I'm concerned about benefit related assessments incase I don't say something correctly, or I misreport something, or just a general mistake that will affect my benefits.
I think everyone has those worries about benefit assessments. It's why welfare rights places exist.
A support worker to help you learn how to budget might be good for you. I know it seems scary but you shouldn't be left to cope with it on your own straightaway. There's lots of different levels of support below needing an appointee.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I know here in my supported living placement some of my house mates keep their money in the office and the staff set their budget like different envelopes for different things and everything is written down in ledgers, income and outgoings etc.
I know here in Notts its very difficult getting the financial department to take control of you money. For me my care team was worried about me having access to my money and traveling abroad alone thats why they implemented the appointee. I think they will get you to manage your money with your support instead of them.0 -
What a worrying situation for you - hope it all works out well0

Nothing really to report right now, other than I asked (via text) for some money for my board/keep here at my nans. So far the text has been ignored!
Still managed to have a good Christmas here with my Nan, despite this !!!!!! I find myself in0 -
No. My mom (and elder sister) felt the need to ostracized my Nan back in August because my Nan refused to let my mom have her own way. My mom doesn't like that me and my younger sister have continued to maintain a relationship with my nan.
I have no other way to contact my mom, other than texting her directly or asking my youngest sister to pass on a message, but she wishes to remain out of this situation completely.0 -
Resent the initial text message. Finally got a reply that she understands.
I don't know if I've already asked, but does anyone know how long it takes to get an initial assessment for a social worker? Knowing this could curb some of my anxiety.0 -
It depends what priority they think you are, if your being financially exploited and have a risk of homelessness it shouldn't be long. If you look on your local social services website you can find out if they have a dedicated ASD team, if not it will be the vulnerable adults team.0

Nobody can say how long it will be. As nicetomeetyou explained it's really important that you make them know that you're a vulnerable person because of financial exploitation and homelessness. That makes you a higher priority and should speed things up. Seeing your GP and explaining what's happening will also help because they can refer you.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I've got a doctors appointment to review my treatment for depression and anxiety on the 10th, which is the earliest appointment I could get with my G, so I'll inform my GP then.
I found an Adults Disability Team phone number. Would that be ok to contact?0 -
I'm sure they will be helpful in putting you to the right team if you ring. You need to ask for Needs Assessment.0
