How's this for luck - got a call first thing this morning from Robertsons to say that (surprise-surprise) there'd been a mistake on the website and the radio I was getting would be white and not the described silver. I duly played the part; "White?! Well that won't match my kitchen...cancel please". Nice and easy! :rotfl:"I am not Geoff Vadar, I'm Darth Vadar"0

Roberts online don't seem to have any more refurb units. I don't have a Richer Sounds stores near by...any other suggestions? I am really keen to get a good quality radio for about £50 ish.0

The web link doesn't seem to work on the Roberts site any more. Have they run out of stock?
The white ones are also in Makro priced at £49.95 + Vat (brand new). Anyone know if Makro price match?0 -

You could try the Red Spot one that Sainsbury's have for £49.99. This seems to be available in a lot of their stores. Gets a five star review from What Hi-Fi and my dad loves his. Also has FM if you have a dodgy dab reception.

Just notice Makro are doing the white model for £49.99 + VAT. They do not offer a price match.
I can't find a red spot model on Sainsburys website.0 -
I don't know if this model is any good but is just under £45 delivered (new and silver):

I hope I am not straying off topic too much but....
OK I've just been told that I have been given £45 for a DAB radio for my Birthday. The thing is I want one with an alarm clock as it is going to replace my dodgy analogue radio alarm. Extra functions such as downloading the correct time, being able to use the radio as a usable alarm clock (ie can you see the fascia at night etc), sound quality and reliability are important. So I would be willing to supplement my £45 with an extra £20-£30 of my own money to get a DAB radio I am going to be happy with for years to come.
It sounds like the Sharp could hit all the right buttons but some seem to have found reliability to be an issue. Although I would be tempted to buy from Makro as I can easily return the item (colour is not really an issue for me).
I have always thought the pure range to be the ultimate but I probably couldn't get what I want within my price range or can I. Are there any bargains to be had?
Can anyone give me any advice?0 -
Hi
FWIW
I recently bought a Portal 1 (acoustic solutions) Dab uit from Asda £40, fell in love with digital radio from that point on
So, when I saw this unit I went to upgrade and got the last refurb from Richer Sounds Newcastle on Sat Morning. Its back there now!!
I could not get the Sharp to tune in a single station - even when sited in an identical osition to my old radio.
Thankfully my Portal is plugged back in and all is well in Dab land again.
Not sure what the moral is here but if you can try b4 u buy
Steevstay lucky!

If you want a useable DAB radio alarm clock DON'T BUY THE SHARP! Its alarm functionality is severely limited eg. once you've set the alarm, you can no longer listen to the radio until the alarm has gone off (so you can forget about setting the alarm and going to sleep with the radio on)!cmorgan wrote:OK I've just been told that I have been given £45 for a DAB radio for my Birthday. Me neither, and this is my first DAB radio so I haven't got another to compare the reception.valentino wrote:I could not get the Sharp to tune in a single station - even when sited in an identical osition to my old radio.
When I tried a website's DAB availability checker (according to post code), it said a number of stations should definitely be available...
