Single, six kids and going to be debt free!

And this is why I hate renting. I am a good tenant. I look after the house as if it were my own home. I bought stuff for the garden and did it up as it was just a patch of grass when I moved in. I have decorated rooms that needed doing and if I leave, I will make sure the entire house is decorated throughout. But because I get housing benefit top up because I only work part time, the landlord is reviewing things over the weekend to see if anyone else is interested. I have been in my current house six years and if it had an extra room downstairs, and no parking issues I would stay. My current landlord is brilliant and the location is fab, but the house is just not quite big enough for us now my kids re getting older. But it will be hard to find a new landlord to accept us. Just got to keep everything crossed that no one else is interested in the house over the weekend!3

Can your current landlord give you a reference to explain to the prospectively landlord about how you have taken care of the property?
Hope you hear back soon with a positive outcome.

Thanks HSL. I am hoping that if I can get to meet the landlord, they will realise that I am. Not a typical single mum. In fact I might email the agent today and ask them if that would be possible.
The memory cushion sales are going fantastic to be honest. Much better than I expected.I have spent this morning working out money for June and although I do have to pay july’s childcare bill at the end of the month which is a fair bit of money, I should still have enough to put into savings. So I have set my targets for emergency fund and new house deposit. I am aiming for £3300 in my new house deposit and £750 in emergency fund. That should give me a little bit to stretch for which is always good.3 -
Will you be allowed to run a business from your hopefully new rented house?2

I’m really not sure to be honest. I’m just trying to get through the first stage of being accepted by the landlord to go and have an actual viewing.
Although today I have found another house with the same agents which is much less money per month, they accept top up of benefits with a guarantor and would consider pets. It’s not as nice looking a house but is massive. It’s actually cheaper than the house I am currently in. So I have enquired about that one today. At least now I have a couple of options. I still prefer the first house but I would move to the second house if the first one isn’t an option.3 -
While I don't want to rain on your parade it's maybe something to ask? I know in my street there is that restriction on our deeds.3

That is a shame about the house. Very annoying when people judge you as being unreliable just because you are a single mum. I would be tempted to tell them I don't want their house but that would definitely be a foolish reaction. I remember reading a long time ago that you were hoping to save for a deposit to buy your own home that would give you more security. Is that plan no longer viable? Such a shame that the house you are in just isn't big enough, it sounds ideal apart from that. I do hope everything works out well for you.2

Tea tonight was very Honeysucklelou inspired. The kids had pasta and meatballs and home made breadsticks made by the 10 year old which went down very well and are almost all gone. Then pudding was chocolate cornflake cakes made by me. I have a shopping order to collect tomorrow and that will use the last of this month’s food budget and we don’t have much left in the house. But we had chocolate, golden syrup butter and loads of cornflakes so I made loads of cakes. Kids enjoyed eating them as well, so I will make them again. Ten year old has already said she will make the breadsticks again as well.3
