Great news about the debt being cancelled, but I do understand why you feel bad. My only suggestion in this case is, when the time is right, pay it forward. It might not be financially, but you may give your time to volunteer at something. Or help people out I need other ways. I'm in no way saying you should or could do this is the short or medium term, but maybe, in the long term it could be an option.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

That is a good idea. I really like the idea of paying it forward. I already have a plan to donate loads of old baby items to a local charity that helps mums in need, but maybe as you say in the future I can donate my time to help someone out.0 -
Ok so I have spent the evening looking at my credit reports. I am a little confused because one of my debts isn't showing on any of the three different reports. It is also one that I haven't had any letters chasing for. I am now worried I had stirred up a can of worms by sending a letter just before Christmas. However, I haven't received a response yet so maybe they have closed h account as well?0

It is hard work managing everything on your own. I have used a chore chart in the past when most of mine were at the junior age group which worked well for a time but doesn't have the same effect with the teenagers. I find that jobs that are seen as fun, like making a batch of brownies to fill up the tins, I have no problems with. Getting one of them to hoover the floor is quite another matter.
My 17 year old and my 15 year old re getting better at changing their bedding or putting a load of their washing going if they think I'm not fast enough.
Prioritising what you feel are the essential tasks is key. I take the point of view that if they are well fed on good homemade food and have clean clothes I'm happy and I tend not to worry if it's untidy as I know that will be tackled on my day off. I know others might have different priorities but it's finding what works best for you and your children.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Oh don’t worry I will keep everything filed, which reminds me I need to file my paperwork instead of just having a pile of it lying on top of the filing.
Oh and it was Natwest that decided not to chase. It was a loan and an overdraft. I had a credit card as well but that is a different company and they are still chasing that!0 -

I know what you mean about fun jobs like baking although my 7 year old loves hoovering and will quite happily hoover the stairs! I also know that my house is never going to be immaculate. I have made a list of what I do everyday just to keep on top of things and will ask the four eldest to take on one of those jobs each. Then I will do the rest but hopefully have more time for me.
From May I will have one day a week in term time where it will be just me at home so that is when I will start to feel like I am on top of things, until then I just have to try and cope the best I can.
The other thing I need to sort is the 2 year old’s bedtime routine. Well actually put in a place a routine as he doesn’t have one at the moment!0 -
So today I'm at work again but last day of the week. Ex Husband has paid maintenance and it has gone up which is brilliant. Only by £17, but £17 is better than nothing.
I have been thinking so much on how to pay off my debts. I really think that one of my credit cards that I haven't paid anything on for two years has just disappeared. I haven't had a reply to my letter from before Christmas, it isn't on any of the credit reports either.
So I might split the amount I have available to pay my debts which at the moment is £680 per month between the two that I am in contact with. I should have after March an extra £120 per month as the tax credit overpayment will be gone, so that money will go into an account in case this credit card reappears!
I might save up for the rugby tour expenses that I have and once those are out of the way, any extra money that I make or save will also go into this pot.
If this all goes to plan, I reckon that I could be debt free by the end of this year! That would be amazing!0 -
