Hello I am really interested in focus groups that can be conducted over the web using discussion forums, telephone, internet (such as skype) email, sms, mail, email any that dont require you to be there. I find it very frustrating in todays technological climate I would have thought these would be easy to find. I have no car and I find mosty focus groups are undertaken in places like london which is too far for me to travel as I live in essex. I really enjoy focus groups and would like to take part in any form just one that does not mean travelling so far in physical form for example skype or telephone.
Any help would be very appreciated !0 -
Hi, i just wanted to write and let you all know how easy i have just made £50 cash.
I had signed up to a market research company called Research Opinions (can be found on Google) They are based in Manchester, but also recruit people nationally (excluding London).
They called me when a group came up that i was suitable for. I fitted into the 'aged 25-40, 2 children, responsible for the food shopping for the household' criteria.
I attended a focus group (just round the corner from my house) for 2 hours (drinks and snacks provided) and was GIVEN £50 cash. All i had to do was sit in a room with 5 other people simlar to me and give my opinion on a certain well known brand's marketing.
With 2 small children and working during the day, this was pefect for me as it was in the evening.
It was free to register and they seem to have lots of groups going on at the moment. I recommend it to anyone.0 -

I agree. Have just done my 2nd research with research opinions and I got £50 for 1 hour. This one was just me on my own giving my opinions on a website. The 1st one I did was a group of about 6 people and I got £60 for 2 hoursSo it varies every time. Only problem is they only pick you once every 6 months unless they are really struggling for people who fit the criteria.

Hello, I have received an email from a company recommended on here to do some market research in Germany.
It sounds a bit too good to be true - flights, accomodation, meals and a tour of the city all included for the weekend and 2 hours research on cars for £150.
I am female and think it sounds great but am worried slightly at the safety implications of this being on my own in a foreign country.
Any advice would be welcome, has anyone ever done this type of thing?

Never heard anything like that Hayley. I do a little mystery shopping - there is a much more uptodate thread just about mystery shopping it's the first thread in the Up your income section so it's easy to find.
You could ask the question there. I know you may not want to post the name of the company but you could give a hint who it is and someone might know about this kind of work.
My instinct is that it's quite strange - why wouldn't they ask a local but if it is a ligit company - then someone will know. You're welcome to pm with the name and I can give you a better informed opinion.0 -

Just wanted to reiterate what I have said on this forum over the years. Yes, you do get paid to attend focus groups but it's not something you can make a regular income from. People who do my job (we're called group recruiters) are bound by the Market Research Society (MRS) rules. These vary from project to project and company to company but overall mean that no-one should attend more than one or two research groups per year and most companies impose a total maximum number of attendances which again varies.
Having said that, I'm sure that the odd £40 ish never comes amiss so if you're someone who enjoys giving their opinions you might want to consider seeing if there is anyone in your local area who is looking for people to attend groups. I recruit in Nottingham & Derby and am always looking to increase my numbers of potential recruits and I have colleagues across the country who do the same.
We need large numbers of people because of the nature of the projects we get from our clients which are becoming more and more complex. Larger numbers increase the likelihood of us finding people who fit such specific quotas as we get nowadays.
I have a website which explains more about research and tellsw you how you can get involved.
