Credit file question

So I just had my first peak at the accounts section on my credit file (clear score) 2 months after discharge- having followed advice on this forum to give it a few months before commencing the clean up (if neccesssary) - all of my closed accounts apart from 1 are showing a zero balance- does this mean they are settled and done with-No more to worry about with those ones? Clear score doesn't seem to give settlement or default dates so I can't drill into them-

The only account still with a balance is my old NatWest overdraft - assume give it a few more weeks before I contact them?

As always thanks to this excellent forum in advance

  • Personally I've found Clearscore to be the worst of the ratings people (patchy and incomplete information despite all the information being present on Equifax)!

Noddle contains all the information and is free (you have to provide debit card details but they won't take a payment). While not all creditors use Call Credit (on which they base their information), I found that all the mainstream lenders were on there. I've also found them to be quite good at sorting out any queries other than those directly related to your bankruptcy.

The main things to check are the default date (no later than your bankruptcy date) and the satisfaction date (no later than your discharge date).

As an alternative, sign up to Experian's free trial and within that period, query any accounts that are showing the wrong dates - they will write to/contact the creditors to correct the details. Some creditors will act on it, others will require proof of your discharge before they action it. Just make sure you cancel the subscription before the 30 days are up!
