                    My nephew has chickenpox.
He is due to come to me for Xmas dinner on Sunday. My children have had chickenpox, so have no problem with this.
My children are due to go to their dad on Xmas Day. His gf is pregnant.
I’m fairly sure that the pox won’t be contagious by that point, but I’m not sure my ex would see it that way.
I don’t see why I should stop my family coming to see us as we have no issues with getting it and it’s not us who will be affected, but is this selfish of me as then ex mightn’t want to have the kids?

            Reading this

suggests that as the gf will have no face to face contact with your nephew then there is no chance of her catching it.
The facts aren't always the driving force though.0

Thank you very much. Haven't read what you have quoted, but I will do and print a copy just so I have something in case the ex moans.
I don't feel like I want to mention it to him now as he will either expect me to stop my family coming or decide he doesn't want our girls which will upset them.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Then don't mention it. You've researched and there is no risk, so why mention it?
The big question in my mind is whether the ex's GF has previously had chicken pox herself. If she has then current thoughts would be that she has immunity so can't pass it to the unborn baby.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Cos my kids will mention it. I wasn't even going to tell them that my nephew had it and hoped that they wouldn't notice on Sunday, but then my mum told them or they heard her talking about it to someone else.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

It essentially says that people are contagious until spots have scabbed over but that people who have it already won't catch it again.
So, even if nephew is still contagious, which he may well not be by Sunday, your children won't catch it. The gf would need to be in contact with a contagious person directly.0

I used to work with a guy who had chicken pox three times.0

This is a situation where you have information that the other person(s) - your ex and his pregnant girlfriend - needs to know so they can decide what to do. Yes, the risk might be low but ex and his girlfriend need to find out the risk for themselves and as it might affect her pregnancy. They could phone their own GP. It has to be their decision, not yours, about whether to have the children in these circumstances.0

Thank you. I have notified him stating what I believe to be true, but said he can do his own homework.
Cos really the worse thing would be for the kids to go to his and to be turned away at the door if one of them blurts it out.
I've been the grown up. Quite proud of myself, haha.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

That would be horrible for them, would he really do that?
Sounds like he's got young children with you and already got the next one pregnant, so possibly not the most responsible bloke on the planet, I suppose. You do get men like that.0
