Why dont you have a look at the parking at a few different times in the next few days?

I would have done but I got an email back from the agent this afternoon saying one of their existing tenants is taking that property. So now it’s the more expensive one or stay where I am or hope (miracle needed) that another one comes up in the next couple of months.

For the cheaper house, think about how you would handle the kids and shopping and not being parked outside your door, its a realistic situation to consider, could you overcome the problems that would present or not.
Re the nicer houses landlord having concerns, why not write a letter to him to be sent through the agent addressing the issues you know he likely has head on, the things you would say to them if you got a face to face meeting, & put forward a letter of recommendation from your current landlord if you are able to show you are a good tenant who pays on time and improves the property. Benefits would actually give them more security rather than someone who might choose to spend their income on other things ahead of priority bills. Fingers crossed for you

That is a good idea about the letter. I will compose something tonight and see if I can meet the landlord sometime. Almost like a covering letter for a cv. Thanks for the idea.

Is the nicer house more expensive than where you are living just now. If so maybe you should rethink if you could still afford it if your oldest daughter doesn't come back to live with you. Would your current house be big enough if she doesn't come back?  Maybe something to consider. You don't want to take on an increased rent if your income is going to be reduced by quite a bit.

That’s a very good point moneywhizz. I will have to look into it. I suppose if my eldest didn’t come back, I would only have one car again so I would be able to park on y drive. I would have to have a reshuffle of bedrooms again but it could work. I might also have a think about putting a summerhouse in the garden as my work room as that would clear my space quite considerably.  Thank you, I will have a think and play about with numbers later on tonight after I have tidied the living room once again!

A work room in the garden is a great idea.

Wow I missed lots going on with you!
You are so on top of everything though, i'm very jealous of your organisational skills (I manage about a week of being fully organised and then it all starts to drift off again  )

I know, I always pack loads in. Not sure I am that organised though. My house is a bit of chaos.

So youngest has gone off the nursery today for the first time since 20th March. She really didn’t like being woken up this morning and was still half asleep when we got to nursery. Then someone she didn’t know answered the door and she had to wash her hands. She looked so confused bless her but she only has three months left at nursery before she starts school, so hopefully she can enjoy being with her friends.

This also meant the rest of us were up early. I have already reconciled my bank, paid the balance on my Asda credit card (only use it for Asda shopping to get cash back in Asda vouchers), been to the shop to get some milk and now about to do some washing up. Three of the kids go back to school tomorrow so I need to sort out their uniform for tomorrow and then when tomorrow I have only the 14 year old at home, I can do a bit of a sort out and then a chill out in the afternoon!

You’ll have to bear with me. I’ve now had another idea. Thinking about staying where I am if eldest doesn’t move back in, the two boys can have the big room, 14 year old can have the room that was her older sister’s, 10 year old diva can have the small room by herself and baby can either sleep with me, which is what she does most nights anyway, or sleep in with the two boys. Eldest boy says he doesn’t mind sharing with the two younger ones and the baby will only be in there at night time anyway. Then I am thinking about buying a vintage caravan and making it into my sewing room out in the garden. We actually have driveway access to the back garden and I have a patio which isn’t used apart from storing my trailer tent on. This could become my area for my vintage caravan. Then I am thinking if I ever move house, I can move my sewing room as well. A log cabin would be a lot more effort to move than a caravan as it is more permanent.
