I just have to ask (as this is MSE after all) why have you paid your tax already?  Would you pay your gas bill 7 months early?  I know we can't get much interest these days, but surely that would be better & then just pay HMRC early in the new year.

It’s because I like to pay it now I suppose. Also I had only just started self employment so it was only £11.80 to pay. Such a small amount, I wanted it done and paid just in case something happens and I forget to pay in January.

Totally agree, worth it to get it off the to-do list, especially with a house move on the horizon hopefully.

I like to pay my tax now too. It's never a huge amount and u found I was borrowing from it more than I would like. I am good at keeping other money set aside, but for some reason not this!

I was really good at setting aside 20% of all my earnings into a separate savings account, but then when I added in my other expenses, found I didn’t need as much. I think it goes back to when I worked as an accountant, I always put money aside for tax bills and always used to advise clients to do the same. Best to put too much away, than put too little away and find that you need to find more money.

So PIP forms have arrived today and I am trying to fill them out as best I can. I have the web page open from mental health and money matters and am going through each questions at a time and working out what I need to put and how it is relevant to my life. Like for example, I really don’t have an issue with money and budgeting, but eating properly and healthily is another matter. I also find that I forget to take my tablets if I take them in the evening, but if I take them in the morning, they make me really sleepy and then I fall asleep and need an alarm to wake me up to go and get the kids. It’s a no win situation really.

Right I best make the kids some lunch even though they only had breakfast about two hours ago as we all had a lay in. It’s just too hot to try and get them to do any school work today!

So make sure you tell them about the side effects from the medication.
