Sky cinema £10?

I don't know how Sky are getting away with 18 month terms for Cinema or the regular TV 'entertainment' packages for existing customers, it would be interesting if a longstanding customer cancelled before the 18 month minimum term was up, because early termination charges are supposed to ensure the company is compensated the real costs incurred if you terminate early, a 'new' customer getting a new set top box and physical connection, it's not unreasonable for Sky to insist you pay upto the end of the agreed term as they had a lot of real costs, but to 'upgrade' an existing customer to Cinema ( for example) is a few keystrokes on a computer by a Sky employee, if you cancel after say 1 month, how can they 'fine' you £170, when to remove Cinema is also just a few key strokes, the penalty is totally disproportionate to work involved.
actually to remove Cinema would involve 31 days notice as it does already to change anything else on a downgrade, though of course yes it can be done in a few clicks it won't change immediately but that's beside the point. And remember those who click the buttons don't work for nothing, won't work in the cold and need electricity to do their work.
The £10 thing is a sweetener, that's all it is to try and boost the uptake. Remember on Sky you can't take it on its own, it will always be on top of a bundle which start from £22 which will partly be subsiding the offer. Unlike NowTV for example where their £10 cinema pass you can have it alone.0 -
I have sky but use nowtv for cinema. Don't think I've never paid more than £5 a month doing it this way. Sometimes buy the boxes with the vouchers but every so often just cancel and get a 4 months for £3.99 offer through nowtv. Also seen a free month of cinema and entertainment on various deal websites. Used a couple of those this year.
There have been recent new customer offers with now tv where 12 months cinema was around £50. Never seen any offer from sky as an existing or new customer that has come close to the nowtv prices.0 -
I've found the quality and variety of films on sky cinema to be very disappointing. I wouldn't actually want it for more than two or three months every year.0

Argos are currently selling Now TV boxes with a three month Sky Movies pass for £19.99
I keep buying boxes to get cheap passes. And when the subscription period runs out, take a break and switch back to Netflix.
Edit: you can probably find passes for sale on ebay as well. A lot of people were buying Now TV boxes from Tesco recently purely to get extra club card points to convert to air miles. They were selling the passes on ebay and selling the boxes to a company that buys them for recycling!
With you keep buying boxes and setting them up at the same address and same email address does NowTv allow this?0 -

Craigr98 - As in #28 - the boxes are just a way of getting into your Now TV account. You only need a box or an app on your telly, or use a PC, tablet etc.. You can set an account up online and just keep feeding the passes in. I did have 3 new and used Now TV boxes at one point, but gave them all away. If you buy the right deal, the boxes are pretty much free if you just want the passes.0

Thank you for clarifying I thought it was one voucher per new customer.0 -

Now TV will be available on a USB stick at some point in the near future too.0
