Just collected my Dab radio (Sharp FVDB1) from Richer sounds today. Really pleased with it especially at £39.99 as they priced matched the one poted above and bet that price by £5,00. I hope it lasts longer than 35 days. Anyway Thanks a great money saving post.

How did you get them to quote the price, did you take a printout in? Which store did you bug from?

Rather miffed as I ordered the radio from Robertsons Online yesterday, but it wasn't til I got to the order summary page that I noticed the model name listed as FV-DB1E(W). This means it's the white version, as opposed the the (S) silver model. What is extremely misleading is that the picture they show is of the silver version and it even states in the description "DAB Digital Radio Receiver with FM Tuner Silver"! :mad:

I'm going to try Richer Sounds today - got two stores within a ten minute walk from where I work. Will let you know how I get on..

No luck at Richer Sounds store no.1 - gave them a print-out of Robertsons-Online and they said they would price match. Then kept me waiting over 5 minutes to reappear saying Robertsons-Online won't have any stock for at least 2 weeks so they won't price match! :mad:

Going to head off to store no.2 in ten mins to try again.

Reading their price match promise, it only states the requirement as being "If the product exists then we will price beat" with no mention of a stock requirement. This time I think I'll be a bit more forceful if they give me the same reponse..

Oh well - store no.2 has none of the Graded models in stock, so rang store no.1 back to query price beat policy, but they stated it must be in stock at the retailer you wish them to beat. Out of luck it seems...

Did you call Robertson's to check they have it in stock and the Richer Sounds chaps weren't just having a cuppa and pretending to call them ?

Seems like some have had bad experiences, must admit I have always found Richer Sounds to be an excellent source of well priced quality hifi equipment, the staff are knowledgable and helpful (unlike some of the high street chains).

I have now, and it's raised more questions than answers!

Guy I spoke to said they only had a couple of the refurb models available, and they've both been allocated now (how surprising!). He then said he'd have to take it off the website. When I queried this, he said it doesn't update automatically in line with stock levels. I asked what would happen if a few hundred people had ordered them, and he simply answered that doesn't happen, they only ever get one or two orders (hmmm). I asked when they would have more in stock, and he said there's no set time; it's as and when they're received from Sharp. :think:

So how long will it be before the e-mails are sent out to those that have placed their orders (including me) "We're sorry to inform you..." :mad:

Hi I bought mine from the Leicester Branch of Richer sounds. They checked out the deal at Robertsons online (they only looked at the web site and made no contact!) and then did the deal , No problems at all.

Success! Got my wife to take the print-out of Robertsons in to the Richer Sounds local to where I live and though they told her they were supposed to phone up to check stock availability, they didn't! Net result - £40 Sharp DAB radio! :j

Also noticed on the Robertsons website they've realised their mistake and amended the description to say it's white (rather than silver), confirming my suspicions about the model code. Oddly they haven't removed it though, so I guess they've secured another batch of the refurbs from Sharp..

Incidentally their trading practices are pretty shocking - got an e-mail last Saturday saying my radio was ready for dispatch and they would be contacting me shortly to arrange a delivery time. It went on to say if I wanted to arrange it quicker I could call them on (you guessed it) 0871...yeah right! Having heard nothing since I looked up their geographical number on the Alternate Nos website today and called them, and when I queried not being contacted to arrange delivery the guy said "Oh that's odd you should have had an e-mail giving you our number"! :mad: Anyway they'll be getting a nice order cancellation from me tomorrow...
