  • Oh dear, I'd stick to Poundland . . .
  • There's no need to be filming anyone just doing their job. It's such a rude thing to do.

unfortunately, none of these responses are in direct response to my request for advice on how to move forward, not start a debate on legalities on recording judging me, when not knowing me etc, advice, pure and simple. As this is the first ever forum that i have used for anything, it's a shame it was met with such negativity and judgement.

Have a wonderful Xmas/hanukkah or holidays for the athiests, and a great 2018, but I am outta here to live my life forum free from trolls

    Regards

The forum is packed full with useful information why not stay ?

Do tell us which store it was ?

Have you re read your first post as you give us the wrong impression. Didn't need to mention about your kids.

Yes the baked goods sell out, maybe he was the only member of staff(or short staffed so him and one other) in the bakery.

Similar thing happened to me. No baked goods in Lidl, I walked until I found a busy assistant refilling a shelf (took a few seconds, they were yards away) and asked when their baking oven would next be emptied. I was told (in 30 seconds) and I walked away. I didn't criticise their practices..., nothing, just politely asked one question.

When going to Lidl's/Aldi, I never expect staff to be anything but busy and stressed because I know their cheap prices come partially from having too few staff. That's the deal, cheap prices = very little customer services and stressed multitasking staff who are one minute filling shelves, the next operating a checkout according to an automated system (can't imagine anything worse when working).

I started off by saying (with a smile) how much my kids loved their cookies but I kept missing them .., no anxst.

    Done.

Looks like people have already judged me before asking for the video! The horse has bolted I’m afraid.

You don't seem to understand, you were in the wrong someone going about their job on private premises without permission of the landowner. No matter what your little video shows, you were in the wrong taking it.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear
  • How long before the OP is back to tell us they got a full written apology, compensation and the member staff in question has been sacked.

This is how this normally goes. :)

Actually I do have some sympathy for toe2012 even though it's not right to secretly film staff. She didn't specify how she spoke to the store manager so don't make assumptions about what she actually said. Customer service is appalling in Lidl. Shop premises have expanded with no extra staff taken on. There will be one long queue on a single till that is opened and then a till assistant will announce that another till has opened. Yet that till isn't manned because she hadn't bothered to check if another member of staff is available. So customers will be waiting a while for another member of staff who could have been very busy at the other end of the store to come to that till. Queues build up in the Co-Op as well but at least the staff there have the decency to call a colleague to come to the tills before requesting customers go to that till.

The food in Lidl is not much cheaper than in other supermarkets because they are now stocking the same brands as the other supermarkets and not the much cheaper Eastern European and German brands. There are no self service tills and quick service tills with a maximum of ten items so if you go in there just to buy chocolate or bread you are stuck in a long queue with some of those in the queue ahead of you with a large trolley full. If you need to save money instead of shopping in shops with poor service stop wasting food as so many people do as they fill their trolleys thoughtlessly with bulk items instead of planning ahead and seeing what they can use up at home first.
