New car, won’t honour price!

Need some advice!!
Ordered a brand new car 3 months ago. It had to be made to order as we added quite a few extras.
Was offered 6k scrappage, and also had 7k discounted due to using carwow. The original price of car would be around £36k.
The car was delivered to the dealer last Friday. They called me advising they made a mistake and shouldn’t have done both ‘offers’ together. They are now saying I can have one offer or the other and pay the difference, or walk away from the deal and get my deposit back.
Now the rest of this is by the by, but my car for scrappage is already with them as it was due it’s MOT and wasn’t likely to pass without a bit of expense..
So I bought my self a replacement car.. as I need a car to get to and from work.
The wife’s current car broke down last week and is uneconomical to repair - worse timing ever..
So needless to say we need a car, but can’t afford the 6k difference. I’m peeved that I’ve bought a replacement for my car, when I could have kept the car I had - would have needed to spent £200 to get it through MOT. The car is now without tax insurance or mot so would be costly to try and move and sell or id have to pay someone to pick it up and scrap it.. all because of their mistake!
The contract says they can withdraw from the sale for whatever reason they like and they mentioned this in the call, so I guess I’m screwed and either walk away or pay the difference.. but what about the costs I’ve incurred as a result of the sale being agreed ie buying another car etc? I wouldn’t have needed to do that if they didn’t make this mistake.. I’ve taken out a loan and have incurred costs for that also etc etc..
Finally, before we bought this car, we approached the dealership 2-3 weeks previously and got offered both discounts together then as well.. they would have a record of this on their system. The business managers reviewed all the pricing etc before we left, so it should have been picked by then, If not before the car was ordered by them, let alone after it has been delivered to them!
Long shot I know, but wanted to see what people’s thoughts are. Do I have any legal argument I can go back to them with? Could I claim for any losses?

ok they might have got it wrong.
but your starting out looking at a 36k car and you've bought a temporary car? scrapping and worrying about £200 to get the old one through and wont by a car for the misses replacement or fix it.
Phrase is champayne tastes with beer money...

I don't think you have any legal basis on which to act, nor can you claim for any losses, because those losses were 'voluntary' in the sense that you chose to structure and time the decisions you did. Your second car failing was an unfortunate coincidence.
You're clearly owed an apology and if you were to proceed, I think the dealer would be likely to sweeten the deal a little by way of recompense for their mistake. If you can't afford to or simply don't want to proceed, you're not going to get anything I'm afraid.0 -

We couldn’t afford to fix the wife’s current car as we were expecting to be paying £23k on the new one.. which would have cleared our bank balance.0 -
If finance was going to be tight, perhaps it's a blessing in disguise? Go for a less expensive car and give yourself a comfortable margin and contingency to work with. £15k would buy a damned good car, for example.0

So new car was £36k OTT and you are now surprised that you aren't in effect getting 36% off?
So they made a very obvious mistake which you wanted to take advantage of instead of clarifying at the time.0 -
I have thought maybe it’s a sign, but still annoying situation made worse by the fact I have two broken cars to sort out, only one of which is a result of their mistake.
Try telling that to the mrs though after waiting 3 months for the car!
The other annoyance is that it has a lot of features that would make her disabilities easier... electric sliding rear doors, electric boot and rear camera etc.. hard to get similar car if it’s size, even more so as she needs an auto petrol as well due to all journeys being short.0 -
As mentioned they offered both the scrappage and discount on two occasions.. that’s why we did an initial quote to check both deals could be used! We then added more to the car and they agreed both deals again. It did seem a big discount but i thought it was because they treated scrappage as trade in and the carwow as a discount hence not two ‘offers’0

So you have some quite specific requirements there. I'd still advise that to use all your funds is risky. Can you obtain a suitable car for a much lower sum? You should forget the deal that never was and start searching for another. Could the dealer help with your requirements, after all, they do owe you a little customer care?0

Ok then 2 brand new Dacias, mid range very decent spec. 5 year warranty. Award winners for last 5 years. 16k the pair.
You are now up 9k plus the cash for scrapping the other 2
Even if you jumped hers up to a step way for much easier access its only another 2.5k0 -

I think your quote naive to think they are paying you £6k for a car that they are going to scrap!.
