Three - Would you recommend them?

If you have no signal at home Three does have its inTouch app to make calls down your WiFi, which is useful for me as where I am I have no signal at home on any network unless I stand in a specific spot facing in one direction. That and the fact Three 321 PAYG is dirt cheap and significantly cheaper than using my landline for calls for the amount of them I make.0

I had O2 before swapping earlier in the year and the only noticeable difference is that Three has poor signal when in some buildings (such as my place of work.) For the price of their deals it is well worth it though!0

I've been a 3 subscriber for a number of years; I have no real complaints about coverage in the areas I frequent, however, the coverage can be a bit ropey out in the sticks.
The getting a PAYG sim is a good idea, I did this everytime I thought about moving network. Stick it in an old phone you have lying around and carry it with you.
The coverage maps are very much to be used as a rough guide - for example if I type my friend's postcode (who's out in the sticks) in on the coverage check, it shows as having coverage, however, we can only get coverage in the house when we go to the upper floors!
I find all mobile phone companies are much-of-a-muchness on the customer service front, i.e. average, so it's not something I would base my decision on. 3's customer service is based out in India, in the limited instance I have had to contact them (to get a replacement sim) it was sent out and arrived in a few days.
You shouldn't need to contact the customer service department much anyway if the service is ticking along as it should be.0 -

I've not used this for a couple of years now as a) the call quality was crap and b) the texts went to the app rather than my standard Android messaging app
Has it improved any since, do you know?0 -
Been with Three for ages, 2 x SIM only contracts. Unlike some (Voda and EE last time I asked them), Three have an overspend cap on calls, and data just “stops” to avoid bill shock. Overseas roaming to Spain works pretty well, no experience of other countries though.
No issues with dealing with Three on the phone, had two or three credits for temporary loss of coverage due to maintenance, £5 recently and £10 once. 4G roll out been slow but getting there.
Check coverage with a PAYG SIM before committing yourself. Also check coverage on Rootmetrics for user reports of calls and data rates in your locality.0 -

I haven't had a problem with the app call quality wise, though my main phone picks up feedback (ie people I speak to can hear themselves and so automatically assume they're on speakerphone when they aren't) whereas my other phone that I also use the app on doesn't do this.
With regards to text, in my experience on my Android 6 phone the app takes over as priority for the texts and calls when the phone is on your Wifi network but otherwise it defaults to the regular phone. Texts in my experience go initially to the InTouch App but otherwise do appear in the normal Android text place. Apparently you can turn this off in the settings for InTouch.0 -
You could try 3 PAYG or iD network 30 day sim only.
Most of 3's good sim only deals are on 12 month contracts. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Can I get this deal by registering an unused 3 PAYG SIM that I've had for years?alanjones60 wrote: »Why not use the mobile data reward sim in ur phone. I have, and i get the payg 321 rates, plus 200mb free every month, no top up required. Ideal for light users like me. Even though it is a data sim it works fine in your phone as well. Even though three say it wont work, it does0 -

No, you’ll need to order one (and it’s likely if you’ve had an unused sim for years that it’ll have been deactivated anyway).====0
