    Good Luck guys :)

I used to work for TeleTech, but had to leave due to stress related illness... Make of that what you will!

The job itself is quite interesting if you like computers, but it's a lot of stress (you have 12 minutes per call - fine if the customer knows their way around a PC. If they don't, your 'call handling time' goes through the roof, and then you get pressure from your team leader regarding your times) - for very little money - £6 per hour? Yikes.

    All the best,

    Sim.

Anyhow i have just had a look at them online but they require 2 references, which i do not have as i have been self employed for the last 3 years.Maybe i will email them and see if there is any way round this, no harm in trying i suppose.

I've been self-employed for the best part of 20 years and I was able to supply 2 references. Obviously I don't know what kind of work you did previously, but anyone with whom you have built up a professional relationship with, should qualify as a referee. I've recently been working for Arise, sub-contracting via a limited company, so used them for one. Prior to working for Arise I was a self-employed parcel courier, so I gave the name of my field manager - he worked with me for 3 years. Hope this helps :)

    Good luck.

For me I was too good for them to utilise all my skills

Does this mean you didn't get the job? If so, on what grounds (if you don't mind me asking) I've never done tech support before and didn't know if I would be computer savvy enough for this work, but someone on an earlier thread said you only needed to know the basics and there was full training - getting nervous about the interview today now - don't know if I'll be good enough for them :(

    You're right I didn't :(

They don't give a reason other than pursuing other applicants at this time.

Nothing teccy in the interview, more how you deal with people, good/ bad experiences etc.

Visit the website you have been given for the interview some time before the interview. You will see its a cisco meeting place portal. there is a browser test to check your browser will be ok and e-learning modules. DON'T panic, just look at Cisco Unified MeetingPlace 6.0 overview, once in this select Audience View on the right hand side. This gives a view what you will see when you log on as per interview session instructions. You can ignore the rest of the overview as this is aimed at the person running the web conference.

Don't worry its not rocket science to participate in the interview

    Best of luck :)

Hi, I just wondered how long the initial interview is? I've read through the posts and looks like 2 hours but I just wanted to confirm.
  • Just finished the interview - lasted just over an hour. It was hard to say how that went - have to say the format for the Arise telephone interview was better. Just have to wait and see now - they said you hear via e-mail within 3 days, so fingers crossed :)
  • That was an experience alright!! I preferred it to a face to face anyday, and the girl running it seemed lovely. Good luck to us, eh?! ;)

Depends how many are being interviewed at the same time, average an hour it seems but could be longer!

I would say one thing - don't worry if you don't have any techy knowledge, full training is given. I'd say the biggest thing you need is patience! You will be dealing with customers who literally have no pc knowledge at all and it is quite common to have customers who don't even know how to right click or what an address bar is in their browser. It can be quite stressful at times, but all I would say is if you've ever worked in a customer services environment before and been ok, you'll be fine. We do have targets but obviously initially you wouldn't be expected to reach those and would be given training, coaching and support to get there. Not only do you have the support of your team leader but there is a great set of support agents ( ;):D ) who will also do coaching either on the phones or in a pm whilst you're on the call itself (if needed) so don't worry you wouldn't be alone :)
If anyone has any questions about the job itself feel free to pm me or put it on here, there are a few employees knocking about so we should be able to help out :)
