too choosey.

Well, the month has come and gone again. Not much to report in the way of spends due to work load but must do a gander and a tot up.

Bank looking quite healthy, due to work situation.

Today I transfer over to the charity. Not that work will change much, but I prefer working in the third sector.

Been ebaying for work and what folks will spend on a single wee bulb, is mindblowing. #collectors #nutters #KEEPSMEINAJOB

Off to tottle around the banks and sort a few payments.

Excuse the tardy - work did take over. Almost out of the woods so to speak, holidays are looming. Hurrah.

Hope you all had lots of chockie to scoff.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

    Money update
Both banks are in the black - somewhat of a miracle but that's good, no overdrafts this month nor last due to crazy working hours and lack of spends and frugality.

CC1 is sitting at just about 1583.84
    CC2 is at zero.

So for the moment, all things else being in the black, that's the total debt. Just over 1.5k

Wowsers. Well I did want it cleared for my b'day - might achieve that.

I could pay it all off and go back into OD in the 0% account. Will ponder that one, quite liking the banks being in the black for once in my adult life.

Paid 200 into the DD's account for bus pass etc as I forgot for the past few months (whoops)

Hurrah indeed for being in the black! Are the pesky white beasties beginning to calm down a bit now?

One thing to think about with a house that's designed to be heated by real fires - by using those fireplaces you're warming the walls and walls retain more heat than air, so if you are able to then burning a real fire makes a lot of sense. If you can acquire burnable fuel for nowt then obviously so much the better too - when we're in the Hebrides we always make a point of grabbing oddments of wood seen on beach walks etc as a boost to the purchased fuel. While we have a chimney intact at home as we've thee levels above us getting it swept will probably be uneconomical hence for the time being at least we're leaving our fireplace blocked up. It's a shame though - I'd love a stove!

ETA - OH just reminded me we now have a nest of bubby birds in the chimney so until they have taken flight, no fires happening:rotfl:

    Hurrah for the blackness!

My Dad is one of those people who would spend silly money on a bulb. Luckily he is also very generous with his treasures, and I owe my current thousands of white things to his kindness a few years ago. I'm busy splitting and increasing the population again.

My white things arrived yesterday:j It is lovely and sunny and actually quite warm, so must get out and plant them while I can still see where the last ones are. Loved that they came wrapped in old copy of the newspaper:D
